My front button doesn't work again. Had this fixed a week ago and it stopped working again. So how do I backup the iPhone without being able to close the email account it is in now and get to the Settings without using the front button?
View 1 Repliesmy out of warranty iPhone 4 power button stopped functioning all of a sudden and it also no longer made that "click" when pressed. What did I do?I decided to open up the phone and tried to do this, (at 4:30 is what I did)[URL]It basically shows a guy who bonded a very very small washer to the bottom of the power button. I tried this and it didn't work, probably because my washer was a was too big, i filed it down a bit, still didn't work, so I just put it back together, i noticed a few things:After Reassembly, this happened: power button still does not work, and doesn't "click"iPhone camera app shutter does not open and the bottom right "camera/video" icons just flicker, I've concluded this is because of the front camera not working.the ear speaker for phone calls is now "crackly".I noticed my WiFi and network signal isn't as strong, maybe a bar less on WiFi and a bar or 2 less on network.
Temporary solutions:A walk around camera fix is that i installed "camera plus pro" and this allows me to take photos and video. If I switch to the front camera it freezes, again confirming the front camera is not working.What should I do next?So I obviously did something when i took my phone apart and put it back together. When I charged last time my communicator and re-used it I discovered malfunctions at the front buttons. E.g. it is not possible to release the keyboard lock of when pressing the green button (for starting a call) and see the last calls on screen it switch to the function which is assigned to the upper button. Also when choosing an operation the phone wrongly moves to voice recording!
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with my new Torch 9810 where the 4 front control keys remain illuminated after the touch screen dims out (phone answer key, blackberry key, return key, end call key). The only way to fix it temporarily is doing a battery pull but after about an hour it happens again. Really drains the battery down fast. I've tried numerous battery pulls, reinstalled the OS, repaired the OS, changed my backlight settings. Security wipe and re install. I don't know what caused it. Nothing had been installed on the phone for the past couple months, and it only started 3 days ago. Screen Lock does nothing.

I have lost ~20 pictures I took during my family's 4th of July event this weekend. It was the first time they have met my 17 month old daughter. Normally I wouldn't sweat loosing pictures, but these are very important to me.It restored every picture up until the backup I did before I left Sunday morning. My buttons seemed to have stopped working properly. In order to adjust the volume using the side button, I have to shut down the phone and then restart it. It will work for a while and then stops working and I have to go thru the process again. The home button just works whenever it wants. It doesn't fix the problem when I restart the phone. I can slide my finger in a circle around the button and it still doesn't work.

I have been backing up an iPhone 4 to iCloud for a while. I then purchased a new iPhone 4 as the old one was damaged, and set it up as a new phone. I haven't got around to setting up icloid backup yet. I now realise I want some data from an app in the old backup. Here is what I propose to do:
1. Backup new iPhone to iCloud
2. Restore new iPhone from old backup
3. Use the app's 'Email me my data feature' to get a copy of the DB
4. Restore new iPhone from new backup
Clearly I can only do this if during step 1 it doesn't overwrite the old backup. Can I have two separate backups?
I just updated to iOS 5.1.1 on my 3GS phone, previously using 5.0, while plugged into the computer and iTunes 10.6.3. I had the phone set to backup to iCloud, and ran a sync operation before updating.Does that not also create a backup?When the restore process began, it asked if I wanted to set up as a new phone or restore from backup. However the list of available backups did not have anything from today.The last one listed was from October 2011.So I cancelled that operation, went through the new phone setup and then it asked if I wanted to restore from iCloud. So I chose the most recent iCloud backup which was from around 6 AM this morning. Now it is in the process of downloading all my apps, pics, and perhaps music as well. I don't know but it's going to take HOURS to finish this.
Anyway I opened some apps that have already downloaded, and some app data appears to be intact. But other apps have nothing after October 2011. And I'm talking apps that have tracked my fitness and workout progress over the past 6 months, bike rides in the past few months, car fuel fillup and maintenance history since October, I'm talking LOTS of data that appears to be gone.What did I do wrong here? Did I not do what I should have done regarding backups? What is the point of backing up to iCloud if it's not going to back up all my app data?

It says it is too big to back up to icloud and then when I plug it into my (new) laptop it is asking me to connect to the original backup PC which is no longer in existence?Â

Sorry if this has been covered but when watching a facetime demo I noticed that the button has replaced the hold button. Has apple deemed the hold function redundant? Or am I missing something.

I seriously, 100% and completely agree with you. I really believe in the touch screen. I love it for everything I do on there. I don't think physical keyboards are easier like some people keep crowing, but GOD, the on-screen camera button is SO EFFING TERRIBLE I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! It makes it so awkward to hold the phone and push the button. There is a level of deep-rooted frustration that pops up when using any piece of technology other than my iphone. The only time that frustrated feeling takes over with the iphone is when I have to use that on-screen button to take a picture. It's a pain in the ass, taking multiple pictures sucks, taking pictures quickly sucks, being unaware of my surrounding while i'm concentrating on threading the needle that is making sure i hit the button correctly sucks. It takes the fun out of photography, it takes the spontaneity away and negates the whole advantage of having a camera with you at all times.
Please somebody beg, borrow, or kidnap steve into making the Perfectly positioned to be a shutter button in a comfortable and funny way that just works. Volume button into a camera shutter / video start stop button when the camera button is open.or at least give me the option. I did some looking and the Camera Zoom 2 app has this as an option. Anybody know of any others? I don't like being stuck using a 3rd party camera app as I'd rather use the one that apple designed to work best with their camera. Maybe I'm just paranoid about other camera apps taking longer, and taking worse pictures, but I really want apple to make this an option.
