I am infuriated with my storm 2, wifi works on every other device I have but on my storm it is connected with good signal but does not transmit data?? What is wrong?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently got an iPhone from a friend that has a very strange fault. It can show a very strong signal (5 bars) but will intermittently not make or receive calls and texts. For example just with the phone sat here on my desk one min it will make outgoing calls and the next it just sits at "calling" with no ring tone for about 45 secs before moving to "Call Failed". Incoming calls sometimes work and sometimes go straight to answer phone. Outgoing texts sometimes fail to send and sometimes work.Just for a bit of background this is an unlocked 8GB iPhone 2G on firmware 3.1.3. I've tried both Orange and Tesco (O2) sims and both have the same problem. The Wi-Fi and everything else work perfectly and the phone itself is in good physical condition. I have tested the sims in an 16GB iPhone 2G with identical firmware and that works fine.
So any ideas what it might be? I've kind of discounted the sims and the firmware which only really leaves a hardware problem. Could it be a problem with the aerial or would that show a weak signal strength? Is it relatively easy to replace and would you recommend it?
My phone signal is week even in a strong service area. I keep getting SOS signal.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a BlackBerry Storm 2 9550 3G CDMA WiFi OS v5.0.0.1015 Bundle 1656. This phone was with Verizon previously and I have no present carrier. I want to take this phone to Europe to work WiFi and possibly a European Sim Card. I worked with Verizon and the phone is unlocked. I took it to Verizon, and they, as I had done, connected to a WiFi network (ID above clock in white), data and roaming turned off, and received a "success" on setting up. I noticed the "WiFi" symbol is a dull white, as opposed to the network name which is bright white. I go to the browser and it allows me to put in a URL, but when I try to go there, "Internet is not available, check with provider". The browser is set to Hotspot. I have removed the battery to no avail, and have done a security wipe, but the results are the same.Is there a setting I am missing, or something else basic I have overlooked?

I am stationed in Afghanistan and purchased this unlocked version. I am using a Local carrier (Roshan). Everything works great once I sorted a couple of minor issues except I cannot get the wifi to come up. I can connect to wireless routers and says "connected". But the wifi is still grayed out and I am unable to use it (wifi) for anything or register the phone. I would like to be in a situation where the wifi will work independent of the sim card installed.
With my Curve 9300 I can connect to a wifi router through wifi options but when I try to open a webpage it does not work, not even my google talk works. I have also installed Opera but no luck.
Phone does not display a four square symbols which confirms that wifi is connected and activated.
While checking the Wifi option it says it is connected and profile selected.
I have a new home router. my I phone is picking up the wifi signal. But my password for my router does not work. I've tried keying the home phone number and they the airport sign comes up but I have NO connection.
It's a 2WIRE AT&T router for a DSL line. Do I need to set up something under DHCP or BootP or Static settings?
I no longer have the 3G network and I can get WiFi at all other WiFi spots except when a 2WIRE DSL box (router) is being used.

The Facebook app says "Network Error"- Messages wont send and I cannot download IOS 7.1.2 because it says "Software Update Unavailable" I have tried restart and resetting my phone. I have also tried resetting my network setting. And I have tried more than one Wifi connection. Nothing is working.

Yesterday morning, a little after 7:15a, my iPhone 5 stopped receiving internet information. The connection had ceased. There was still a strong LTE and Wifi signal, but no connectivity. I turned off and on the calling/LTE and wifi setting, as well as powered down the phone, but still no connectivity. Phone appears to be getting the signal, but will not connect. Call and text messages work, but no internet connection and zero apps working.

I did remove the WIFI info and forget it, then reconnect... that doesn't work. The only thing that fixes it, is if I restart my phone.

When I enable Mobile Hotspot or share the connection through USB, the other devices connect just fine, but no data is received at all.
* Tested with both a laptop and another phone
* To rule out carrier restrictions, I put the SIM in a Nexus4 and enabled Wifi tethering, then connected to it with the S5, works np, just not the other way around.
I had an M8 and switched over to the M9 due to my camera sensor constantly buzzing not able to focus. The Wi-Fi range on my M9 isn't as strong as the M8. I was able to get on the internet and used internet-based apps with my previous phone while in bed but I can't with the new one.
View 8 Replies View Relatedi have a problem with my galaxy S5 ATT. so im using Netgear wireless n-150 router WNR 1000,its updated,but the problem was before the update and after the update it is the same. i'm using yahoo,gmail and comcast emails.i was able to setup yahoo email without any problems,i can send and receive emails from my phone when connected to wifi and without wifi. but i wasnt able to add to that stock email app my gmail account and comcast while i was connected to my wifi.it gave me error that it wasnt able to connect to the server to verify information.
So I tried to set it up on the mobile network and there was no problem. so now when i connected to wifi in my house i cant receive emails or send them using gmail and comcast email,yahoo account is working fine. i checked all the settings,i reset the router,still nothing.the funny part is if i download gmail app it is working without any problems.and if i connect to any other wireless router,all 3 emails work. also when i connect to my wifi, I'm getting internet and i'm able to open pages without any problems. So it should be some settings in the router probably ...
What do these Icons represent or mean, and the meaning when they change Colors from White to Blue (Status Icons). I am connected to wifi and up till about 3 days ago everything was working fine, now it shows I am connected, but I can only get on internet for about 5 mins, I have to shut off all my connections then reconnect them for it to work again.

We have WiFi and the phone indicate that they are connected to the WiFi when we are in the house. However, my bill from Bell indicates several instances where the phones (all 4 at different times) are connected to the 3G network for 24+ hours at a time. Additionally, it shows the phone connected twice during that time period (as though there were 2 different sessions at exactly the same time, but with differing amount of data connected)
The explaination that Bell gives me is that there are 'minimized' applications still working on 3G even though the phone says it is on WiFi, and that each of these opens its own 'connection'My understanding of cell technology is that the phone can only access one method of Internet connectivity at a time, and that it can be explained as a 'pipe' or 'straw' carrying connectivity and all of the data. I have never heard of a phone that can access two different types at the same time, nor one that uses separate 'sessions' at the same time of either type of connectivity.
I would assume that I turn on my phone in the morning and I am in my house, it indicates WiFi, so I can browse the web, collect my email and update my Facebook on that 'session' that lasts 4 hours until I leave the house. Now my 3G kicks in and the email that I still have open now collects through the opened 3G session, as well as the page I left open downloading something.When I get to work and enter my WiFi area there, the session would then collect my email through WiFi again, and my download as well.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a bb curve 8520 on orange, im from the uk and have virgin broadband. i have a dlink wirles router. i can connect to it no problem and get the wifi emblem in white and black showing its connected, i also have my routers name come up so its definatly connected. i have litteraly no signal in my house, either 1 bar or sos, sometimes i will get uma signal, sometimes not, my gf has the same contract and phone as i do, both are orange branded phones and she gets uma signal almost instantly as she steps into the house. why do i not get uma, are my settigns not configured properly? as i really cant send or recieve calls and messages.

Since then I replaced my battery and the phone came on with the clock and then the screen showed up. and could not do anything. Then the screen went black. Now when I try to recharge it only a green light appears and nothing else. Did I kill my battery and is the phone no longer good or it's just my screen and i can replace it.
