Eseries / Communicators :: Will Swapping SIM Card Once Every Day Damage
Aug 27, 2012
I have this data dongle with a removable SIM card. Keep it plugged into the laptop all day long. At night, surfing the web is more convenient on the E7 than the laptop, and so I regularly turn off the E7, and replace the SIM card with the one I have in the dongle (haven't subscrived for a data plan on the SIM i use in the phone, cause i always have this laptop with me and paying for two data connections is an overkill, just need it for like 30 mins every night before I fall asleep). Don't really care about the dongle, i will throw it away if it breaks, it's not that expensive. But will removing the SIM card from the phone once every day damage the SIM card tray on the E7?
I dropped my E72 in Milk, turned it on after only cleaning the exterior, and it shorted out. Lesson learnt, I've cleaned it out etc. Don't bother lecturing me on this.At this stage, the phone will turn on, the Nokia title will come up, however the two hands will not play.It stays sitting at the Nokia title for about 5 seconds then it attempts to go to the main menu. Half of the main menu is visable, when the error message comes up saying "Not enough memory", and or "Phone cannot start, please contact retailer". Ok, so from this perspective, you would just judge this instantly and say the phone is stuffed. However I had many of important contacts, and notes in which I save frequently on this phone. I don't care if the phone will never work again, I just want to know if there is a way to survey what memory is available, and what is not. I want my contacts, I want my notes. Simple small bytes of memory, not megabytes.
I called up Nokia, and they dude was not extremely helpful, and kept refering to "Plugging it into the computer and using Ovi Sync". My computer does not recognise there is any devises plugged in when I plug in my E72 into the computer. Ovi sync will not have any better luck.I need someone else to do this for me, with detailed technical experience. Like maybe one of the guys at the Nokia warranty and repair warehouses. As title, my question remains, is it possible for the data to be retrieved? If so, great, I can order a new motherboard, and transfer the contacts/notes across, as all other components in my phone are fully functioning.
I have a Nokia E63 and have now upgraded and want to pass my E63 to my dad. Before I do, I want to transfer all my stuff off it to my sim or sd card to put into my new phone. Does anybody know how (if at all) I can transfer my text messages over to my sim to go in my new phone?
Last year I bought an E71 as part of a 24 month contract. Recently, my sister and I swapped phones and kept our respective sim cards (which are on the same network provider), my former phone accepts the sim card and she is able to send and recieve texts, and phone calls. The problem being that when she tries to make calls (from my former phone) there sometimes is no dial tone. I was told that the phone had saved data from my sim card and needed to be reformatted, is this the case?
I woke up this morning, my phone was fine, I surfed the itnernet, checked my messages etc. I then got the bus to work, during the journey the connection dropped (this sometimes happens but it always comes back after 30 secs or so) after a while the phone said "sim card registration failed".I restarted the phone, no luck.I took the phone apart, removed the sim, put everything back, no luck.I put the sim in another phone, that worked.I put a different sim in my own phone, no luck.I reset the phone to factory settings then put in the sim, no luck.I restored the phone, no luck.
I wasn't able to back up all my information via PC Suite as the connection kept going, so I backed it all up to my memory card. The phone is now working OK (including connecting to PC Suite) but I can't see the option to restore the information (calendar and contacts) from my memory card to my phone. I know it should be in File Manager, Memory Card, Options, but the option simply isn't there- I can either remove my memory card, or back up my phone to the memory card which as it has no information on it I don't want to do!

I have just bough a Lexar 32GB class 10 Micro SD card that I am trying to use to replace the current 8GB class 4 card in my Nokia E72. I am trying to copy the data that is on the old card over to the new card. I have used the Nokia suite to make a backup and then resort that back up to the new card but then some of my apps are not there. I have also tried to copy the conents of the old card to the my computer using a card reader and then copy this to the new card (inclusing all hidden files, using Windows Explorer). This gets me more apps back but not everything. So, what is the best way to upgrade the memory card an keep all the data?
I recently bought a new Nokia E5 and so far i love it. i have my previous network's SIM card and i want to "find" and save all my freinds' numbers onto my E5.
I updated the software on my E63, while the memory card was taken out. After the upgrade, when i re-insert my memory card, its asking for password. No password was ever set on the card. I dont want to lose my data
I change memory card form 2 GB to 4 GB in my nokia E5, but there is a problem, the device show that card as NO Name and I am not able to found how to rename the card..
I installed a 32gb Kingston memory card on my E5, used the phone to format it and restored data manually from my old memory card via USB/PC.. and am having several issues.OviMaps is no longer displaying street maps !When I take pictures, ~1MB files are created on my memory card in the pictures folder, but they are not readable by the phone or a PC.Ovi Suite says everything is up to date, and E5 does not allow you to download specific maps.
I know that this problem has been written all over the internet but seriously... no solution? The E71 works perfectly with other sim cards and no, it's not blacklisted. The sim card I want to use works perfectly on other cell phones like my Sony Ericsson (which I don't want to use). My E71 is not sim-locked and I do not know where to go than here! A weird thing is that the E71 can not find the operator I want to use either and the operator's net is really good on other phones.
I have been all over the web, FB'ing it to Nokia and to StraightTalk, and I am STILL unclear. I just got my E71 about a month ago and already it's saying I have used over 2 of the 4gigs that came with the phone. Don't see how, but okay. I went and got a 16GB card. A Mobile microSDHC by SanDisk. First of all, I've been getting conflicting reports that this phone will not even accept a 16GB card. Second, are there any important Apps preloaded by Nokia on this pre-installed card that I need to worry about possibly losing. I bought a bluetooth connector for my laptop, a dual-ended usb for data transfer from phone to PC and I also have 30GB of SugarSync. No adapter came with the 16GB card I just bought, but I have an unopened 4GB card by same manufacturer that does have an adapter. If this is your prescribed method, can the 16GB card go in the 4GB adapter? I really don't want to lose anything on my phone, especially none of OVI Maps, which I heard part of might be on this 4GB card. But I don't want to lose the apps I paid for either. I can't switch much to the phone memory, I have only 55MB.
I have an E63 phone with 1GB memory card. I am able to change settings for storing photos and music in the memory card. However, the sms that I receive get automatically saved in phone memory and I am not able to find how to change the setting to memory card.
So my Nokia E71 got **bleep**ed up and Straight Talk replaced it. I put my old memory card into my new phone. Whenever I turn it on it starts to install something... then ends up saying "Untrusted software on memory card. Go to application manager to install"There are old apps I had installed on my old phone in the app manager that I can't remove, and I think this may be the problem. when I try to remove them it says it failed. I can't see those apps in the OS or use them. They just appear as installed in the app manager. What do I do??
recently a message appeared on my e52 saying memory card was corrupt,so i bought a new one.the phone now says theres is no card.i have no option to format card in file manager.i also hard reset the phone and all that done was stop the camera from working, which seems to have happened to a few other people in here.nothing that ive read has worked.
Ok, so my E63's voice receiver had broken and i just bought a new E71. I had fully backed up my content on the E63 via the "Nokia Suite".
I then started up the new E71 and configured it, i removed my 8GB memory card from the E63 which was working perfectly and placed it into the E71, i go to encrypt the card on the E71 and receive this message " Key not matched to this memory card, memory card cannot be used ".I ignore the fact that i cannot acess my music on the memory card, so i restore my files from the E63 on the E71 via the Suite, i then receive the message that only 'part' of the backup was completed because it cannot fit the rest because there is no memory card or it is not in place. How do i receive my music via the memory card that was on the E63 and use the card on the E71 and finish the rest of my backup?
i am unable to access memory card in my e 72 mobile although it is working when i insert the meomery card in my laptop .. memory card not accessible and all the files are getting saved in phone memory.
I have only 228Mb of 1.86Gb (10%) free on my memory card. The "cities" folder alone contains 1.05Gb (over half of the available memory). This seems to be a ridiculous amount of memory to be consumed by just one application. I read in another topic that someone was getting "memory full" error messages when trying to download Ovi Maps, and the solution was to delete the "cities" folder prior to downloading /t5/Eseries-and-Communicators/Not-able-to-download-OVI-maps/m-p/883467#M83039 . Should I also delete the "cities" folder
i used to be able to access the memory card while connects to PC through Nokia PC Suite. however starting a couple days ago, i suddenly can't access memory card through PC suite anymore. memory card only becomes available after disconnecing the PC suit.
I have seen the option before, and it is in the manual, but neither of my E72s (both with latest s/w) will format the card, either as it was, with 14GB data, or formatted in Windows (7) and clean as the proverbial whistle.
I want to replace my current memory card for one of a bigger capacity but want to move the apps that are stored on it over to the new card. Not sure how to go about this or even if you can.
My beloved N900 dropped its USB connector, so I made a backup on the microSD card and took the phone to repair. I got an E7 in return. Now, I want my calendar, address book, and other things restored on the E7. My linux laptop can read the SD card. What should I do?
I'm rather surprised that the E7 doesn't have a memory card slot. Is Nokia adopting all of Apple's mistakes?
If absolutely necessary I have access to a Windows computer after a week, but I wouldn't like to be without my address book until then. So I'm willing to try even hackish things.
Well basically, is this possible? If so, how? The basic reason for this is because I am trying to free up space, so anything else I can do so move stuff to the SD card would be great (like contacts or anything else).
Any photos or backgrounds I put on my memory card are not viewable in the image gallery and If I move a image from the phone memory to my memory card in the image gallery It just disappears. I tested the memory card in another phone and it works fine
I have E71,I used to see the foldersand files in my memory card using file manager, but due to some virus, i took backup of memory card formatted it. the backup folder on my desktop was subjected to virus removal, and then again i restored the clean files to my memory card. but now i can not see the folder in my meory card using nokia e71 file manager but can see the files and folders using Mass Storage mode. please hlep me in resolving this issue, as I extensively use email and need to send lot of mobile files as attachment to my customers any time any where .
How on earth do i transfer, or copy would be even better, text messages from my E72 phone to memory card? Everytime i do the phone switch it stops after 3 messages ive tried it several times now
I have Nokia E5 handset. I am planning to upgrade it's memory card now. As per Nokia my handset supports upto 32 GBs of card (MicroSD). Now i want to ask you people that can i really use 32GB crad in it or shall i buy 16 GBs card instead? I am asking this because some of the dealers at my place said not to use maximum-supported card in nokia as it can hang or freeze the mobile. So, is it true???Also, since i can't get this card at my place i am planning to buy it from Ebay.in. I never used that site or any other site for shopping. So, is it safe and trustworthy or shall i get the card from any shop??
