Nov 11, 2015I've looked around but couldn't find anything. I've noticed that when I change my DPI in the build.prop the Google Search bar is gone from the top of the recent app list. I've changed my DPI on every device I've owned, and this is the first time I've noticed this issue.
I've also noticed that once in a while it does appear, but I don't exactly know what's triggering it, and it will disappear the next time I go to the recents menu.
I'm most comfortable at 500 right now. I've tried 520, 480, and 420 (what the N5X is at). Everyone of them seems to have this issue. I really can't stand keeping it at 560.

Apr 19, 2014So I've had the M8 for a couple of weeks,I've NEVER used the 'Recent Apps' button, except to clear out all of the recently used apps, thinking maybe its gonna free up some memory and make the phone faster or something. I wish you could modify this button to maybe something you actually USE more, like 'Settings', or go back to the much missed 'Menu' button. I have immediate access to over 50 apps/actions on my home screen, so it would actually be slower to bring up the 'Recent Apps' screen to access an app.

Google Nexus 5 :: Disabled Power Button But It Reboots Phone
Dec 15, 2015I have a Nexus 5 with Android 4.4.4 and CyanogenMod 11. Like always, it had been working really find untill today, when it started to reboot and entered in a loop. I found out that it was because the power button was broken and with the lightest touch, it would activate. Searching through the Internet I found out that many people happen to have this problem. I tried to disable the power button editing a file that is found under /system/usr/keylayout/qpnp_pon.kl, where I had to simply comment the line where the power button was.
Now, if I click the power button it doesn't happen anything, like I was expecting, but after 30 seconds of clicking it, it shuts down and it reboots like if it was an internal error or someting similar that caused that reboot.Is it possible that disabling it the way I did could cause any type of problem that made it reboot after touching it?
I know it's an internal problem or something like this because when I touch it, it doesn't lock the screen or show the power menu, so the button itself is kind of "disabled", but it keeps causing this problem.

Nov 4, 2015I have problem with waking the phone with power/lock button. Every few hours (for my usage once a day) the phone doesn't wake after locking. I have to press and hold power/lock button for a few seconds to manualy restart it. I know that N5 has notorious problems with power/lock button but as far as I know its problem with phone not going to sleep. I don't have problem with that.
I noticed this after an update to M. I am on XtraSmooth 29.10 build with RacerKernel 28.10. DT2W dissabled. Also i have the usual problem of turning screen on after calls. For me the phone sometimes doesn't turn on until the other person ends the call. Do I need to replace the power/lock button?
Galaxy S6 :: Recent Apps Button Working Automatically?
May 17, 2015I have a s6, and my recent app button works automatically without me touching it.
If i touch the button it doesn't work.
If i touch the back the button it works and both the lights on the side buttons work.
But if i touch the recent apps button it doesn't work.
It will automatically work by itself and it does so to the point where i can use my phone, it keeps bringing up recent apps, split screen view, i cant even use my phone because the menu button keeps automatically pressing/working by itself. I don't know what caused this..

Mar 1, 2015I'm an unhappy victim of the great Lollipop Update. Now without warning the Recent Apps button and the Home button just stop responding periodically. Like I'll be in a phone call and want to take a picture or look something up and pressing Home or Recent Apps does nothing. If I restart the phone then they work as expected even when in a call. Eventually though, they just stop working.
I've been reading about others having bad luck with Lollipop. So I thought I'd just go back to 4.4.4 because everything worked then. So far, I've downloaded Kies3 and done a complete backup. I decided to try a factory reset to see if that would make Lollipop behave. Nope. Within 20 minutes the buttons stopped again. It's not always in calls, it's just that I can't restart the phone when in a call to make it work and that is not usable.
So, before I go regrade back to 4.4.4 - why the buttons just quit every so often and maybe how to fix it?

Jul 13, 2015send an SMS message to someone in Hangouts then delete the message. Now open up the Contacts app (not Dialer) and find that same person. Under the person's details you will see a section called Recents. You will see the message you just sent and deleted with no options, at least that i know of, to delete this message. It will stay there for a few days and then will disappear. But those few days keeping a deleted message is not a good thing. I can just imagine the number of people who are cheating get caught because they didn't know their spouse, boyfriend or girl friend can see who and what recent messages they've been sending to someone, that they thought they had deleted or cleared, just by browsing thru the Contacts app. I think this needs to be changed so that if you delete your messages in Hangouts it will also delete the corresponding message in Contacts instantly.

Jul 14, 2014I now for the past hour am trying to wipe the partition cache but when I get to the last step where it shows the no command instead of it bringing me to the recovery menu it just reboots every time.
To wipe the cache partition, follow these steps:
Turn off the device.
Press and hold the Volume Up and the Volume Down and Power keys at the same time for about 10 seconds.
An image of an Android lying on its back will appear.
Press the Volume Down key twice until "Recovery mode" appears on the screen.
Press the Power key to restart in "Recovery mode."
An image of an Android with a red triangle will appear.
While holding down the Power key, tap the Volume Up key.
The Android System Recovery screen will appear. Release all keys. (But it does not appear it just reboots the device and brings me back to the lock screen every time)
Use the Volume keys to scroll to wipe data cache partition and press the Power key to select.
The phone will restart.

Apr 25, 2014When I tap the google search bar on my nexus 5 homescreen I get a large white drop down with all my recent searches. Is there a way to clear this history? I have already logged into google.com/history and cleared all history on that site, but it still shows on that drop down.
The ONLY way I am able to get rid of them is by manually holding down EACH result and tapping "remove from search history". Is there a clear all option somewhere?

Feb 20, 2015Just a question for everyone that occasionally wipes the cache partition from recovery like I do. I'm on my 2nd replacement and after I set it all up I wiped the cache partition but for some reason it takes longer than usual for the process to finish. Usually it would be like 2 seconds where now it takes around 35-40 seconds to complete. How long does it usually take you to clear your cache?

Jul 23, 2014Got to the end of a run today and my RunKeeper app was locked up. I finally got it to close, but then the phone started rapidly and constantly cycling through apps and screens, even moving apps and widget around. It's like an invisible person is constantly touching and dragging their fingers across the screen. Holding down the power button for 5 seconds got it shut down, but when restarted, it resumed it's app cycling. I could have gotten some sweat (from my run) on the volume buttons or down in the headset jack, so I stuck it in a bag of rice to cover that possibility. A factory reset is an option I can explore later tonight if no other suggestions are made.

Jul 10, 2014I'm running CM11 M8, but I've been having this problem with many previous builds.Problem is, whenever I'm listening to music using either the Google Music app or Apollo, and I decide to clear the recent tasks list, playback is stopped. I would assume this was by design, if it weren't for three factors.
1) This post by Diane Hackborn, specifically "uses the new API to tell any services of the application about the task being removed so it can do whatever it thinks is appropriate."
And I should hardly think that stopping playback just cos you're clearing the recent tasks is appropriate. One should be allowed to clear the recent tasks list entirely, and see no change in phone behaviour. The recent task list is not a task manager.
2) This wasn't the way it used to behave (I think circa Jellybean)
3) The Music icon remains in the notification bar even when playback stops.
Is this a bug underlying 4.4.4? Or is a problem with CM only?

Nov 4, 2015Am I crazy or does Marshmallow not have a way of clearing all the recently used apps that come up when you hit the square button? I realize 6.0 does a great job of managing power when many apps are open, but I'd just like to keep things a bit tidier when hitting that button so I can more easily switch between recently used apps.
