Nokia :: N95 - Phone Switched Off / White Background Comes Back On
Feb 11, 2010My mum only gave me this phone 2days ago as she got a new one. She's never had a problem with it and has kept it in a hard case so still looks brand new. I always have a habit of breaking or losing phones, this is 3rd one in 4 months. Anyway I picked my phone up and it was switched off but I presumed it was dead as I had left my music playing. I put it on charge only for 10 minutes but I never tried switchig it on as I forgot to take it out with me. I put it on charge again last nite but it won't turn on this morning. The screen comes up white with the battery sign on the right which stops after a minute as I assume its fully charged now. Its not the charger as my bf uses it for his and the phone does seem to be charging. The on button can't be broken as when I press it the white background comes back on. I've tried the hard reset wth the 3 * and green button but nothing.

Apr 24, 2012I have a bold 3 (9780), while browsing the internet my phone froze for a bit. I than managed to switch on and off. When it restarted I couldn't access applications on the menu. I than switched off again, when I restarted, the screen background appeared white, with a message saying app error 606 and with a small reset link below. I have clicked the reset many times but to no use. I even took out the battery a few times, but nothing has worked.

May 2, 2012Have been using my lumia 900 for a month. I noticed that there is a white/hissing noise in the background from the phone when listening to music using headphones. It starts right before the music starts to play and stops some seconds after pausing music. There is also a click sound in between songs. I can definitely confirm this is not from music files. If I plug headphones in and unlock the phone when not playing any music, I can hear the white background noise for a few seconds before it goes off. I've seen several posts reporting on the same issue from both lumia 800 and 900 (search white noise in the forum). It is very annoying! In addition, the volume buttons on my lumia 900 don't always work when screen is off, which has also been seen by many users. I'd say listening to music from headphones using lumia 900 is a bad experience due to these issues. I like lumia's design and overall it is a great phone. But these bugs disappoint me a lot.

Jul 1, 2012i just noticed that whenever i text and the background is white, the screen usually blinks a little but noticeable,, for example here i will text this is white background i will see from here that my screen is blinking while im texting specially when i'll touch the space bar.. Uhmm its not a major problem but i found it somewht annoying on my part because my friend has a nokia lumia 610 and i already tried what ive tried on my nokia lumia 900 and it seems that his phone has no problem regarding with the littleness blinking screen.. Hmmm it is only 6days old phone.,Fyi guys ive tried to adjust the brightness to low,medium and high. And switch to white screen background would i just reset the phone?? Does someone experiencing what im experiencing right now??

Jun 24, 2014I have noticed an issue with the Galaxy S5 that apparently only occurs with the Verizon variant. I work for a place called Wireless Advocates, we are the cell phone kiosk inside of Costco. I'm asking about this because I've had three customers come in to ask about this background data issue.
I'm not sure what triggers this issue but when I try opening up google play I get the "Background Data Disabled : Google Play Store Needs background data to be Enabled" error. It then gives you the ability to either quit or enable the data. If you press enable it takes you to the account screen in settings.
When I go to Data usage the option to "restrict background data" is greyed out. You can't even select it and it isn't checkmarked either. Just to clarify, accessing the internet and other things on the phone work perfectly fine. It's just the use of Google Play that is having issues. I called Samsung customer care and they aren't aware of this issue at all. Also note that force stopping google play, play services, removing the google accounts and adding them back and rebooting the phone haven't solved it. After the reboot the phone will appear fine and then a box that says "Restricting background data".
Nokia :: 5800 Brand New Phone - Screen Smudged When Have A White Background Such As Web Browser
Apr 15, 2010I just purchased a brand new Nokia 5800 from Amazon yesterday. The phone works great, but I'm not so sure about the screen. It looks fine, but when I have a white background such as when using the web browser it looks kind of smudged. It's not an issue of the phone actually being smudged, because I've cleaned it several times. The screen just looks kind of fuzzy and it's just not as clear as I had hoped. Is this just as good as it gets for screen quality on the 5800, or is it my phone?

Jan 5, 2012I was surfing the web on my Lumia 800! It appears that whenever u get to a webpage (or application) that contains a white background and black text (which is usually the case in most pages!) and u look closely u can notice some moire effects that appears as horizontal white lines next to the text and these lines follows the text even when scrolling!! This is specially notable when u zoom in on a text or place the handset in landscape mode. Also the same moire effect appears but with vertical lines shifting between red and white as u zoom in and out of a picture with a white background! And No I don't have any screen protector (that in some cases can cause this effect) and Yes this is clearly a display issue because of these lines are being followed by my scrolling and not on a specific area on the display!

When I go into "Phone", "Voicemail", "Text", etc. the background is black with white font (or in the case of Text, the background is dark blue with grey lettering). I am unable to read light colored font against a dark background so am having a terrible time with this update. Is there a way to change the color of the background and make the font black? I've tried changing the Display, Wallpaper, etc but that has no effect on the default background colors of the apps.

Jul 17, 2011I am using Advanced Task Killer which I'm finding really useful. I have an ignore list set and it kills the apps that aren't being used regularly. However, I'm wondering why these apps keep restarting again. The sort of things that keep restarting are Gallery, Messaging, Yahoo! Messenger, Email, Skype, Maps, etc. I'm sure that I'm signed out on all of these apps and have the settings set such that they shouldn't keep restarting/synching. Are there any apps similar to 'msconfig' in Windows where you can tick which things you want to start up and what you don't?
