My Blackberry Torch 9800 only rings once on an incoming call then it will simply vibrate. How do I get it to ring more than once.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs an avid business crackberry fan (and business manager) for over 3 years, I was appalled to find that I would need to slide the keyboard out to enter my security code, especially when I would do it 50-100 times per day. As every other touchscreen phone on the market has a pattern unlock method, this is the single issue preventing from purchasing this phone(s) PLEASE ISSUE AN UPDATE/APP/PATCH anything to bring this vital security & efficiency issue up to par.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure how to connect my school email to my blackberry Torch. My school e-mail is weird because when I go inside everything looks exactly like gmail but it isn't exactly gmail beacuse you can't sign on from www.gmail.com. Gotta go through the school website. It does provide instructions on how to link to the Blackberry but it doens't work for the Torch because the option doesn't exist.
(Instructions)To set up the BlackBerry's email client with Google Apps email (IMAP), just follow these steps:
On your BlackBerry device, navigate to your home screenSelect the icon that lets you set up email (this can be called Setup, Setup Wizard, Email Setup, BlackBerry Set-up, E-mail settings, or Personal Email Set-up)Follow the setup instructions provided on your device to create a new e-mail accountBe sure to enter the following:Mail Server: imap.gmail.comUsername: [your full Google Apps email address]Password: [your Google Apps password]IMAP Port: 993Allow the system to add your account, but do not enter your Google Apps password into the utility boxes (this causes the system to default to POP3 instead of IMAP)Select NextSelect Next again (bypassing the 'Additional Information Required' section)Select your account type, then select Next. You may encounter a 'We were unable to configure...' error. Select I will provide the settings to continueSelect the option that mentions 'IMAP/POP'Select I will provide the settings..., then select NextSelect Set up existing email account...Enter your Google Apps account information here, with 'imap.gmail.com' as your mail serverSelect NextSelect Save
As you already know, the ring volume on the Torch 9800 is extremely low. So I tried to email custom mp3 ringtones to my phone to use instead. In attempting to do so, I received a message saying "More request cannot be completed. Service book information not found." I also received this message when trying to email a photo to my blackberry. This never use to happen in past blackberries I have owned.
How do I fix this "service book information not found" issue ?
I have bought a Torch, but cannot get it to set up in the Organizer configuration to sync with my Calendar in MS Office XP- Outlook. My computer runs Windows XP. The contacts and memo will configure (although) they are posting to an archive folder and when I try to change that I get Error 0x80043bea), but the Calendar and Tasks will go through the set-up process, but when you finish it, the checkmark on those 2 Outlook folder disappears before you can even select the advance settings.I have re-set the configuration on the Desktop software a couple of times, to no avail, and uninstalled the Desktop 6.0 software and reinstalled it. None of these measures have changed the problem.Any suggestions?
View 5 Replies View RelatedQ) How can you power the phone down?
When the phone is off, it seems that a simple tap of the Red power button turns the phone on again. This seems like a design flaw. All other non BB devices that I know off require you to hold the power button for a couple of seconds to turn it back on.This prevents the phone from accidently being turned on.
Let me explain a use case. When you are flying you have to turn your phones off.So the normal procedure is to hold the red hang up key and the phone will power down. This is as expected.Assume you then put the BlackBerry device in the seat pocket in front of you.Midway through the flight you hit your knee against the seat pocket. The red power button it tapped during this process. The phone now powers on.You are about to land and your phone rings. The flight attendant and the passengers all give you unpleasant looks through no real fault of your own. This type of issue has occurred a few times.
I realize you can go in and manually turn off phone connections but this is an extra step.Turning the phone off should take care of this and there should stay off until the user wants to turn it on.
I see this behaviour on my 8310 and 8900 and 9800.I hope there is something simple I'm missing??
On my blackberry torch home screen, there is status icon on top which consists of a red circle with a white "w" in the middle of it. Just to the right is the number "1". Does anyone know what this means?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Blackberry Torch. I found that I cannot read Chinese character on torch, let alone input Chinese. It just display some black bulks instead of Chinese.
Somebody told me I have to wait for new OS versions which might includes languages like Chinese.
I feel that The Torch would be the best thing for Verizon! We are not iPhone people over here. We need a newer OS and the option of having our quarty keyboards that slides from a touch screen. It will blow the Storm out of the water and it will not have iPhony competition or even Android for that matter! Plus the Torch gives us a nice size for travel not like the Droid phones.
View 6 Replies View RelatedOn my Blackberry Toch 9800, it seems to freeze up on several occassions, most recently when downloading an application from "App World."After downloading an application from App World, when you run the application for the first time, it will ask you if you want to "share personal information." Whether it is checked or unchecked, the screen just freezes up after clicking "OK."
Is there a fix for this? This is a brand new device and I am already experiencing several screen lock up issues. I have already done a hard / soft reset, as well as a battery pull. I have also uninstalled the application and re-installed it, only to have this issue continue.
Since I got my Torch, I have had problems with Appworld:
1. The app itself cannot be download for OS6. It states "Sorry, your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Blackberry App World."When will this be available?
2. Downloading apps via the web page results in an email that gets sent that redirects me to the page to get the email sent to me again... so, I can't download the app this way, either.
I just bought a Blackberry Torch but have been unable to set up my corporate email using Enterprise Activation. I have the password from my IT group and have also reset the device. I keep getting an error that the Blackberry is unable to connect the server.

I am unable to sync files between my Torch and Windows XP SP3. I have BBDesktop 6 installed, the phone is connected via USB directly to the laptop, and all of the Media Sync options say:"You need to turn on mass storage mode from the connected BlackBerry device to use this feature."
I see no such configuration option on the phone. Also, in Windows file manager, the SD and USB drives appear as removable drives E: and F:, but they are unaccessible: "Please insert disk in drive.."
How do you get to the place in the phone where you do the Enterprise Activiation?
View 8 Replies View RelatedWas able to play with the Torch last week at the AT&T store by Grand Central Station in NYC (43rd and Lex). Went back today, and it's gone. Also no display in the AT&T store by my work on Times Square. Any reason why they're not out anymore? Is this a nationwide thing? Perhaps the software was pre-production and AT&T/RIM wasn't happy at the performance in the store?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI purchased my Blackberry Torch 7 hrs ago from a local ATT store and since I have activated it, it has locked up on me eight times. I have read some of the reviews where people have stated that this can be an issue. Is there a fix because I really like this BB but I need it to be dependable.
View 16 Replies View RelatedFor some reason my Torch will unlock by itself when placed in my case. The case was for a 9700 Bold and I tried at the ATT store with a pouch 'designed' for the Torch with the same results. The lock/unlock key is so sensitive that even in my pants pocket it will unlock.
All of my old BB's would not unlock until I hit the 2 combo keys which was fine. At least the bold would stay locked in the pouch which was fine.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI was running a few tests to see check speed of my browser on my home network over ATT. When I disable the Mobile Network and enable wifi to my home network, I get an error in my browser "You are not currently in an area that can handle data communication".
I connected successfully to my home network as shown by status on top of home screen. Is there another setting I need to select to 'force" use of my home network? I used to have this in my BOLD settings under browser options, but from what I read the connection switch is supposed to happen automatically on the Torch browser.
