For as long as I can remember, Maps would crash on me whenever I'd go to Settings|Navigation. I read somewhere that reinstalling the application might fix this, so I uninstalled Maps - which apparently did not really uninstall it but only reverted it to version 2.0 - and then used Nokia Maps Updater to update it back to 3.0.
Of course, this being Nokia, nothing works as it should do, and so NMU tells me that everything's ok: "There are no new updates for your phone!". Every once in a while when I try NMU again, it does find an update, called Map Data Version 0.1.23.112, a very small download that does nothing to update Maps to 3.0.
I knew that one way of "resetting" Maps is to delete the "Cities" folder and the "QF" file. I did that and tried NMU again - still no update available. The next thing I did was a phone reset - no joy.
I thought I'd "reset" it a bit more if I go to Nokia Maps Loader and I manually delete all the stored maps. I did that, and NML had this to say: "Connection to the storage medium has been interrupted. Attach your storage medium and retry.", even though I was using the same sturdy USB cable connection I've always used with no hassles. After several retries, it probably deleted all the stored maps data, although this apparently did not help.
I then tried running the update file suggested in this post - that didn't do anything by way of allowing Maps to be updated by NMU either.
I then accustomed myself to the idea of having to go back to using Maps 2.0, but - unsurprisingly - this doesn't work either: whenever I open Maps, I receive the message "Cannot open application, install latest version from nokia.com/maps". Of course, if you go to that address you are told to use Nokia Maps Updater, and so we come full circle. Thank you, Nokia, for the quality time that we have to spend trying to compensate the lack of quality in your software.
After upgraded Maps 3.03 to 3.04, i noticed that navigation was acting strange thing. It could navigate successfully just only couple of time and then "Waiting for GPS" appears all later usage. So i decided to reinstall just only to find the haunting "Waiting for GPS" in navigation mode.i was so desperated that i uninstalled almost every application from E72.Now i'm facing the consequence;i cannot reinstall the Ovi Maps anymore. In the middle of installation, there is "Update error" appears.i checked version from Options -> Support -> About -> v3.03 (Of course)However, in App. Mgr. -> Installed apps. -> i found Ovi Maps successfully installed in E:But still lacking in phone (The Nokia Maps)That means it was partially installed. Success in drive E: but failed in Phone's memory.Test and trial1. Uninstall the sw. Do the hard reset (*#7370#) and reinstall it again. (Failed)2. Uninstall. Remove a microSD card (drive E and try to install the sw. (Failed) Assumption:i remember that i removed something similar to "Symbian OS pipe"Could this be the cause of the pain?
I have firmware ver 31.0.101 and I had OVI maps with navigation which worked for a couple of time then the GPS would not lock on even when I was outside with no obstructions and a friends 5800 locked on with no problem, yesterday I hard reset the phone and the GPS worked fine but I had to reinstall OVI maps and we are back to the GPS not locking on.
MY Maps do not load, online or offline. It shows me the map screen but it stays blank with a random position that i don't know of. I have tried deleting cities and qf but i dont know how to reinstall the whole maps
How to reinstall the maps in C-007. I brought one month and I did factory setting, now I can't find the Maps Icon on the list, I tried to download through ovimaps its says launch but I can't launch the maps. The maps in my Nokia X6 16gb are gone after i ran an update in which it says will delete the old maps and voices to replace newer ones. Upon completion of the update, when i checked maps that are available in my device,Instead of new updated maps, there is only 1 map left which is Hong Kong and Macau, and i don't live in either one of it. Tried downloading the maps through the Ovi Suite, always got the message "The connection to the Ovi Maps server timed out"
I've bought a new 5800 Xpress music recently and have three questions with Ovi maps: 1. I don't see any satellite (photo) maps when selecting the satellite mode in the display options; instead, the map is just filled with a pattern of alternating dark green and light green linear areas. How do I enable real satellite data, as shown in the attached picture? 2. The update speed of the map when navigating on foot or by car seems very slow. Is there some way to increase / improve this? 3. The phone doesn't seem to recognize really well if I hold it vertically or horizontally. Can I improve that behavior, or switch between manually?
As I was updating my N900 to the newest firmware, my computer crashed (not because of the install, I was running other hardware intencive programs.) and I'm 100% sure it wasn't finished installing the firmware when it had crashed.
But when my computer crashed the phone seemed to running normally and when it was finished installing it worked fine. Is it possible that it didn't finish?Either way just to be on the safe side, how do I reinstall the update to be 100%?
I have a small problem that a lot of users seem to have with BB 8900. A Blackberry Maps application has been installed on my device (version 4.6.1), but the icon to start it up is missing. I have seen some posts regarding that problem but none of the proposed solutions seem to work, including reinstallation of the application (upon trying I get a message that Blackberry Maps is not compatible with the software I have installed). I have recently updated OS to 4.6.1.231 (platform 4.2.0.108) so my soft is definitely up-to date. I am clueless as to what to do now.
first, will maps work in 2700 classic at all ? second, will it work offline without using gprs ? third, can i update my maps s/w since .sis file dont work in 2700 ?
I have a problem with my E52. It came with loaded with Ovi map 3.03 and was working perfectly well. A few weeks back it started showing an available update of ver.3.04 (both on the phone and Ovi suite. But regardless of whatever I tried, it failed - coming up with error messages like " update error" and "unknown error" etc. But all along the maps were working perfectly well. I was happy to just leave it there, but my cousin suggested to install the previous version of the map i.e ver. 3.01 and then try to update to 3.04. This ver. 3.01 installed without any problem, but I am still not able to update to latest version and to make things worse, I am stuck with a version which has to paid for. I have in fact bought a month's subscription to make the maps work as I am now stuck with out it. Have anyone else faced this problem or something similar? How do I totally get rid of the map software installed and installed the latest one fresh?
Is it possible? I downloaded Ovi Suite, and ran it to install the maps onto my system. The Nokia Maps (v2 from the About Page) works fine, but I want to update to v3.xx. Is this possible? Ovi Suite doesn't seem to want to install v3 (nor can I find the download file to it). The firmware I am running is 12.043 (the latest, over-the-air that is available for my phone)
I recently updated my maps using Ovi Maps upadater. Now I get my location in latitude & longitude, but only a white screen - no maps. When installing I get this message, "This version of maps is not compatible with old map data stored on your device. Delete old map data?" If you don't delete old map data it won't install, and if you do you get the blank screen.

Nokia 5230 V12.0.089.I have the latest maps installed on Drive "E", after deleting the old ones, and have used them, but when I connect to Maploader I get the following message:
"You have connected at least one phone (USB Drive) without a valid Maps drive. Either you are using an old Maps version - then you must update your Maps application or reconnect your phone in Mass Storage mode - or you have never started your Maps application - then you have to start the Maps application once and restart the Map Loader."I have a valid maps drive and the maps have been used.Having updated the maps, how do I update my "Maps application"
I have a Nokia N97 with Map Version 0.1.24.114 installed (clicking About in Maps also shows v3.03 so I am not sure which one is the one i should refer to). I get a text notification from Nokia saying I have a map update so I check software update and indeed version 3.04(165) is there but I cannot update> Please advise. My navigation and turn-by-turn guidance (as well as weather, lonely planet and events) all work but I want to have the latest maps version for accuracy.

So once they come up with a proper JB method for us so we can update, how is the process done to reinstall all the fixes/app that I have? I have most through cydia but some through rock.
In a call with Michael Halbherr, Nokia's VP of Social Location, we were told that the new Ovi Maps would arrive on the flagship N97 very shortly. It's currently a "software logistics issue" related to the maturity of the N97 device. N900 owners shouldn't hold their breath, though, as Nokia is focusing on bringing its free navigation service to the next generation of Maemo devices. That's not to say that the N900 won't get it eventually, only that it's not currently on the roadmap.
So will there be no OVI-Maps-Update be available for maemo5 ?
I have just reinstalled the firmware on my N95 ( via Ovi Suite, product code 0534851 - V. 35.0.002 ). Next, i wanted to update my Maps platform, because this firmware still has the classic Nokia Maps 2.0, and the Ovi Map Loader says i need to update to Ovi Maps 3.0 in order to download the maps. So, I installed the Nokia Maps Updater 1.0.12 (the latest, i suppose. i've just downloaded from the nokia website), I exited the Ovi Suite, started the Maps Updater, and i get this error: "Cannot get enough information about the phone [3].Unspecified error [1]." Tried it on a friend's E51 and same error.
