Say you have an app (Facebook, for arguments sake) which has messages, cached pictures etc. Is that info stored in the actual app file (iTunes Media > Mobile Applications) or do you have to trigger an iTunes backup? For context, I don't have access to a backup to restore my phone from however I do have a file system backup of my applications folder. If I install these apps to my new phone will they be fresh installs or will they retain my old data?
I'm constantly battling low internal drive space on my Tab S (I'll NEVER buy another 16GB internal drive device), but this question should also pertain to my S6.
When I go into my "Storage" settings, I have the option to clear my cache with one click. I'd like to use this function to clear off my cached browsing, imgur, etc., but my concern is my games.
1) If I clear the cache, will I lose my saved game data? 2) Will I lose any settings for any apps?
Anyone is able to tell me what is the data that is NOT saved in a normal backup? For example I am sure about the music, if you don't specifically sync the music, this is not saved and automatically restored during a backup restore (I just did a backup from iphone 3GS and restored data on the 4S).Do you know if there is any other data that is not copied?
Is there any way to transfer Saved App Game Data to the iPhone 4 without a backup? There are a couple games on my iPhone where I have loads of saved game data including Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. I had to do so many goals to get farther on that game and I have a couple racing games with a lot of saved data, and some general games. I wanted to start the new iPhone 4 from scratch with the new original settings, and start from scratch with my contacts, texts, etc. There are about 5 or 6 games I really want my saved data for. If I transfer them to my iMac, I will lose my saved data for sure, right? So besides a backup, is there any way I can keep my saved app game data?
I would like to see how I can find the apps I saved into my laptop. When I save it in iTunes it says couldn't save some apps because it can't play on the iPhone. Then when I try to find the apps it has 'saved' I can't
Info: iPhone 3GS, iOS 4.3.3, Unable to find apps saved in pc.
My phone is back from repair again and again I cannot restore saved before reset app data. It says on the web that I get a msg asking to restore it when I put in my microsoft account but I didn't get any.
I was wondering if there was an easier, more streamlined setting I am missing where you can save the pics you download from 3rd party apps right to the memory card. I have been downloading them and then manually moving them to the memory card but its always a hassle. The normal camera app gives you the nice setting to have them auto save to the memory card so that's awesome. Though I am wondering if other apps I use can do this too?
I was wondering if I used Google Maps or Navigon, would it use data? I ask this because I plan to get the 2GB plan, and don't want to run it all up.Also, will AT&T text me if I'm running out of data for that month?
Since I'm new to iOS (iPhone 5s with the latest OS if that makes a difference) I was wondering:
Which data can apps access without my permission / knowledge?Â
I know there are permissions which have to be given explicitly (like GPS) but are there also ones which are granted automatically without my knowledge? Are apps actually able to access the file system or any of my data outside the given permissions?
I'm using iPhone 3Gs with iOs 5.1 and iCloud back-up. Now I've bought me a iPhone 4S How can I import/convert my old data/apps to my new phone. Tried to use i Cloud, but it wasn't possibloe to restore from iCloud?
I upgraded my iPhone 3GS to the latest OS. Apps and all other data are still on the phone but not the contacts. The contacts do not show up on iCloud evern though the phone synched to iCloud on my PC.
I had an app that I had wrote down passwords and added pictures to and when I update to 5.1.1 it put my phone in recovery mode so I had to restore it and after that I got my apps back but not the information on them like the pictures and passwords. Is there a way to get it back?
I have had my daughter's iPhone associated with my Apple ID for several years now because A) She was too young to have an Apple ID of her own, and B) I wanted to be able to monitor her App Store purchases and such. Well now that she is older and has proven herself to be a responsible young lady, I want to get her her own Apple ID, as she will be getting a new McBook as a graduation present. My question is this: Is it possible to migrate all the apps and data from her phone to a new Apple ID without having to download all those apps again? I backup her phone to my computer on a regular basis.
I have the iphone 4s and totally new to the whole thing..i want to download Whatsap Messenger using my Cellular Data..it keeps on asking for a 3 digit area code..cellphones doesnt have area code only landlines..which code should i put in there?

I bought a new (to me) Macbook Pro running Lion. I have an iPhone 4S running iOS 5.1.1 that I keep backed up to iCloud. With my PC I used to always keep semi-frequent backups to the computer along side the iCloud backups, never can be too careful. Now since most everyting with Lion intergrates and syncs with iCloud I haven't needed to check to sync those in iTunes.
Now to get to my question, for my apps I know I can "transfer purchases" so that my apps show up in my iTunes library, but when I check to sync the apps it completely rearranges them on the little pictures of the screen on computer. Now a long time ago with iOS 4 and my old iPhone 4 when I did this on my new at the time PC it wiped out all the app data and basically reinstalled the apps as brand new apps. I DO NOT want to loose the app data as some of apps like LockBox store critical data that I cannot loose.
Will checking to sync my apps clear the data within the apps? Again I am ONLY concerned about APP DATA ! All other data on the phone has been taken care of and synced with the computer.
I have Iphone 4s, iOS 7. I was looking to try and turn off the data for the apps when I'm not using them since they run up a lot of data. But when I went into Settings> Cellular > Use Cellular Data For:Â It only showed up several apps that I use, not all the apps that I use and are on my phone and I know they obviously use data.Â
iOS 7.1.2 update for my IPhone 4S Cloud. I have received the update notice and I don't understand why I cannot update? I purchased 20MB of space from ICloud which is more than enough to cover the update and my data? So if I have to delete apps to upload this update I will lose my data or can I store it in the cloud and Delete it off the phone and then turn on the cloud again to down load to my phone. If I have to do it that way how do you down load from your Icloud afterwards?
I recently bought an iphone 5c (3-4 months ago). Up untill about a week ago, everything was working fine but now I can't download applications over cellular data.
On wifi, i can dowload things fine and my data is working fine (i can use safari, email, imessage, whatsapp ect. without any issues) but when i click on install, i see this circle turning. When i go to my springboard, i can see an icon but it has no image on it and says "waiting" under it, and after about a minute it dissapears...
My iphone IS running the lastest version of ios (7.1.2, non-jailbroken) and apart from a few battery issues, no other problems with the iphone.
Now that unlimited data is a thing of the past this might be a concern I've not seen discussed, do the apps that are now running in background like Facebook twitter etc stay connected to the 3g signal to get updates if so will that now mean we will have higher data usage than we did before? Or do they just start using data when they are opened as the main app being viewed?
I have an IPhone and a few months ago, I bought my son an IPod Touch.I thought it would be easier to register his Touch under my account and share some of the apps, but now it is becomig an issue.I get all the texts and facetime calls that he receives, and he can see all of my calendar entries, notes, and contacts.I have set up an account for him, and I want to move the IPod Touch to that account, but I do not want to lose the apps that I bought specifically for the IPod touch, nor do we want to lose his "game data". Is there a way that I can move the touch to the new account and not lose the apps and data.I am okay with him not being able to access the apps that I bought and use on the IPhone.
