Galaxy S5 :: How Do Message Notification Sounds Work
Mar 11, 2015
Isn't my message notification supposed to work when someone replies to a message I sent? It only makes the sound when I am off the message page where our conversation is going on.
I have set my S5 Mini with all the sounds I want, different sounds for different things.
However when it comes to the Clock > Alarm, something I use on a regular basis (old timers is setting in), even though in "Notifications" I have set it to the sound I want, the Clock > Alarm just refuses to play ball, it always defaults back to Samsung's sound.
It is such a quiet sound, I have on occasion missed an appointment, I normally remember to set the sound I want the phone to play, but on the odd occasion I have forgotten, hence the missed appointments.
I have searched the phone for these sounds, hooked the phone up to my PC, and done a search just on the phone for those pesky Samsung sounds. Both way's it cannot find the sound I so desperately want to be rid of.
All of my other Ringtones and Notifications work as I have set them, bar Clock > Alarm.
I have had the Droid Turbo for just over a week now. My notification sounds for my texts, my yahoo email and also Facebook will work for a day or two and then they will all stop working. I have tried running the phone in safe mode and that did not work. If I reboot the phone the ywill start working again but only for a day or two.
I am having an issue with my S5 ever since I got it. Multiple times throughout the day, I hear a notification sound (like I have a text message) but there is no notification of any sort what so ever whenever I review my phone.
I did not have the issue on my GS4, and I pretty much have all the same apps installed.
I use Google Play Music from my phone over Wi-Fi to listen to music in my car. Since I started using my Galaxy S6 my notification sounds get played over my car stereo. It interiors my music and I find it annoying. This did not happen on my previous phone. I can't find a setting to turn this off. I hope I'm just missing it.
My question has to do with the stock messaging app. My carrier is verizon. I'm trying to apply notification sounds to each contact so I can tell who's texting me. I've applied the tone to the individual contacts, but when I receive a message from anyone, it is the same default tone. How do I override this and make it use the assigned tones per contact?
I am using a standard Galaxy S6, just downloaded the update yesterday with Verizon. Ever since then whenever I get a text message I have been getting my standard text ringtone as well as my default notification sound. Not sure at all how to go about fixing this. Looked in settings but to no avail. Tried resetting phone but didn't do anything.I found out through some trial and error that the thing causing the text notification ringtone and the default notification to both ring is having vibration turned on for texts. Turned it off and the problem is resolved.
I have a galaxy s5, set the notification noise for text to repeat every 2 minutes, its not doing it though. When I get a text it just makes the noise once, thats it .Why and how to change this?
I just bought my Samsung galaxy s6 edge 5 days ago it's been working fine up until today. When I received a text message it didn't make the sound so I thought my phone was on vibrate or silent but it wasn't so then I went to settings and checked my notification setting and when I clicked the sound it didn't make a sound. So then I checked if I could hear the ringtone and I also couldn't hear. Mind you the volume is all the way up. So I decided to restart my phone and the sound worked gain but after a while the sound went away again and idk what is causing it.
I have a new S5 and notice when I plug in headphones the notification sounds are still audible from the phone speaker. I had an S3 and S4 and I'm certain when I plugged my headphones in the ringtones, etc were no longer audible. The were heard on the headphones along with the music or whatever I was listening to. Why this may be happening?
Any way to disable the wireless charging sound without rooting or silencing all notifications? This is pretty annoying not being able to turn it off. The first notification when I place the phone on the charger I'm fine with. It's the ones throughout the night that wake me. I've read when it's up to charge and trickling back down, or getting hot and pausing charges is why this happens. The only solution I found is rooting, which I rather not do until Knox isn't tripped.
in the text message conversation view, there's only a soft sound alert when new messages are received.even when the screen is off, you get no popup preview or a regular notification sound whatsoever.the only way to keep getting the regular notification & previews is to quit the app each time you send out a text.often times when you are in the middle of something and are unable to focus on the phone itself for the conversation, you forget to quit the message app, then you are totally not aware there have been messages coming in because it only gives you a soft sound alert that's totally unable to hear when you're outside walking, or other similar scenarios
It's been bugging me for years, it's specially annoying when the other person I chat with isn't aware of this issue and ocassionally misses out my messages.i mean,if apple insists that to avoid this problem, the users MUST remember to quit the conversation RIGHT AFTER EVERY SINGLE LINE, this is just absolutely unrealistic.I now do it every time because I'm aware of the issue, but not the other people I have conversations with.I've had too many situations where I had to wait for a long time to receive response only to find out that the other person wasn't aware the new text messages, because it was simply too soft to hear, and completely no other sort of things to notify you with.so i wonder if there really isn't a way to change the notification behavior, cuz apparently it's impossible that I make everybody I send text to change their habits just for this.
have a Samsung Galaxy SII recently the mother board had crashed all on it s own and I had to replace it. Fortunately the phone was under warranty, but I lost all dataMy phone got upgraded to ICS. All was well for a week, now wht has happened is , that the phone hangs, most apps I open, hang and all though all messages are read it shows unread 1, also the message notification sound has gone although I receive notification sound for all the other things, like whtsapp, gmail, gtalk etc.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 and I would like to know if I can set the message received notification to repeat itself so if I am away from my phone and missed the original notification it will continue to notify me until I acknowledge it
I have an S6 and can not find how to set up the text message alerts to continue notification every minute until the text is opened? Also - my notifications are only sent on the first text not when the responses come in?
When I get a new text or email if I unlock my phone and touch the email or message app and read or delete it, it still shows the notification in the upper left. If I then lock my phone and unlock it again it still shows the notification on the lock screen. I have gone and cleared the cache and data from the message app and restarted. The only way it goes away is if I swipe it away on the lock screen or select it from the lock screen and view/delete after it opens.
I've recently upgraded my Galaxy S5 and am having trouble with the lock screen. All i want is the message/whatapp and other ICONS to appear on the top left hand corner of the lock screen where it now says my carrier...All i want is the little icons nothing else.
Samsung Galaxy S5 running Android 5.0. I receive text messages from work through an email address. I have the address saved in my contacts as an email address. I would like to have a specific notification tone for these messages. Is this possible?
i have the samsung galaxy s2. Just wondering where i find the notification for lost calls or incoming messages.i mean : when the phone goes into standby (batterisaving) and screen goes "black" , id like to know if it is possible to have a light blinking that notify my that i have had a missed call or got a text message. as it is now i have to press middle button to check.
I have just changed phones from a HTC 610 to a Sony Xperia Z5 Compact.
In the days of my HTC's (3 of them) I used to always get a notification sound when I sent an SMS.
With the new Z5 Compact this does not happen, I do get a little message saying "Sent" for a moment and a little green arrow flashes up for a few seconds.
Not having the best of sight, or when outdoors, I am often unable to tell if the SMS actually went out. Is there a way to get a short tone to let me know that the message went out? I just can't seem to find a setting.
Not sure if this is an Android issue (current is 5.1.1, previous 4.2 and earlier) or if it is a Sony Z5 issue.
Over all the sound on the z3 is good. It's loud when turn up the volume on music and videos but for some reason the notifications tone is lower than when I select it to preview. I did check the audio settings and made sure the notification Sounds are at max. The clear audio etc. And it's seems like it's just a few notches to low.
Been trying to change my txt notifications sounds and every time I do and hit apply it says it's changed but when I get a txt it's still the old sound and it's damn annoying.
