View 1 RepliesI have a CDMA Hero with Cellular South (a regional carrier in MS, AL & FL). They have been generally pretty slow to provide updates and currently have only released Android 2.1 for this device. I was hoping that they would eventually provide a 2.2 update, as I understand that this would allow some applications to be moved to the flash card. Right now, the limitations of being able to store applications on only the phone memory is fairly constraining and makes the decision of whether to install or not install an app pretty tough.
I have been recently told that Cellular South does not intend to update this phone to 2.2, so it will be stuck forever on 2.1 (unless I install a 3rd party update). why this phone would not be updated to 2.2. Has HTC just decided to not support it any longer? If so, I've bought my last HTC phone.
Does any know what profiles the CDMA version of the hero supports? I see that the gsm version supports SPP but does the CMDA version support it? I'm trying to decided betweent he hero and the samsung moment but I need support for a bluetooth keyboard (either HID or SPP). If they hero doesn't have SPP support does anyone know where I can find a profile for it? I see I can add HID support here (possibly).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a HTC Hero on the regional carrier, Cellular South. For some time I've been using the WiFi, which comes in particularly handy in those places I visit where I can't get a cellular signal. Recently the WiFi just stopped working. It's turned on, it just does not work. I've uninstalled a number of applications, rebooted the phone and took it in to the Cellular South store, where the Hero expert looked at it. Their suggestion was a hard reset, which would wipe out everything on the phone. It would all have to be reloaded afterward. The suggestion came with no guarantee and they said that it might have to be replaced if the reset did not cure the problem. I've experienced other problems with the Hero falling back to "base Android" when the HTC Sense application got set to not autostart. This probably due to interaction with some downloaded application.
My question is if anyone else has experienced WiFi not working and knows of any non-destructive fixes for the problem? (e.g. look for a particular program that needs to be restarted)
Does anyone know how to get voice to text on the Hero 2.1? Under settings, there is something that says "text to speech" but I don't know how to get it to work. Also a major problem I have is that you can't jump through the address book/people by selecting a letter, you have to manually scroll through the entire address book to get to a phone number or contact that you want. Do anyone know a way around this?

I have just upgraded from a Motorola Razr V9 to this new phone and have a Blueant Supertooth 3 speakerphone. I had no problems making outgoing voice dial calls with the Motorola. I cannot figure out why it does not work on the Samsung. When you do a search for the specs of the Samsung Corby Pro many sites say that it has voice dial. I cannot find any mention of this feature in the instruction manual. When I called Rogers, my service provider they could not say if this phone has voice dial or not. When I called Samsung, the tech rep could not pull up any documentation about it.Buying new tech puts you in a bit of a bind I am finding.anyways if anybody managed to get it to work please reply.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I use voice dial (usually via bluetooth headset on iPhone 3GS), if the iPhone decides it has found an exact match, it will notify me of the match and then start dialing. It does not confirm the match with me, and when it starts dialing, the "Cancel" keyword does not work - nor does pressing the call button on my headset do anything.
Instead, I have to frantically dig my phone out of my pocket and scramble to the phone interface and presss "End Call" before the accidental international call goes through.
Is there a way to allow either or both actions in iOS? Or is there a way to submit an enhancement request?

Any way to assign the voice email to a dial pad key, e.g. "1" as is usually the case on "regular" phones? Have not found how to change settings of the voice mail yet (have the phone since yesterday.
View 13 Replies View RelatedAccuracy is terrible for me. Have tried it directly with the phone and through a Blueant Q1 headset. In both cases it's rare for the voice dialing to recognize the name or numbers I'm saying, even in a quietly running car with the windows closed and no music. Sometimes the guesses are completely off, like when I say "604" for the area code and it asks if I said "644".I've read on this board about training the devie to my voice but I can't see how to do that.As an aside, I hate the voice with the british accent that reads back the name or number - any way to change it to a North American accent?I'm running a 9550 with 5.0.0.320.
View 7 Replies View RelatedJust recently my voice-dial over my bluetooth stopped working - when I hit the button on my headset, all it does it redial the last number I had dialed. I'm not aware of any phone updates since it last worked. I've powered the phone off and on and still no luck. It was bad enough when I had to "wake it up" in order to use it. This is very frustrating - when I'm driving, I'm on the highway. I'm not stopping regularly for traffic lights so I can dial!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI see most other people with Android phones can long press the answer button on their bluetooth headset to start the voice dialing on the phone. When I do this, nothing happens. Should I be able to speak my contacts name and have it dial? Or is this option not available on the M8?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have my phone # associated with Google Voice such that when someone calls my Google Voice number ... it rings my iphone and my landling. I have configured GV (just like a lot of other GV users) to make me press 1 to take the incoming call.Â
This worked wonderfully on my iphone 4s (IOS 7.x). But there is a problem with either iPhone6 or IOS 8.XÂ ... now the problem ...Â
- When I pickup the call on the cell ... GV asks me to press 1 (like it always does). I press 1 ... No acknowledgement. I can hear the DTMF tone but it does not get registered.
- When I pickup the call on my landline ... I am able to press 1 and accept the incoming call.
- My first thought was there is a bug in IOS when the phone is in the locked screen ... but no ... even when I get the call with the phone unlocked ... it will not register any of the DTMF keys
- To test this I added my wife's iPhone 4 (not 4S) running IOS 7.1 to my GV account. I was able to answer the call by pressing 1.Â

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm about to compress a lot of short videos for mobile phones that will be online.
First i compressed as .mp4 (H.264/AAC) which worked fine on iPhone, worked ok on a SE-X1 (needed to load whole movie before it could play), the Hero couldn't recognize the file at all.
The info page for Hero says it handles mpeg-4 (H.263 and H.264) and MP3/AAC.Is it just the .mp4 container that the Hero doesn't like?Does anyone know what format that would be best for video on the net to work on most phones?
I have a brand new ozone that I need to program for Pageplus. I need to dial *22890, but I can't dial. The phone prompts me to hit the send key which dials *228, which does me no good. Is there any way to make this thing dial the number I need?
