BB Torch :: Don't Broadcast The Message Will Loose Contact?
Nov 27, 2010
One of my BBM contacts has forwarded a msg onto me today saying that BBM is shutting down at midnight tonight and if I don't broadcast the msg I will loose my contact.Goes on to say that there has been an overusage of user names in BBM and that Blackberry are requesting all users to forward this message to their contact list? if i don;t forward it apparently they will take my account as invalid and it will be deleted within next 48hrs?? Not to ignore the message or Blackberry will no longer recognise my BBM pin?If after that I want to reactivate my account i will have a £25 charge added to monthly bill to reconnect? WTF
Whenever i try to broadcast a message, the message does get broadcasted but at the same time, Blackberry messenger crashes and have to open it again. Is this because of having many contacts?? have around 80 contacts at the moment which I don't think is alot.
I received a bbm message full of symbols (smileys and little logos) and at the bottom it said "Symbol will automatically update in your (bb logo), when you broadcast this message." So my question is, if I broadcast this message, How to do so., will I get all these symbols in my symbol list?
I've never had any problems with my BlackBerry Torch 9800 until today. I cannot receive text messages off one of my contacts but they are receiving my sent ones! I have restarted my phone by taking out the barrery and the SIM card 3 times with no change. As has my contact (he has a BlackBerry Curve). I have checked my Firewall settings (they are switched off) and neither of us are in each others blocked list.
I'm NOKIA C6-00 users, use it heavily on MESSAGES MANAGEMENT (SMS - GATEWAY) for communicating with customers. How can I change NUMBER-ID to CONTACT-ID after I SAVE-CONTACT the MESSAGE from that one person.( I save the MESSAGES number and given the name : Mr.David , but when i look back, the MESSAGES still shows his number not contact-id. The NEXT messages from him work normally, shown his contact-id : Mr.David )
I'm having some troubles with my BBM, whenever I try to send a broadcast, an error occurs and BBM is restarted. I deleted BBM and re-installed it, but the problem haven't gone.
1] Even though deactivated, Cell Broadcast options get re-activated if I Power-Off/Restart my phone. All other options remain unchanged.
2] USB port being near to touch button panel at the bottom, sometimes while charging, touch screen/touch button panel acts weird, making it difficult to use the phone.
I have just bought an Atrix 4g european version. A great phone, but is there a bug in the operating system ? (2.3.4 was preinstalled) When I try to connect to my home network via wifi and the router is not broadcasting the SSID, the phone cannot connect. When I change the router so the SSID is being broadcast, the phone can connect and has an "excellent" connection. My other mobile phone (HTC diamond 2) and laptop can both connect to the router when it is not broadcasting the SSID, so the router is okay.
I didn't know how to contact RIM for support in this issue but I believe that MANY ON THIS PLANET need RIM to invent some Broadcast Blocker. (i.e. blocking some annoying people on my bbm list who just can't stop spamming)
I don't believe deleting them is an ideal issue. I still want to contact them and have them contact me. Talking to them didn't work either.PLEASE RIM DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!! Its just a BUTTON that you will add to make your clients satisfied and not irritated
I have my home network set to "disable SSID Broadcast" which make my network name invisible when a device including my phone scans for wi-fi's; when I enable SSID Broadcast my phone can see the network name and it can connect to it when I input the network password...no problem so far, works perfectly! but when I disable again the SSID Broadcast then the phone gets disconnected. I try to connect to the network with SSID Broadcast disabled (the phone shows a wi-fi location with no name but stored which I assume it's mine) I type the SSID name and password but it won't connect again until the SSID Broadcast is enabled.
For security purposes I like to keep the SSID Broadcast disabled but then I can't connect my phone to the network. I have 2 desktops, 1 laptop, a Xbox and a Wii all connected wirelessly; I don't know why is not working with my phone.
I have an Xperia X10 Mini, and for the first time ever of using a mobile I want to set up a contact group for all the parents of my kids' football team so I can send out a single message to multiple contacts in one easy go. However, I cannot seem to find a way to do this with an X10. On my old Nokia, it was really easy, but having come into the modern world and finally upgraded to a smartphone, I would have thought this would have been a no-brainer!
I've searched this forum and (surprisingly) not found any references to what is possibly the most annoying "feature" that RIM has introduced since I've owned a berry. By providing the broadcast function in the newer versions of Messenger, my berry is now subject to the same stupid, irrelevant, inane and/or unoriginal jokes/rumours/prayer request-type junk mail that I strenuously guard my email inbox against. However, while I can set up filters and rules to block such unwanted email messages, there are no such controls present in BBM and the only way to effectively counter repeat offenders is to delete them from your contact list, which is a sledgehammer vs nut solution, to say the least.
In my list of contacts, there are certain individuals who regularly send out such broadcast messages and then there are others who are thoroughly irritated by them, like myself, but then compound the situation by sending out aggravated, ill-tempered broadcasts complaining about previous messages. When you have a couple hundred contacts, it really can get quite ridiculous at times on days when a popular joke or meme is making the rounds.
So, I would like to request that the BBM dev team seriously investigate adding a "Block Broadcasts" option - ideally on a per-contact basis, but I would settle for an all-or-nothing solution as I'm willing to sacrifice the 1% of useful messages I get if it spares me the disruption of the other 99%. If my own contact list is anything to go by, I'm not the only one who would be hugely grateful for this to be implemented as swiftly as possible, or am I the only grinch in the building?
I'd like to have control over the Emergency Broadcasts that come through my phone. Â Where do I find these settings at? Â I can't find where it is to save my life.
add an option on BB messenger to disable or enable receiving Broadcast messages . in my country even my father and grandfather send Broadcast messages without any reason?
Message inbox icon (notification/ indicator) for Text message does not appear on my Torch 9860 when I receive text message (the little tiny text message bubble icon).I get it for email and blackberry messenger (little envelop for email, blue bubble for messenger) but nothing for text message.
When you click on 'contact us' it takes you to a page where there is a panel ' call or email Nokia Care'. You can put in your area but that’s it. you cant send a message to Nokia care. So why do they pretend that you can. Yours disgruntled as usual.
On the previous OS 4.6, if I received a new SMS message from someone I didn't have in my contacts list, all I had to do was scroll up to the number, click the menu key, and then select "Add to Contacts" and then I could enter in all of the other pertinent information and save. On OS 5.0, however, I can not scroll up to the contacts number no matter what I do and there appears to be no way to add the number to my contacts without manually adding it or some other round-a-bout way.
So I would like to know how to get the contact picture next to the text message. It would be cool to have people profile picture show up in the sms app.
When I select any of these 1.vcf through 999.vcf they all go to the same blackberry message contact. How do I delete them? Where did they come from and can I delete them? I have to scroll down past all of them in order to see my regular files. I can't mass select them and I sure hate selecting them one at a time to delete them.
I just got this phone unlocked and as soon it arrived I tried to add a contact on the bbm or try to sent a message pin to pin message, but I`m unable to do that. When I try to sent this type of message, it`s saying that the service is blocked. I tried to reinstall the bbm and others things, besides to get help at my carrier.

For some reason, when i scroll to the top of the messages between me and my daughter, the call button is not there. EMail face time and Contact are there, but no call. When I press contact I get her contact and her number is right there, face time and email work as well; but I cannot call her from the message screen.
Additionally when I sent her a text and she responds my text to her is not shown and hers shows us as a new sequence of messages.
