With my HTC Hero I could scroll down to an address in contacts and the text would move from right to left so I could read the post code. How do I do this with the HTC Incredible S? Only way I've found so far is to select edit then manually thumb down to see the full address.

Specifically, I have accumulated entries in my Mac address book where the address, be it physical, e-mail, or phone is labeled "Boston" or "Summer Home" etc. and both the BB program and the Mark Space program won't transfer any entries that don't match the rigid blackberry set of work, home, fax, mobile. Will the address book program that comes with the Incredible and any synching software allow the kind of flexibility I have with the Mac address book? Address will be transferred as "Boston," etc. and not dropped. Must I do all this with the Google cloud, or can I transfer data directly from the Mac to the Incredible?How well does the voice recognition software work? At first the voice recognition worked on my BB, but as the software "learned" my voice it became completely useless.How easy is the Incredible to use with one hand?
From time to time, I really need turn by turn with voice commands navigation. Is Google maps really a viable alternative for Verizon Navigator? How well does the Android work with a weak signal? I have seen various complaints about the Incredible working with poor signals. Any truth to this? At my house and office, signal strength varies between 2G and 3G but for either signal fluctuates between -95 and -105 db. Will the HTC work with this poor of a signal? I have heard the screen is hard to read in full sun? How about a sunny day in a car when I am trying to make a phone call? Is it true with the Incredible on Verizon I can get Tethering and not pay extra for it like the BB?
Only got this phone yesterday so am still finding my way round it, but ive figured out how to show just my phone contacts when i go into contacts. But, when i want to send a text and go to select a contact, its hwoign everything twice, the phone contact and the sim contact. Why is this and how do i get it to just show one or the other?

Two things here. 1st the video at 30 secs long seems to be too big to send. I have tried recording it in both formats and at the lowest settings..Any thoughts on how to make it smaller? I was able to send video up to a minute long on my Blackberry so not sure what the problem here is.

When entering a new contact the software will not allow me to enter a Canadian style alpha-numeric postal code -- in that field the keyboard is set to only use the number pad. Even if i show the contact's country as canada the field does not change.I can, however, enter contacts in Contact Manger in Outlook then synch the address book -- and the postal code shows up properly.
I hope that there is someone out there who can help me. I have a W595 (Walkman); a super mobile phone that I have owned for 18 months without a problem. Today, I find that there is a problem whilst scrolling through my contacts stored on my phone (not SIM Card). After opening my contacts list from the "home" screen, the contacts list displays. Then, as I scroll down through them to the first one beginning with"C", the display reverts immediately to the "home" screen and then reopens the list starting from "A". If I reverse scroll, I can scroll up through the list and, when I reach first (top) "C" again, the display screen reverts immediately to the "home" screen but this time stays there! There is not a problem when I scroll through the SIM card-stored contacts.

i tried to reboot removing the battery for a minute and restart but still with the same problem.
Also i figured out that when y sync my bb with the desktop manager, the address book is not sync it says (Adress book not installed) that is why i can not swipe the contacts to reinstall the info because i have no back up of the address book
Just got this phone and manually input all of my contacts with no problem. One day later, all those contacts are gone and it won't let me add more contacts. I have even tried adding them to my SIM and then copying them over...but still nothing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just received a replacement handset. In order to repopulate my PIMs, I downloaded and installed Funambol. It connected and synced my calendar, tasks and notes, but the contacts have become corrupted. I can see them, but I can't access them or remove them.
I tried to remove them with the desktop manager. After a soft reboot, I could remove them, or so I thought, but even if I did a soft restart at this point, when I tried to restore from the backup I made before I got the replacement, I just get an error message saying that the restore failed. When I look, I find the contacts have all reappeared, but are still unusable. I even tried uninstalling Funambol and soft resetting, but the results were the same.
I have a Blackberry hooked up to an Ent. Server; after going to contacts, it apears that I have none. Although, if I type in someones number, and call, their name comes up. So it look like they're there somewhere, because it's grabbing their information, but how do I put them all in the address book?

When I reopen a little while later, the entire address has been placed in the first address field like a run-on sentance. Also, when I include the middle initial in the First Name field, it gets moved to the Last Name field in front of the last name that I entered. How can I stop this annoying behavior? Additional information: I am set-up to sync with gmail, but I did not change any contact information within gmail.

I am running Maps 3.03 on an E71. While this version provides free turn-by-turn navigation, which is great, I find that providing the destination address is much less convenient than it was in the previous, non-free version. Before, you'd enter a city from a menu and having done that, you got a menu of valid streets within that city and so on. Now you just get a single text-input box into which you have to type the address (and deal with the system's invariably wrong attempts to complete things).
This step backward provides an additional incentive to want to be able to choose the destination address by indicating an entry in your contacts database. Navigate me to THIS restaurant, or the home address of THIS person, etc. There appears to be no way to do this, unless I'm missing something. And, inexplicably, there also appears to be no way to copy-paste an address from the contacts app to the Maps app. I've attempted to check the documentation, which in Nokia E71 tradition, is useless.
If I'm missing something here, I'd appreciate being enlightened by someone. If I'm right about this, this is another example of why Nokia's market share in the US is miniscule and why their share worldwide is dropping. Smartphones cram a lot of capability into a very small package, which places a huge premium on user-interface design. This is a major factor, perhaps THE major factor, in the iPhone's success, despite the fact that it's not so great for making calls (unlike Nokia phones, which excel in that department).
I downloaded a CSV file of 2800 contacts to my new (used) BB 8700c. Turns out most of the contacts were garbled. I'd like to delete them all from the BB 8700c and start over. Is there any way to do a "select all" and then delete? Or even to shade multiple contact listings, scrolling down, and then delete? So far all I can see is being able to delete one by one, which would be impossible with 2800. My desktop manager software was installed for my BB Curve 8330 (Sprint). It seems to work partially for the BB 8700c (unlocked, formerly Cingular) but is unable to recognize applications on the device, and reports that a "certificate" is missing preventing use of the Media Manager (this may be because the 8700c does not have a camera so may not handle photos).

Yesterday I noticed that my iPhone had only about 25% of my usual contacts in it. I thought I would sync it today and make sure everything copied over well. Before syncing I checked address book on my mac to find that it was completely empty.
Any idea why these would be missing? I have a backup but it is from before I got my iPhone 2 weeks ago and had my contacts carried over from my old phone I can recover the contacts, but it would be a slow and long process and I don't want to have them go missing again.
I had done a 'RSET' to clear the contacts in the address book. Now I find that I am unable to save new contacts. Is there any way to resolve this problem without having to reinstall the OS.
