IPhone 4 :: No Audio On Calls Even After Complete Restore To Factory Settings
Aug 28, 2014There is no audio on phone calls on my iPhone 4, not through the earpiece, speaker, headphone or bluetooth. I have completely reset the phone to factory setting with no change. When a call is made or answered the speaker button is highlighted without selecting it, but no audio is heard. I have used a different SIM just in case, no change. I'm wondering whether a full restore to factory settings does not actually reload the standard apps like 'Phone', Safari', etc that come preloaded. Therefore if the phone app is corrupted a restore will not fix it. Does the Phone app can be deleted and reinstalled?

Apr 7, 2012My 'facetime' stopped working for some reason. I did use facetime just a day ago and didn't do changes since then. For some reason it stopped working. So, as per my wife's advice, I did 'Reset all settings'. But, for some reason after doing its thing it is asking me to 'Set Up iPhone' with these options:Set Up as New iPhone, Restore from iCloud Backup, Restore from iTunes Backup. This scared me...did I lose my media. I have tons of videos and pictures of my son. I didn't want to lose them. So, I jsut stopped proceeding.

Mar 18, 2012I got an iPhone 4s in December and it was backing up to iCloud with no problems. Then in February, I got an error that there wasn't enough space for the next backup. I realised my daughter's iPod touch was using my iCloud account for backups also, so I deleted that, but still got the error. I deleted a bunch of photos, still not enough space. But I have quite a few photos, and figure I'll be taking more, so I purchased an additional 10GB of iCloud storage. It was saying I needed 7.5 GB for backup-- 7.2 GB for photos. But every time I try and backup, it fails. I no longer get the error about space, but it runs for a couple of hours, then I come back to an error message that the last backup failed. Additionally frustrating is that now it's saying it only needs 5.1GB of space-- so it looks like I probably could have just deleted some more photos and didn't need the additional 10GB.

Apr 16, 2012I have an iPhone 3 and just got a hand-me-down 4 from my nephew. I've got my AT&T number/account transferred to the iPhone4, and am trying to move everything from the 3 to the 4, and am having a problem getting all the data, apps, etc. backed up to my Mac iTunes so that I can "restore" them to the 4. Some stuff backs up (contacts and text messages, in particular), but none of my purchased apps. I've tried the following steps: Deleted all previous backups and manually started a new backup. This only results in about a two-minute backup, and same result (no purchased apps)Created a new user account and tried a new backup in iTunes. Same result.Erased all settings and data in my new iPhone 4 and tried a "new iPhone" restore from the iPhone 3 backup. Same result. In this case and the other "restores," I'm also getting duplicate contact entries!
Additionally, I went to the AT&T store to try to get the iPhone 3 "unlocked" so that I can pass it down the food chain to a relative who wants to use it on another carier, and found that most folks in AT&T and Apple customer service have yet to "get the memo" on unlocking AT&T iPhones that apparently came out last Friday (4/13!), and can't figure out how to get me the Apple unlock code for the phone. They say, "We're working on it!"

Sep 10, 2012I changed my Silent profile to alert me when messages arrive. Now that I realize I changed a whole profile I want to set Silent back to "silent", but none of the choices for "notifier tone", "volume", "count" or "play sounds" is the equivalent of silent - e.g.. I must choose at least number 1 for volume and number 1 for count - there are no "none" or "0" options.I'd like to include my BB model number with this post but I don't know where to find that information.

The "Play Sound: Always" for selected contacts should override any and all profiles set. In my case what I'm trying to do is to receive notifications or sounds from my family while the device is charging and in bedside mode but ONLY from them. I set a "Sleep" profile that is silent with the selected contacts to ring Always and it doesn't work.

Mar 2, 2012When I got my Torch, I was really glad that I was able to just set the Normal Profile and then the other Profiles just adjust accordingly when selected. I was messing around with my Profile settings today, and I somehow got my Vibrate Only Profile for the Phone's Vibration settings out of sync from the Normal Profile. Before it had "(Normal)" in front of "Custom" but now it's gone, see attachment. Is there a way I could set it back somehow?

My question is for those who have recommended a fresh install rather than a restore from backup. Are you referring only to the "Apps and Settings" backup and not the "text messages" backup?
