Galaxy S5 :: Best Way To Back Up Apps And Settings
Oct 31, 2014
What is the best way to back up apps and settings so if I get a new Samsung phone I won't have to re-create my settings and download my apps again? I found Kies and backed up on my Mac. Is that reliable? Is there a way to do it in the cloud like Apple's iCloud? I just switched from t-mobile to Verizon and had to re-create my settings and download my non stock Google Apps again and that was time consuming. My S5 isn't rooted and I don't plan to root it.
How I would go with setting my phone back to factory settings after it was rooted "i purchased it like this" Bare in mind i live in Australia and my model is SM-G900I and im locked to the Australian OPTUS network, I am needing the factory ROM so i can reset the phone, been trying to find one but have had no luck...
I have been using the fingerprint scan security for a week or so and I decided it's just too laggy to keep using. Now I can not figure out how to go back to just swiping up top unlock the screen. The section labeled "swipe" in the settings is grayed out.
I can't access my setting menu, press the left "button" and the settings option is there I press it and the menu pops up for about a second then goes back to the home screen, if I go in through apps menu its the same, its a stock S2 about a month old on T mobile uk.
Now that I'm getting to grip a little more with my SGS II then the next stage is to look at security. On my old phone I had a pin code lock for when the phone was turned on. The nearest I've seen to that is the encrypt device option.Has anyone any recommendations as to good practices for security on android phones, especially with the auto sync of some accounts needed for running which makes me want to lock the phone down tight should it get into undesirable hands.
Every app I am in, whenever I get an interruption like the alarm going on, when i turn it off, the app refreshes and goes back to the beginning. So if I am using the browser to post something over the internet and the alarm turns on, when i turn it off, my page will refresh and i will loose everything i wrote.
It is the same when using the menu. If i go to a specific tab, and then to a sub-tab, whenever i press the back button, i return to the beginnig of the menu, to the quick settings tab.
Another example, if im using any app, i get a message from whatsapp, if i read it and go to whatsapp to reply, when i get back to the app, it refreshes and goes back to the beginning It's really bugging and i don't think it is normal.
I have a Sprint S5 running stock Lollipop. I have moved any apps that can be to the SD card. Anytime those apps are updated, they move back to the device storage. I got this phone shortly before Sprint pushed the Lollipop update so I cannot say for sure if I was having this issue prior to Lollipop.
I'm constantly battling low internal drive space on my Tab S (I'll NEVER buy another 16GB internal drive device), but this question should also pertain to my S6.
When I go into my "Storage" settings, I have the option to clear my cache with one click. I'd like to use this function to clear off my cached browsing, imgur, etc., but my concern is my games.
1) If I clear the cache, will I lose my saved game data? 2) Will I lose any settings for any apps?
Around a week ago I used a friends 'selfie stick'. The same day I was walking around Windsor and noted that the phone had powered down. I tried pressing the power key, but the phone did not turn on. I took the battery out, replaced it and then the phone came back on.
The problem now seems to reoccur when I have put my phone in my back pocket and either walk some distance, or keep it in my back pocket in the car (for some reason).
When I was arranging my homescreens a message popped up saying there was a critical error. All of the 3 homescreens were set back automatically to the factory settings.
I was messing around testing something with Wifi -but I really don't like to run on that often due to battery issues. I changed it back - but there is one setting "grayed out" that I am unable to "uncheck." See print screen...How do I get to that grayed out setting so I can change it?
How can I restore my blackberry bold 9700 back to factory settings? The phone has a mind of it's own, only some buttons are working and it keeps turning itself off, calling random people and so on and it's only been since the last update it did.. need to restore.
Using 9550 as a MP3 player - not connected to phone service. suddenly not working saying license is expired. Spent hours trying to fix w/rhapsody tech supp. They say I need to reset OS back to factory settings. How?
I have a problem with my BlackBerry Bold 9700. I have BES and working well but no browsing even thru Wireless I cannot open any site. I have checked each and every option but the result is the same. It seems that I have done something wrong and unlikely put some option on/off. To make the life easy, it is better to make it as factory setting or format it completely but I don't know the command or option to do it.
I have a device that was previously for my corp/enterprise environment...they upgrades us and let us keep the old devices. I'm trying to wipe the IT policy (it's a bank, they lock BBs down with manacles and three-headed dogs) so my daughter can use it, but it keeps failing when I use BB Desktop's "Reset to Factory Settings" option:An Error Occurred While Resetting to Factory Settings"
