I got an email about an update for BB Maps so in following the directions I mis read them and deleted to BBMaps. Now I can't find a link anywhere to get it back? How do I reinstall BB Maps?THE BITTERNESS OF POOR QUALITY, LINGERS LONG AFTER THE CHEAPNESS OF PRICE, IS SOON FORGOTTEN.
View 2 RepliesFor as long as I can remember, Maps would crash on me whenever I'd go to Settings|Navigation. I read somewhere that reinstalling the application might fix this, so I uninstalled Maps - which apparently did not really uninstall it but only reverted it to version 2.0 - and then used Nokia Maps Updater to update it back to 3.0.
Of course, this being Nokia, nothing works as it should do, and so NMU tells me that everything's ok: "There are no new updates for your phone!". Every once in a while when I try NMU again, it does find an update, called Map Data Version 0.1.23.112, a very small download that does nothing to update Maps to 3.0.
I knew that one way of "resetting" Maps is to delete the "Cities" folder and the "QF" file. I did that and tried NMU again - still no update available. The next thing I did was a phone reset - no joy.
I thought I'd "reset" it a bit more if I go to Nokia Maps Loader and I manually delete all the stored maps. I did that, and NML had this to say: "Connection to the storage medium has been interrupted. Attach your storage medium and retry.", even though I was using the same sturdy USB cable connection I've always used with no hassles. After several retries, it probably deleted all the stored maps data, although this apparently did not help.
I then tried running the update file suggested in this post - that didn't do anything by way of allowing Maps to be updated by NMU either.
I then accustomed myself to the idea of having to go back to using Maps 2.0, but - unsurprisingly - this doesn't work either: whenever I open Maps, I receive the message "Cannot open application, install latest version from nokia.com/maps". Of course, if you go to that address you are told to use Nokia Maps Updater, and so we come full circle. Thank you, Nokia, for the quality time that we have to spend trying to compensate the lack of quality in your software.
After upgraded Maps 3.03 to 3.04, i noticed that navigation was acting strange thing.It could navigate successfully just only couple of time and then "Waiting for GPS" appears all later usage.So i decided to reinstall just only to find the haunting "Waiting for GPS" in navigation mode.i was so desperated that i uninstalled almost every application from E72.Now i'm facing the consequence;i cannot reinstall the Ovi Maps anymore.In the middle of installation, there is "Update error" appears.i checked version from Options -> Support -> About -> v3.03 (Of course)However, in App. Mgr. -> Installed apps. -> i found Ovi Maps successfully installed in E:But still lacking in phone (The Nokia Maps)That means it was partially installed. Assumption:i remember that i removed something similar to "Symbian OS pipe"Could this be the cause of the pain?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have firmware ver 31.0.101 and I had OVI maps with navigation which worked for a couple of time then the GPS would not lock on even when I was outside with no obstructions and a friends 5800 locked on with no problem, yesterday I hard reset the phone and the GPS worked fine but I had to reinstall OVI maps and we are back to the GPS not locking on.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a BB Storm 9500 & as other users might know the application memory on this device is shockingly low!!! I recently upgraded my BBM witch was a mistake as my phone was running OK until I did this & is now running out about 5 mins after battery pulls. Every time I use my browser it freezes up & that goes for other apps as well. I want to reinstall a smaller version of BBM as I don't need all these fancy upgrades they have just added all I need from BBM is basic IM or RIM could combine the App memory with the media memory so us Storm users can have a decent experience for a change. I keep all my media on my memory card (as I'm sure most people do) so I have 1GB of possible memory that I can use.

A Blackberry Maps application has been installed on my device (version 4.6.1), but the icon to start it up is missing. I have seen some posts regarding that problem but none of the proposed solutions seem to work, including reinstallation of the application (upon trying I get a message that Blackberry Maps is not compatible with the software I have installed). I have recently updated OS to 4.6.1.231 (platform 4.2.0.108) so my soft is definitely up-to date. I am clueless as to what to do now.

I've checked all the folders and I didn't accidentally move it. I've tried reinstalling it, but it still won't show up. I've rebooted the phone with QuickPull and nothing has changed.I'm also having the issue that some of the apps I emailed to my hotmail account won't click thru to the AppWorld either.Basically AppWorld is messed up, but reboots and reinstalls haven't worked.

I had a problem with the GPS function of Google maps and read somewhere that I needed to re-install BB Maps to get it to work.I have removed BB Maps from my phone (and Google maps) and have tried to re-install BB Maps from the website (and from the email method). The install claims to be successful but BB Maps is not installed, when I check the applications from the options menu I can see that an application called "ibs_ribbon" has been installed but no sign of BB Maps?

I recently got a Storm 2 9550. Verizon is service provider. BB Maps was working OK when I got it.

For some reason it is listed in my apps when I go to settings, but the icon is no where to be found so I can't ever open it! I use poynt a lot and it uses bb maps to map out my travel, but I can't just open bb maps to do my own route with an address. What is the deal? How can I get the bb maps icon to appear on my "home screen"? It isn't in any of my other folders either

I called Verizon Tech Support and they just ended up giving me a brand new Storm 2 for free! All I had to do was re-sign my contract for another two years. Gonna miss my Storm 1 but the Storm 2 is sweet! Just got it today. Anyone wanting to upgrade, try using that excuse.

After this update when I open the Maps and select Settings and Navigation (to change i.e. voice), Maps closes automatically without any error messages. I can open all the other settings sub-menus. Any ideas why this is happening? Do I have the to re-install the application, maps and voices?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using Nokia Maps 3.03 on my E71 (language: German) plus Nokia Map Loader 3.0, but I am experiencing several problems: Nokia Maps goes online via Internet for a few seconds (which costs me) although I set it to my Wireless connection. How can I switch that off? Every time I load a new map (and voices) via Map Loader and then start the software on my E71, it tells me that the maps are out-dated and I need to delete them. But then I do not see any maps in the software, and also the load of the voice is gone.

I have a problem with my Maps Application. Firstly I only have 9 icons on the Maps display page instead of the 10 that is shown on the Nokia website, I have found I do not have the Michelin guides........any ideas why?
I cannot download the Here and Now 2.0, it states that the Installation failed and have tried many times to reinstall it. Does this have anything to do with the missing Michelin Guide icon not being there?
I updated today to Maps 3.01. (To be noted that Ovi Suite still considers there is a new version of Maps available and would download and install 3.01 again any times I click on update.) When starting Maps the load screen with progress bar appears, then I can see an "empty" map. No keys work. Upon completion of the update, when i checked maps that are available in my device,Instead of new updated maps, there is only 1 map left which is Hong Kong and Macau, and i don't live in either one of it. 1. I don't see any satellite (photo) maps when selecting the satellite mode in the display options; instead, the map is just filled with a pattern of alternating dark green and light green linear areas. How do I enable real satellite data, as shown in the attached picture?
2. The update speed of the map when navigating on foot or by car seems very slow. Is there some way to increase / improve this?
3. The phone doesn't seem to recognize really well if I hold it vertically or horizontally. Can I improve that behavior, or switch between manually?
I have owned a Curve 8310, a Bold 9000, and now a Bold 9700. I have never been able to get Maps to work! I am always showing diagonal lines. I am on O2, I am connected to a BES server, other users on my BES can access Maps but I cannot. I know the GPS works as it locates me but the data downloaded always shows 0.0kb and all I have is them annoying diagonal lines.

About a month ago I bought the Nokia 5800 as I wanted the free Sat Nav, I have version 3.01 on the phone, when I phoned Nokia about something else I asked them about version 3.03 and they told me I could not install this until I had used all the days of my 10 free trial, then I was to ring them again and they would help install it for me, after 55 minutes on the phone we had no joy, so I decided to try myself and did it first time. Now the question I need answered with your help is, I am going to Italy in June and when I open the GPS (offline) it works fine in the UK where I live, and when I input the town Pisa, Italy it finds it on the maps, does this mean that the Sat Nav will work in Italy or is this just a map?
When you download version 3.03 does it download all the maps?Also is there anyway I can find out which maps I have on the phone?
