IPhone :: 4s 32GB Dying At 20% Battery Life?
May 8, 2012
I have currently been through 4 iPhone 4s's and all 4 have had the same problem. they have all been find for about 2 weeks and then they all started staying at 100% for anywhere from 2 hours to up 8 hours before going down. Then they would start dying at like 13-14% battery life, as each day pasts it gets worst and my phone starts dying sooner and sooner. One of my phone got as bad as dying at 38% battery life. They all do the same thing, they hit a certain point then it goes from whatever % it is at to 1% then just shuts off.

So about a month ago, I take my iPhone 4S to the Apple Store because the battery is dying in like 4 hours and it is getting real hot. They replace it with a new iPhone 4S. Today I take that phone to the Apple Store because it is getting hot and battery dies in like 4 hours. They give me a new one to replace. 2 hours later my new iPhone is hot and dying. I do not get it. It can't be the phone (it is brand new) it can't be the Apps there is only one on there (FB). I think I may have a corrupt iTunes Account?

Since I upgraded to the iOS 5.1 my battery life on the iPhone 4S has been ridiculous. For example, I left my house at 740am with my phone on 100%, I have browsed a little (safari and facebook) for no more than 20-30 mins in total. No apps are not running in the background as I ensure to close apps once i have finished with them. And now at 1400 I am left with 28% battery. i am not due to be at home until 1900.
Have I been unlucky with getting a dodgy iPhone from Orange?? the model is MD242B if that helps. Also, notifications and banners are all turned off except for phone, messages, whatsapp, remainders, calendar. I am careful not to over charge my phone, I do use an app called BatteryDoc to monitor my charging.
I always let my battery go flat before charging to 100% (with no trickle change), i believe this is a normal charge and what BatteryDoc advises i perform a full charge..

I’ve got a BlackBerry Curve 8900 (ATT, running 4.2.0.108), and have had it since Oct. 2009. Battery life has always been OK - 24 to 48 hrs. between recharges.
Today though, after pulling it off the charger this morning around 8:00 a.m., I’ve noticed that I’m down to about 5% charge by 2:30 p.m. I have made no phone calls today, and have only sent/received a couple texts and rec’d two emails. I've never used a holster, have downloaded no apps, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are both off. No keys appear to be sticking. Absolutely nothing, to my knowledge, of any significance has changed on the phone since October, yet all of a sudden --literally, overnight --I am experiencing this greatly diminished battery life. The only even remotely precipitating factor I can think of is that I did a battery pull yesterday, after deleting some old photos and emails.
I’ve searched the forum, and most of the suggestions are along the lines of “turn off bluetooth/wi-fi/update OS,” but as noted, I never used those anyhow, and the OS has always been good to me.

I have a Torch 9800 phone. Lately I have had issues with the phone dieing after a few seconds of looking at an app or taking a picture. My battery reads 98% and after looking at the app the phone shuts down in seconds as there is not enough power. Some times I can reboot the phone and it will show a high percentage then dies again. I have re installed the OS a few times now and have not added any apps. Is this the battery or the phone having issues? I do not want to waist money on a new battery if it is the phone because for the most part it keeps a charge only not when your using it for more than a phone.

Wondering if anyone has had similar problem. My battery for x10 has now started to last only 4hours - even during the night when its not in use.I already have brightness down as low as possible and have followed all the other guidelines to utilise battery life. The strange thing is that I have not changed anything on the phone recently and the battery just started dying!!!!! Extremely frustrated as I also seem to be receiving texts a lot later than they were sent even though I have full network coverage. I have had the phone since October 2010.

Battery life, with no phone use at all, and no apps at all, is about 7 hours. System Busy clock frequently prevents use, and screen occasionally goes black and is unresponsive for a couple of minutes. Battery has been replaced, but that did not improve anything.
At this point, despite many years with BlackBerry, I am seriously considering going Apple.

My bb curve 8520 is about a year old. 3 days ago i noticed the battery went from 100% to 0% in a span of some minutes. i recharged the battery and noticed it kept doing the same thing. I then replaced the battery thinking it had run its course but the problem persists. I have no open programs running and no new applications installed that might be using up the battery. the phone gets warm and the battery dies rapidly.

So a little over a year now I had my LG G3. Its been about a week of not a bit more that I've noticed this. I still have the same apps that I've had before. I deleted all the new ones I installed. I charge it all night before bed. When I wake up its at 100% I can leave it there and it goes down to 90% in like 30 minutes. So of course I tried to restart the phone.
I've been charging the phone more then 4 times a day, that's how fast it has been dying. It gets super super super hot at the stop of the camera, and then of course my phone goes really slow. But it gets so hot you burn yourself. I seriously can't think of another way of why it is dying so fast. I've never had a phone problem like thos before. I've tried installing apps, to clean stuff won't work.

When I use the slider lock button, the screen stays on. The lock icon shows up at the top right of the screen, so I know the slider action is detected. This happens in both normal and power saving mode.

My 1 month old s6 (920i) struggles to get a 3.5hr SOT during the day. Coming from the s3 where i used to easily get a 5hr SOT with the same usage style i can say this is pathetic. In the battery section top of the list i have Android OS and Google Services, followed by Facebook and Instagram.
Note that i have most of the things turned off except when using them, such as wifi, gps, nfc etc... Also i tried booting to stock recovery and clearing cache but this has not solved the issue. The phone does go to deep sleep as i have checked using BBS.

I have already read enough of this great forum post, I hope in the future to helpbeginners like me, one day we had to IOS (formerly had a Galaxy S2) and now we are more than comfortable with my 4s!I have the cell phone constantly charging, either in the Dock, when I go to bed, Through The cable in my university (when I'm in class or on the computer in the Library), this because the phone if consuming battery (I have the iOS 5.0.1) and hate running out of battery (no phone) when I'm away from home. Then the doubt (I've already searched in many forums) is whether this is detrimental tothe battery of the phone, or simply when the iPhone detects that is loaded, just stops receiving load and nothing happens:

It is an undisputed fact that I can store a LOT more audio on my 3.2GB 3GS (on O/S 3.1.3) than I can on my new iPhone 4 32GB. I mean a LOT less - like 20%.
I loaded the EXACT same settings, apps and songs into the iPhone 4 using a 3GS backup. Absolutely no difference. When I tried to syncronize the first time, it loaded the settings fine until it started to copy the songs over. I got an error message saying there was not enough room. I was going to be 3GB short! Yes, I lost 3GB of available audio storage on my iPhone 4 32GB vs 3GS 32GB.
I cancelled this operation and looked at the total "available" capacity of each device. The iPhone 4 was at 29.1GB and the 3GS was at 29.3 - the iPhone 4 obviously reserves slightly more for OS 4, but not significant enough to account for the 3GB less music storage.
I thought the error message might be a fluke, so I loaded my audio in little chunks until I reached capacity, and sure enough, I could load about 20% less songs than in my 3GS.
So what's up here? It makes no sense to me. One thing to note is that I'm using the on-the-fly 128 kbps conversion option (checkbox on the "summary" page when syncing). Since I copied over most songs on my 3GS when I was using iTunes 9.1 and OS 3.1.3, it could be that iTunes 9.2 (maybe in combination with OS 4) has a less efficient conversion routine when converting a 256 kpbs song to 128 kpbs. Or maybe OS 4 is reserving more space per song for some reason.
Has anyone else experienced this? This is a MAJOR deal for me since I already was VERY disappointed that their was no 64GB phone, and now it's even WORSE because I have to unload ANOTHER 20% on my music!

Yesterday my mobile slipped from hand. After that when charge went down I connected the plug for charging and left for 2hours when I removed the mobile from plug again it shows battery low. After few hours the battery is completely discharged and mobile is not getting switched on without direct power supply. When its connected to power supply I see the battery charging animation shows as its charging.

So had my N900 for a little over a week now and overall I'm pretty impressed. Great phone, but still very much a work in progress. One of the main issues I have at the moment, other than no turn-by-turn navigation (sorry, had to mention it), is the battery life - or lack of!
On an average weekday I use the phone to send a few texts (no more than 10), scan the news sites (no more then 20-30mins total) and catch up on my RSS feeds (again, no more than 20-30 mins total). I'm not using the media player at all and I may make one or two short calls.
Bottom line is that I'm struggling to get more than 6 hours battery life out of it. I know smart phones are thirsty, but I don't even get to listen to music on my way to or from work! Here's what I've already done to reduce battery consumption:
Removed active widgets (such as ForcaWeather) from desktops and replaced with web shortcuts.Reduced screen brightness to 2 barsDisabled GPS & Network positioningDisabled IMDisabled BluetoothI've heard some mention reducing the amount of active desktops, but I think that kinda defeats the object of having a N900. May as well buy a lesser phone if you need to strip out all the functionality to get though the day. I'd be satisfied with 8-10 hours medium use. At the moment I'm getting around 6 hours at light use - got to be something I'm missing.

Iam a Uscc agent and I have a customer with the electrify and their phone is dying within a couple of hours and only sending a couple of text messages and making one phone call I have given a battery swap and checked the phone for any bad apps but there were no additional applications installed and settings do not seem out of place and compared it to mine that I have abd everything matches and mine lasts me an entire day of heavy use. I am just wondering if there is anything else that could be draining the battery or a way to fix it?

I installed 4.1 on 3GS yesterday, and it feels like I've got better battery life or at least more accurate battery reading. After about a day of usage, i hardly used to get about 40% remaining at night, but today, I've got it on 54.

Last night I charged my phone to 100% from a dead battery, was finished around 2am. I used twitter and played a little fruit ninja, made a couple calls today and used some WiFi. I turned on my battery percentage and it was 47%... Pre 4.1 I would still have around 70% left.

I upgraded to iOS 4 last week & now my battery life is about 1/2 what it used to be.
It used to comfortably last a day, now it last about 1/2 that - I definitely have to charge it while at work each day.Anyone else found this?I'm hoping some solution can be found & slipped into an update - this handset is only a year old, so the OS upgrade should not have quite such a dreadful impact.

I have put my iPhone to 0% then charged to 100% three times now. Before the third time, I downloaded battery doctor. It seemed pretty cool that it can show me how much time everything takes, so I decided to check again after charging to 100%.
When checking, I see that everything is lower than it should be. It's actually comparable to a 3GS, and not my 4.
(URL)
For example, battery doctor says my phone can have 30hr audio playback, 5hr talk time on 3G, and 3G internet time is 5hr. This is all comparable to the 3GS, which really disappoints me.
Is it giving me 3GS times because it identifies my phone as an unknown phone, or is there something wrong with my battery?
If it helps, IIRC I had around 7 hours(maybe a bit more) of usage, and 1 day 19 hours on standby right before it went to 0%.

I just got a 2G iphone used, it is jailbroken and unlocked OS 3.0. I am trying to decide if i am getting crappy battery life (due to a worn out battery) or if my usage is normal. with heavy use I need to charge daily, if i dont use it alot it can last maybe 2 days - 2.5 days. ive never gone more than 2.5 days because I tend to use it more.
In this screen shot I tried to use it as much as possible yesterday. maybe 1 hour talk time. 30 mins ipod and the rest is safari, email and apps/games using wifi.
- BT off
- Wifi on
- Brightness to 30% (auto is off)
- Edge on
- All push and fetch is off.
So based on my usage if I replaced the battery usually $50 in my area will i notice a big difference? please post your usage with 2G and OS 3.0, screen shots if possible.
