Have had my Nexus 5 for 4 days, and i noticed the other day that when i press the sleep button the power-down screen animation no longer happens. i dont really know the official term but it looks like an old CRT TV turning off, thats the best way i can describe it. so instead the screen just goes black. This really is not a problem just something i noticed and was curious about.
View 5 RepliesSo recently for some reason my Nexus 5 gets stuck on the booting animation. I think it was updating to 6.0.1 or something but I'm not sure, because I just woke up one day and the phone wouldn't boot, and when it finally did it just gets stuck on the boot animation. I've tried to flash stock images and etc but I need an unlocked boot loader and for some reason if the phone doesn't boot completely after unlocking the bootloader, then it gets re-locked. So now my last option is to use the stock recovery to wipe data or something but when I go to the screen with the dead android guy, no combination of buttons seem to make the recovery options show up.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy N5 decided suddenly the other day to stop working. I held it, it turned off and on and then the boot animation just continued. I have googled and tried everything I can but it seems to go wrong someplace every time. I tried to wipe it from recovery mode but then it gave this as "error message".

I've made a nandroid backup with cwm. Backed Up the files to notebook via adb pull. Then, wiped factory reset (in cwm) and flashed Developer Preview of android M. Boot on android M works like a charm. Then, made an android M nandroid backup with cwm. Backed up these files to notebook via adb pull.
Then, bring back the files of first nandroid backup to device, via adb push. Pushed the correct folder to /data/media/clockworkmod/backup.

-Boot in cwm, made a wipe factory reset (in cwm).
-Flashed again 5.1.1 image files (boot, radio, bootloader, system and cache).

-Now, restore nandroid backup (the 5.1.1 one).
Everything looks good, and no error messages by now. But when reboot, I've got a stuck on logo animation. It took a half hour or more, and nothing. There’s nothing to do about it.
I tried found a solution, but the main thing I've heard is to flash 5.1.1 again. I did it, and works. I can bring back to a brand new installation. But I can't use anymore my nandroid backup.

The problem is : Google Logo stays displayed. Bootanimation doesnt displays and so, it seems it prevents phone from displaying Setup Wizard, and Android UI. Maybe the problem is "libsecureui.so" dlopen failed.
I am running the Purity Rom on my Nexus 5. Now I wanted to change my boot animation. I wanted to know if Purity allows me to change the boot animation and what is the quickest and safest way to do this. And one last question is changing the boot animation risky?
View 4 Replies View RelatedA friend asked me to look at his Nexus 5. It seemed as though his son was trying to flash a custom rom but somewhere along the way things went wrong and it got stuck on the boot animation.
I tried resetting it to factory using this thread. Followed method 2 and finished it up with "Wipe data/factory data" reset. I did not however relock the boot loader.
I used the factory image 6.0.1 (MMB29S).
Everything went well, no errors, but even after doing all that the phone is still stuck on the boot animation. I tried redoing the "Wipe data/factory data" reset, but the phone is still stuck on boot animation. I left for around 20 minutes with no change.
All the other threads I have read seem to indicate doing the "wipe data/factory data" reset should correct this issue but it hasn't seemed to work.
Just out of curiosity, What speed do you keep your screen animations at in developer settings?
View 9 Replies View RelatedThen i installed Pure Nexus rom and it was working fine. Then i installed Elemental X kernal, didn't change anything from stock options other than double tap 2 wake, and it would stay forever in the boot animation. Not a boot loop, but the animation with the circles.
So i figured, i had a TWRP backup from before i rooted and all that and restored from that, still same never ending boot animation
EDIT::: I unchecked selinux enforcing but i still get the same issue. I noticed when trying to restore from recovery it would reboot when trying to flash the system, and that it would not be able to flash the system while trying to install pure nexus rom.
So I updated to Marshmallow from Lollipop via fastboot on my Mac. Upon installing SuperSU and rebooting, I got stuck on the boot animation. Cache wipe and factory reset - still no go, and after the factory reset, I lost TWRP. I tried installing it again only to receive a black screen when rebooting into recovery mode. Tried another factory reset and reinstalled Marshmallow - same issue. I have contacted Google and there's nothing they can do.

View 4 Replies View Related"keep wifi on during sleep" is set to "only when plugged in" - it worked like a charm in lollipop (it switched off wifi after some seconds of disactivity), it doesn't now.
In lollipop after some seconds of inactivity wifi was turned off, that was proper behavior I guess... It is not working in Marshmallow.
Today I've suddenly started getting a grey pop up with the following text:You must enable sleep mode in "Settings" -> "Sleep settings" settings screen.I haven't changed anything or installed anything new so not sure what's going on.

View 2 Replies View RelatedFor the past couple of months, it's been fine, showing commute times and the weather where I'm at and stories related to searches, etc. But in the past couple of days, it has fallen apart, now saying 99% of the time that it has no cards for me at this time. Even after repeated weather requests, it won't pop a card for it unless I manually set one for home.
I've tried toggling it off and on; switching accounts; erasing stored data (which only wiped out all my home screens); nothing works but turning it off and on and opting in which beings up one set of news story cards which when swiped away never return. No stocks, no weather, no commute times, nada, nyet, nothing.
After uninstalling updates to Google Search - WARNING: This will reset all your homescreens to default, wiping out your folders, etc. - it seems to restore normal Now function. Just make sure to update Search to current before rebuilding your home screens otherwise you'll have to swipe from the beginning of your app list every time.
I installed CM12 on my Nexus 5 two month ago and it works fine. But I have the problem that it doesn't react when I press the powerbutton to wake it up from deepsleep mode. Then I could only reboot it.
I changed the "network type" in the settings to "3G" because my provider only supports it and I thought it could solve my problem. But it also hangs up the phone anymore.... I adapted the settings of the phone in the following way:
- Installed "Apex Launcher" as the default one
- Installed Klear Kat CM12 as Theme
- Additional Apps are: Greenify and SD Maid
I just tried the following steps to fix the problem:
1 . Installed another Launcher instead of "Apex Launcher" ---> I had the problem anymore with the other Launcher
2. Installed Open Gapps "nano" instead of "micro" ---> it ran without any crashes of the phone for a period of time. But now I have the problem again....
3. I wiped "cache" and "dalvik cache" again in TWRP --> System was clean and ran for a while. But after a period of time the problam "came back"
When I'm at home in my Wifi I doesn't have any problems with the phone to wake it up from deepsleep. Lastly I installed CM13 and had done an Fullwipe before... But I've the problem anymore .... I've the feeling that the phone looses it's reception and then the Launcher hangs and can't get up of his own....
For months I was happily using my Nexus 5 with a SoundID 300 earpiece. Pushing the call button went into a dialer dialog with voice prompts and responses. Suddenly a few weeks ago it started going to the Google Now (aka Google Search?) function (the one you get when you say "OK Google"). Although it will generally recognize the same voice commands as the dialer dialog, there are no voice prompts or responses, so if Google Now has crashed or decides to prompt on screen for "OK or Cancel", I have to get the phone out and look at it to see why it didn't dial.

I can crop and everything like normal but once I'm finished I cannot select apply. I've tried uninstalling xposed with no luck.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI may have stopped "google framwork services" last week, but I do not think this is related.Basically, my gmail app no longer gets push notifications or syncs automatically.I have android 5.0.1. nexus 5 and the latest gmail app versions. I have checked all settings in the app, and made sure that all my sync settings are enabled. I can see that the last sync of gmail was over 30 minutes ago, yet I've sent emails to my gmail account since then and they appear on the web version.The app won;t show new emails until I manually refresh within the app.
I googled a bit and saw that some people with a similar issue dod a "factory reset" to solve. that seems a bit extreme. Is there any other way around this. I've done all the usual things, cleared data in gmail app and forced stop and restarted phone.I even removed my google account and readded it. nothing worked.
My Nexus 5 phone is running Android 6.0.1, but shortly before that, I switched from a T-Mobile Prepaid plan to a postpaid plan and then, immediately back to a prepaid plan again. The thing is that I had a $30/month prepaid plan which is not available as a postpaid plan. But no one told me. They just said that I was eligible for a postpaid plan after 18 months. Of course, I jumped right back when they wanted to charge me $50/month. So that is what caused the texting trouble.
