I have had an iPhone since the first version was released, but this is the first time I have jail broken one.I hear about everyone using custom SMS tines, my question is, what app are you all using. I am not comfortable rooting my phone, so if that is my only option I guess I am out of luck.

I sometimes would like certain people to know where I am or what I'm doing so they may take the opportunity to join me without me answering the phone each time it rings when I'm hosting a seminar or teaching a class. I would like to record a couple of responses that I could pick from, but don't know if that is possible.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI just got my nice new iphone and have found trouble putting custom ringtones on. i can succesfully sync 1 ringtone (yes its 29secs long acc format with .m4r ending). In my itunes ringtone folder i can see the 3 ringtones i have put on there so far yet when i go to settings on my iphone only one shows up, not the multiple copies others have experienced. im using itunes 9.0.3 and have iphone 3gs 16gb version 3.1.2

I've been doing it since I first got a cell phone like 10 years ago - seems like such a standard feature, it's annoying I have to JB to get it.Everyone in the world has the tri-tone sms sound.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an iPhone 4, and I'm a bit annoyed with the level of control I have over the different alerts.I want to be able to separately control sound and vibrate for each type of alert (ringtone, email, SMS, ect.)Right now, it seems that if I have ringtone volume enabled, enabling alerts for new mail enables both sound and vibrate, and there is no choice to have new mail alerts as vibrate only without silencing the ringtone as well.
I like to hear incoming calls, although I get a lot of mail so it gets annoying hearing the new mail alert every 15 minutes.It would also be nice to change the vibrate patterns and alert tones for all of the different alerts, and to create profiles for quick changing

I spend half my time in the USA, and half in India. I currently have two phones using AT&T GoPhone service (pre-pay), and also T-Mobile pre-pay service. First question - are there any plans available where I can "stop" my plan for six months at a time, while I'm away? I would like phone service, and data, for while I'm here, and no charges at all for when I'm away.
Second question - if I purchase a new unlocked iphone from either Dubais or Hong Kong, it will come factory-unlocked. If I then want to use it on one of the service providers in the USA, do I pay the same amount as if I got their "almost free" iphone?, or do I get a discount as there's no need for them to subsidize anything? It seems to me that I'm the perfect person for using pre-pay, but AT&T doesn't seem to want an iphone on pre-pay. Are there any other options I haven't thought of yet?

I am attempting to create a custom tone, and have succeded in every step except for being able to find it on my phone. I understand it should be under settings/sounds/ringtones... but its not there, nor is there a section entitled custom tones as everyone i have spoken to says there should be?

Some email accounts I've got set up on my phone (3GS, 3.1.2) get emails that there is no real urgency about; I'll look at the when I have time. Others I'd like to look at as soon as they arrive. A different sound for each account would help with this.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been running jailbroken 3.1.2 for a while now. It is untethered and my baseband is 05.11.07.I am wanting to sell my 3GS so need to restore it but keep the jailbreak. Using PwnageTool 3.1.5 i made a custom version of firmware 3.1.2 however if I try and restore using it through DFU mode I get an error 1600.
If I try and restore using it through normal restore mode, the progress bar gets almost to the end and then stops moving. I've left it for quite a while and nothing changes.I don't want to upgrade to jailbroken 3.1.3 because I want to unlock it.
Is there a way to set a custom text message alert like you can a ringtone? (I'm already 90% sure you can't because I searched and found 2+ year old threads that say no, but I just want to know if there is any possibility of this now.)
As since the answer is likely still no, why do you think Apple still hasn't implemented this, especially since we now have iOS4? My concern is because while I love the default (tri-tone I think it's called), with so many friends and family with iPhones, it starts to get confusing for people (since nearly everyone around me uses this one as the others are meh).
I loaded some custom tones into my iphone via SSH, and 3 of them will not work. The files are fine, I checked. They have the right names and everything. But they don't play on the phone. I deleted the original files before overwriting, if that helps clarify things. I have been trying to figure this out all afternoon and I am about ready to sell the iphone and get a Nokia or something.

I can see the ringtone in the settings, but even if I set it as the used ringtone the phone keeps using the default one when a call is incoming.

I have got the iphone 5 - 7.1.2 software update and I managed to go as far as making a custom made ringtone that shows in itunes as an m4r.
When I try to sync my phone it doesn't pick up the ringtones tho. I tried unchecking and syncing and then checking and syncing again but its not working.
I also can not choose to manually sync my phone. Whenever I click the button for it it disappears.

View 3 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine has a factory unlocked 3GS with 3.1.3 firmware and, I'm assuming, the latest baseband. Reading this iClarified tutorial would suggest that it is possible to jailbreak his phone with a Mac but he doesn't have one. So my question is, if I make a custom ISPW for him using my Mac, can he then restore his phone using Windows and this custom firmware. And if so, does he need to use DFU mode or can he simply click on the custom file and restore? I should add that it isn't feasible for me to do the job for him as he lives many miles away and I'll be sending him the custom firmware on a CD by mail.

I remember before the 3gs came out the only way to get custom sms tones is to make it the same name as an original sms tone but they had to be short because you cant stop them no matter what buttons you press.my question today is has anyone found a way to make longer sms tones that can be longer than a couple seconds...i guess im just used to hearing my favorite songs play when i get a text so if there is away please feel free to let me know.
