Galaxy S6 :: Recent Apps Button Working Automatically?
May 17, 2015
I have a s6, and my recent app button works automatically without me touching it.
If i touch the button it doesn't work.
If i touch the back the button it works and both the lights on the side buttons work.
But if i touch the recent apps button it doesn't work.
It will automatically work by itself and it does so to the point where i can use my phone, it keeps bringing up recent apps, split screen view, i cant even use my phone because the menu button keeps automatically pressing/working by itself. I don't know what caused this..
When browsing trough one of my favourite news sites, I noticed when pressing the return button, it does the same as the recent apps button. It brings up the list of all my recently used apps.
I have tried a bunch of things like clearing the cache, getting a third party app to get a return button on the screen, even a full factory reset.
I'm an unhappy victim of the great Lollipop Update. Now without warning the Recent Apps button and the Home button just stop responding periodically. Like I'll be in a phone call and want to take a picture or look something up and pressing Home or Recent Apps does nothing. If I restart the phone then they work as expected even when in a call. Eventually though, they just stop working.
I've been reading about others having bad luck with Lollipop. So I thought I'd just go back to 4.4.4 because everything worked then. So far, I've downloaded Kies3 and done a complete backup. I decided to try a factory reset to see if that would make Lollipop behave. Nope. Within 20 minutes the buttons stopped again. It's not always in calls, it's just that I can't restart the phone when in a call to make it work and that is not usable.
So, before I go regrade back to 4.4.4 - why the buttons just quit every so often and maybe how to fix it?
So I've had the M8 for a couple of weeks,I've NEVER used the 'Recent Apps' button, except to clear out all of the recently used apps, thinking maybe its gonna free up some memory and make the phone faster or something. I wish you could modify this button to maybe something you actually USE more, like 'Settings', or go back to the much missed 'Menu' button. I have immediate access to over 50 apps/actions on my home screen, so it would actually be slower to bring up the 'Recent Apps' screen to access an app.
I am curently using the Samsung galaxy s5 active and my recent apps button is no longer working. Everytime I press it nothing happens. I have tried restarting my phone multiple times, thinking that might fix the problem, but nothing is working.
I have an unlocked M7, just recently updated from 4.4.2 to 5.0.2. No it's not rooted or anything like that. Now for some unknown reason the Home button has only one function: return to home screen. If I double-click it, nothing happens. No "recent apps" screen. If I hold it, nothing happens either. No app menu opens. The key doesn't even vibrate anymore, I think it used to?
The reason I know the key works at all is that it does actually get me to the home screen if I just "click" it I have tried clearing the cache (in the recovery menu), no difference. I have turned on/off all possible settings, no difference. I even booted into safe mode, no difference.
This is the info in the info screen: Android: 5.0.2HTC Sense: 6.0Software: 7.19.401.2HTC SDK: 6.55Kernel: 3.4.10-g4dad4ceVersion number: 7.19.401.2 CL482424 release-keysCW: M7_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR HTC_Nordic_News/95333.
I use my phone now. The recent apps/multiwindow thing keeps popping up, no matter what I'm doing and even if I quit all my running apps. Despite restarts and complete phone drainage, this problem keeps occuring for the past month or 2.
I use my phone to play games a lot (like several hours a day), have active Line group conversations, use Facebook app frequently w/its Messenger app, and I also use Dodol Launcher for my phone too. I really don't want to go to the factory default method of fixing things, especially since it's a major pain to reinstall all the games that I have installed. However, a quick search through google doesn't seem to show any results about this continuous recent apps popup bug.
so over the weekend, while I was away from home, the home button on my iPhone 4 stopped working. It happened suddenly, and the only preceding events I can think of were that (1) we had heavy rain but I kept the phone in my pocket and neither my pocket nor the phone were wet when I took it out after the rain had passed (2) I downloaded the F1 timing app which initially had some crashing issues. I'm not sure if either of these contributed but it's possible. While the home button wouldn't work at all when pressed, I found that the voice control was starting automatically (and calling my contacts without me knowing). This would suggest a long press of the home button I think however I couldn't replicate it with the button. To avoid calling more contacts from my pocket I turned the phone off but it turned itself straight back on and always went straight to voice control after starting up. I finally got around this by leaving the phone on flight mode while not in use. I also found the accessibility setting to have an on-screen home button which made the phone slightly usable but not ideal.
When I charged the phone that evening it came up with the recovery screen requesting that I plug into iTunes. As I was away and without my laptop I was not able to do this but got through the weekend by cancelling lots of voice control pop ups and a lot of flight mode use. Now I'm home I have connected to iTunes and a restore was required. I followed this right through, the restore completes and when it reconnects to iTunes it says it needs to restore again. At this stage I can unplug it, turn it off and on again and use it.If it's turned on while unplugged it will start ok and then can be connected to iTunes and synced but the voice control will still start automatically after turning on and the home button does not work at all.If it's turned on while plugged in it will be in recovery mode and request a restore again.
Daily Racing, Clean Doctor, Clean Master, TouchPal all have ended up on my Galaxy S5 without me installing them. Each will reinstall themselves a few minutes after I uninstall them. AVG finds the first 3 apps to be 'unwanted programs' Lookout finds no faults with any of them. What app is controlling them? and how do I delete them for good? Noticed them a few weeks ago and uninstalled them, a few days later they were back. Now it does it in minutes, phone is becoming unusable because AVG keeps popping up to tell me there back. Its like the Poltergeist movie 'their here!'
Is there a way to see which app were updated by the system? My S5 is set to automatically update all apps. Yesterday, Jan 12 2015 some apps were automatically updated by my phone. Since then, the phone is overheating and does not appear to charge (wireless) at a normal speed...If I could figure out which apps were updated when, then I could either roll back the update or remove the apps.

the home button doesnt work whatsoever, but...... phone acts as if someone is repeatedly hammering on it! apps open and close all by themselves, voice dialling (altho disabled) . phone turns itself on after ive switched it off.. also when pressing on/off button phone just takes a photo of home screen. Phone was working fine 2 weeks ago . ive tried re-setting, deleting everything, reinstalling , hoovering, checking headphone port and charging port, but cant get the poxy thing working properly!
Like the subject says: does the Google play store automatically install the arm64 version of apps like Google chrome ? how can I check that? I didn't found anything about it when looking in the "about " section of the settings
why the back button is working by itself? I can feel the slight vibration when it does. Does it anytime I use the phone. The open apps button works by itself sometimes too. Hasn't been dropped, only had it a month!
Anyone SGS2 owner encounter power button sometimes not working properly? Not able to sleep/wake and long press for turn off/flight mode. Recently, have to take out battery while flight boarding.FYI: This is my 3rd replacement phone. High possibility causing by Android system. Or another hardware issue by Samsung.
It appears that the power button on my Galaxy S6 isn't working anymore. I have faulted this with samsung and they have asked me to send it to them for repair. Today, I was going to back up my phone but my battery went flat before I could do this and now I cant get the phone back on!! Some have suggested holding down the volume up button then plugging in the usb lead while connected to a computer, it didn't work. I have also tried the volume down button and the home button at the same time while plugged in via usb, this didn't work either. how I can get into recovery mode without using the power button, I really need to get the phone back on, the battery is sealed in.
Switching between apps is something I do a lot. I double tap the home button and then select the app that's one before last many times. Is there a way to do this much faster?
Maybe some way to use two fingers to flip between these 2 apps? It would be a huge productivity boost for me.
I was lead to believe, from scouring these forums, that double tapping the home button will give a list of recent apps.if I open a multitasking app like the new eBay app (updated today) then close it using the home key and then reopen it it's righ where it left off as it should be.Now if I double tap hold down eBay and delete it from the list the next time I open eBay it opens from scratch.
So the list in the double tap screen is not a list of recent apps but a task manager to what is currently multitasking. For those apps that start from scratch just don't have the multitasking programmer into them.
I'm getting multiple instances of the stock messaging app showing up in the recent apps menu. Doesn't seem to be happening with other apps that I've seen.
I'm running Lollipop 5.1.1 and whenever I swipe away recent apps in the task switcher such as Chrome or Play Store, there is a lag/stutter before the app leaves the screen. It swipes away and then pauses for a second before leaving.
I have a problem , my iphone 4s sometimes stops opening apps I bought on the app store and most of the time I have to uninstall them and download them again on icloud. This does not fix the problem permanently. Could it be my recent upgrade to the latest version of IOS?
