My camera does not make any sounds when I take a picture and there is no toggle in the settings to turn it back on. I haven't downloaded any app to turn off the sound either. I know the sound exists because when I take a screenshot it makes the familiar "click" but no sound when I take a picture with the camera.

I have the unikernel and have root. I DONT WANT TO USE ANOTHER CAMERA APP!!! So i navigated to /system/media/audio/ui and i clicked every audio file and i deleted all the sounds that had to do with the camera app and now it doesnt make any sounds when i make a picture or a video ONLY WHEN I MAKE A SELFIE WITH THE FRONT CAM IT STILL MAKES THE SHUTTER SOUND, BUT THE SOUND ISNT IN THE DIRECTORY!!! Jan 6, 2013I have an Xperia Active ST17i, android versions 4.0.4, and ever since I bought it I'm trying to find a way to turn off the sound but now luck. I have no option in my camera application. I read on different forums that I need to modify my build.prop file. Can't do that since I can't root my phone. I found the file, I found the line that I need to modify, but can't touch it ofc. I tried factory reset, in the hopes that it would put the camera sound from 1 to 0, but still no luck. I tried to put the phone on silet. Every application is silent, expet for the freakin` camera!!
So how the heck do I turn off that freakin` sound?

I get a message: "Uncaught exception: Application_net_rim_bb_file _explorer (1037) is not responding, process terminated. OK. " When I click OK the camera is still on and won't turn off. I rarely use the camera function, but did recently with no problems. Transferred pix to my computer, last use. Now camera doesn't work and I cannot view pictures in folder on my phone.

BEFORE </FeatureSet>
Save and restart Phone.
Open Camera - Settings - last line there you can find the ShutterSound!
