Galaxy S6 :: Long Press Home Button - No Longer Opens Up Voice Search
Jul 14, 2015I install an app on the playstore for remote control of kodi on my htpc computer , after uninstalling it , noticed when I long press and hold my home button It no longer opens up voice search, it opens google now cards page I then have to click on the mic button at the top to perform a voice search.
Is there a way to reset this ? , I uninstalled updates on google app cleared data ect , now when I press and hold my home button I only get these 2 options.
If I select "google" it opens google now page (same way as above)
Looking for a way tog et pack the long press home button and you can instantly start talking to the google voice .
I am stock rooted...

Dec 17, 2014It does it intermittently, and I suspect it's because the whole phone is lagging - too many little background things running I suppose.
Assuming it's the lag problem (making a single press lag so long it seems like a long press), what are some strategies for clearing out less necessary tasks the phone is doing?

Mar 15, 2012When I doube tap the home button to use the camera from the home screen, it sort of 'hops' up about 1/2 a cm, but then bounces back down without opening the camera app, this is only since the upgrade to 5.1. I tried a hard reset, but no joy (and no shortcut to the camera either!!)

Motorola Droid Turbo :: Home Page Google Search Microphone Button Is Not Working
Dec 7, 2015I have a Droid Turbo. Sometime today the little microphone button on my home page has stopped working when pressed. It only happens on my homepages on the phone, so if I tap on Google and bring up the browser page or then I can tap on the microphone and talk.
If I'm on the Home Screen; however, I can press it again and again and it is totally unresponsive. I have tried:
-turning the phone off and on again,
- going onto home-screen settings and turning google search on and off
- downloaded a anti-virus program suggested by a friend with the same phone and done searches.
This may seem like a rather small issue, but I use that microphone button a lot when using my phone.

It would have been okay for me to set all three screens back to their original configuration but unfortunately, I can't edit the main homescreen. I can edit the two additional screens but NOT the main (1st) homescreen. It just says homescreen is full! Last thing I installed was the Xmas theme Rugge from the Nokia store.

Apr 17, 2015Yesterday I set up voice commands on my S6 under Google/Google Now. Under settings there was an opportunity to select whether you want the voice recognition just from within Google or "from any screen". I opted for "from any screen"had the "from any screen". Today no matter what I do it is just not available - the ONLY option shown is from within Google. The 'voice training' is gone, option for any screen is gone and I cannot get it back no matter what I tried.
I have tried it with TouchWiz, Nova launcher and Google Now launcher - same problem. I have tried English (US) English (Canada) and English (UK) as default language all to no avail.
Yesterday when it was "working" I definitely saw that the function was sporadic, sometimes worked, sometimes not. But now I can't even select that option.

Jul 1, 2015You will need a root explorer and All in One Gestures app.
Look in device/system/usr/keylayout for generic.kl
Make a backup of this file before editing.
Open it in a text editor and look for lines "Key 158 BACK" and "Key 172 HOME"
Swap BACK and HOME then save and reboot.
Then open All in One Gestures and under hardware keys tab, swap function of home and back again.
Somewhere along the line the wake function is dropped. Everything else works as normal.

Apparently I’m really bad at pressing buttons quickly (either that or the button is malfunctioning) because I keep accidentally bringing up this damn Google search page instead of the home screen.
Is there any possible way to disable the long-press or even just change what it does??? I’ve searched through the phone’s settings and all over the internet and haven’t found anything useful yet.

Mar 1, 2015I'm an unhappy victim of the great Lollipop Update. Now without warning the Recent Apps button and the Home button just stop responding periodically. Like I'll be in a phone call and want to take a picture or look something up and pressing Home or Recent Apps does nothing. If I restart the phone then they work as expected even when in a call. Eventually though, they just stop working.
I've been reading about others having bad luck with Lollipop. So I thought I'd just go back to 4.4.4 because everything worked then. So far, I've downloaded Kies3 and done a complete backup. I decided to try a factory reset to see if that would make Lollipop behave. Nope. Within 20 minutes the buttons stopped again. It's not always in calls, it's just that I can't restart the phone when in a call to make it work and that is not usable.
So, before I go regrade back to 4.4.4 - why the buttons just quit every so often and maybe how to fix it?
