Galaxy S5 :: Why Do Some Apps Prompt For Root Access But Few Don't
Apr 22, 2015
I have samsung galaxy S5 running android 5.0.I have rooted my phone and here the problem starts, allmost all apps are able to get root access but few battery saver don't even detect that my phone is rooted for e.g. Du battery saver, battery doctor. Everything worked fine on 4.4.2 but after update this problem occurred...
On my Galaxy S4, I had 360 security and I loved it. This app kept my phone running just the way I liked, and it also remove all the garbage apps I will never use. When I upgraded to the S6, one of the first apps that I downloaded was 360, however, whenever I attempt to delete the unwanted apps, the message I get is:
"This function cannot be used at the moment. 360 Security has not been granted root access."
I want to update to Lollipop so I want to unroot. When I tried to update, obviously it says it can't work. The weird thing is that I don't have root access anymore. So what do I do? I used towelroot.
First of all i Understand that this would potentially void my Warranty, but what if im Perfectly fine with that?Is it possible to gain root privileges on Xperia X10 and / or flash modified System Images, lots of developers and Power users would benefit from that.
I recently upgraded my s3 to a s6. But now im struggling to find the menu buttons in-app.. like on my s-planner app.. i want to update my calender on it but i cant find the menu on it. Normally i pressed my left touch button to open it but now it opens a multi-window.
Ive been googling for an answer but i couldnt find a solution for it. Ive read that there should be some sort of a little 3-dot button to access the menu but i only see that in half of my apps.
I was having GB version of android on my Xperia Pro. I am using X-plore file manager. When I tried to go to root enabled setting from settings menu of the app. the app said root access disabled and I was never able to get root access. Yesterday I updated to ICS from PC Companion and my app. was already there on my memory card. When I opened the app I was able to go to root folder and the app. haven't said that the root access is disabled. I disabled root enabled setting from settings menu of the app. but I am worrying about wheather any other app. that I install can change my root (default) files. Also my phone is in warranty and it is said that warranty will void if you root your phone. But I have updated my phone through PC Companion and just want to confirm that my warranty won't void.
regarding apps when they ask for permission to access your call, msg, etc on installion. I was wonder if it's safe to install such apps which want total control and also if there is a software to block them from access on your phone.
Can i block internet access for an app without using another app?? Has the s6 any feature that can do it??? I know there are apps that can do that but i want to know if its possible without using any other app.
Do you think it may be possible that we can get root access without unlocking the bootloader - I'm a little reluctant to unlock the bootloader because of the QFuse blowing.
I have a banking app refusing to run since it thinks thatmy phone (Nexus 5 running 5.1.1) is rooted. Only problem is that it's not. Or at least i think so....
I have understood that the banking app concerned checks if the phone is rooted by checking for SU binary in systembin and systemxbin, and fair enough, by xbin contains the SU file. I was rooted on 4.4 (or 5?) using towelroot. The bootloader has been locked all the time. I never rooted on 5.1 and above since I didnt want to wipe, and as it didnt matter much to me.
My questions are
1) Can I restore the root in some way, given that the SU binary exists without wiping the data? I tried Superuser app but naturally it failded to update the binary.
2) Can I delete the SU binary somehow without root access? At this point i only have read access to the systemxbin directory.
I just got my brand new S6 128 gb from ATT and when I go into airplane mode I get this prompt asking me to confirm, but it seems like there is no way to disable it which is pretty annoying. Any app that will allow me to go into airplane mode without getting a prompt? My previous M9 did not have this problem. Also I do not mind sideloading an app that allows me to have this capability.
so I have a nexus 6 I am trying to root and I am using nexus 6 root toolkit I do everything they say to do but when I install the custom rom it says I don't have root access what am I doing wrong. I have tried to root it like 3 times now and it does the same thing.
In the Screen Lock Type setting I have Fingerprints. At times when I wake the device it looks for me to use my saved fingerprint, but most times it still expects me to use swipe style to unlock.
My phone says its has the following - ndroid version: 2.3.3Baseband version: I9100BUKG1Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9100BUKG2-CL342890 root@DELL102 #2Build number: GINGERBREAD.BUKG2ies says may phone has the latest firmware (Kies also updated) but since I updated the phone about 3 weeks ago it keeps restart (as if powered off/on) at various times (during calls, internet access, running apps). Went into my local VF shop and they said to check there has not been a never firmware update but Kies finds nothing. Is anyone else experiencing this?
For MB865 Atrix 2 - 2.3.6 stock rom unrooted, anybody know of any working apps for screenshot capture & a call recorder or would this be available on upcoming ICS or not (for unrooted stock rom again of course)
I DLd apps before I got my phone, not knowing I'd need root. I was using a file explorer last night to browse my phone, found the apps which remained untouched, then opened and used the installer...bam 2 apps installed, after DLing them using my laptop and transferring them to my phone. Get that! WITHOUT ROOT!
I now have a S6 and so far it is not rooted. The one thing I miss a lot is the ability to "completely" remove all ads. AdAway does a great job but you need to be rooted to use it. Ad Blocker tries but does not get all the ads . Of all the things I miss by not rooting this is at the top of my list.
I've a galaxy s6 with stock rom. I've rooted my device and I like to encrypt my device. But when I do so, it stuck on the encryption screen for 1 day. When rebooting, the device tell me to wipe the phone because of a failure of encryption.
I currently have Galaxy S6 G920FD. I prevously I am on 5.0.2 with CSC:GLB (Country:Philippines, Network:Globe). I successfuly flashed the French 5.1.1 ROM. Now I flashed back to my native Globe 5.1.1. Problem is the CSC is Thailand and not Globe. How do I change the CSC without root? Tried going to Recovery mode doing full cache wipe and full reset but still it sets the Thailand CSC.
