I am trying to set up my ringtones. I set up my custom ringtones and I pressed the "try it" button after each ringtone and it worked, However, when I get a text, e-mail or an alert from Facebook, twitter, etc. I don't hear the ringtone; instead I heard the standard little beep.
View 7 RepliesI have custom ringtones for several of my contacts, but when I receive text messages from these same contacts, there are only a small handful of them that the custom ringtone/alert works for, most of them just notify me using my default sms ringtone, does anyone know why this is? and does anyone know how or if it can be corrected?
View 5 Replies View RelatedFrom yesterday onwards suddenly my BB has stopped playing some of the ring tones and is also not playing video files. when I try to play any ringtone manually , an error appears which says Error Playing with a message "An error has occurred attempting to play media"
I've also noticed that while taking pictures I'm not able to zoom through my trackpad and am unable to take a zoomed or a closeup picture
What error can possibly happen to my BB device and how can I fix it?
I just got my BB lastnight I am just wondering can I have different ringers for different people and also a different ringer for my messages? I can not find out where to go to set it all up.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got my first Blackberry, the Curve8350, and everything for the first week went great. Then, I updated the software.Like many people here I was frustrated with the lock feature being changed/removed/unnecessary, and not being able to use the left key to lock it (I don't want the hassles of entering a password, I've already found that "solution" to the problem). Also, the green aol mail icon that represented my email changed to just the normal default icon. This may seem minor, but I am very particular with my phone and was beyond displeased that things had changed.
Anyway - I downgraded, hoping that everything would be back to normal. Being a new user, I wasn't smart enough to back up my phone, blah-blah-blah, I took it up to Verizon, had them add my contacts from a previous phone, then set out to re-customize the phone AGAIN.
I am now running v5.0.0.337. Wordmole, Sudoku, and a few other games that came with the phone have vanished. I set a downloaded ringtone as my default tone - I did this for all profiles - but all entries in my contacts list still say "Ringer_ClassicPhone" - the OLD default. I have set custom ringers for a few people, and have no problems with anything. However, if anyone else that just has the supposed "default" tone calls, it's the classicphone ringer - NOT the tone I have selected. I am not going to go through 100+ contacts and manually change them to the tone and volume that should ALREADY be set!
When i go into the Media file, go to ringtones and select my ringtones, it wont show the tones that are on my memory card. It did until i set up desktop manager and then i dont know what i did but they dont show. I know they are there because i did a hard reset and pulled the battery, also removed the media card, when it scanned i saw it show all the ringtones then watched em all come off. how can i fix this to be able to view them?

When I am listing to music mp3 files on shuffles every now and again I will get the mp3's that are associated with ringtones and text messages and alarms which are also mp3 and they are "talking tones", so imagine I am listening to Beyonce and the next song to play is "you have an incoming call!" - so any way to stop or hide them talking mp3 ringtones from when I just want to listen to mp3 music files?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got my first BlackBerry a couple of months ago, the Tour 9630 with Verizon, which I've loved to far, except. Last week I created a couple of ring tones from two mp3 files and downloaded them in my BlackBerry without setting up with any feature, but they set themselves up as regular ring tones and I cannot stop them from playing now!
Since the day after I downloaded them, every time I've received a new e-mail, I've gotten my regular ring tone (GungHo) and then custom ring tone #1 starts playing and is unstoppable unless I completely turn off the BlackBerry! So I deleted it from the My Ring Tones folder, but that hasn't changed a thing. I've tried to change my regular e-mail ring tone and the change got implemented, so I get the new ring tone I've just set, but I still get custom ring tone # 1 right after! And it is almost 1 minute long!
Other weird thing, custom ring tone # 2 has started playing every time I hang up my phone! Who needs that?! I haven't deleted that one yet from the My Ring Tones folder because I'm not sure if that'll help, but this is extremely frustrating.
This is my second blackberry curve 8530 and they both have the same problem, they won't play videos. They use to but now when I go to like you tube, or nothingtoxic.com, or even my video recordings it won't play it says an error has occurred media attempt failed. I use to restart my BB and that would help for a lil while now it doesn't work at all. How do I fix this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded the new OS when I plugged my phone to the computer... it sounded like a good idea to upgrade everything but I do not like how the UNlock function is only through the mute button now. I mean, if I wanted to just lock/unlock my phone that way with the push of only one button, I could use the standby (mute) button and press on it again to unlock it before. I really liked the previous version where you had to take the extra step of pushing two buttons (A and Send) to unlock it. Because I unlock my phone by accident a lot when it's in my purse and I reach for something and accidentally press the top button (mute button). Any ideas if Blackberry is planning on a new OS version soon that would restore the old locking/unlocking system? I do not necessarily want to downgrade to a previous OS version but I might have to as the "easy" one-button only unlocking option is not working for me.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI updated my phone the other day with the v5.0.0.734 OS. It wiped out everything. I had to go back and restore my contacts, reload ringtones and apps, etc. Got everything back the way it was now.
I have three email accounts synced to it. All are active, Wi-fi on, network on. New mail isn't showing up on my handset, only from my gmail account, the hotmails aren't showing up. Used to be you could look in the folder for each email account and see what emails were there, then there was one folder that showed all of them. What am I missing?

I'm gettin sick n tired of this trackball on the 8330, I recently had to fix it cause it would only go up... so onto a new Blackberry! Can anyone give me some input about the 8530? I hear the camera has no flash , is that true? How is that supposed to be an upgrade!? Anything else I should know that's different between the two, aside from the obvious?

So why is it lacking some normal basic features such as a flash on the camera or high quality mega-pixel camera as the other upgraded phones have? I am honestly curious as this is my first blackberry but I missed why these features were not included in the newer type model.

I have a plastic case on it, so everytime I go to press the Mute buton, I have to take the case off. Now my fiance has the same exact phone, and when he wants to unlock, the message says to press the A key with the send/call key.

All of the people in his address book have "classic ringer" as their custom ring tone along with the volume set about midway like its some kind of default setting. I have tried changing the profiles/ringtones and creating new ones (with different tones) this does not change the ringer for those 80+ people. In the Set Contact Alert menu there are only 3 people with a custom tone showing.The Classic Ring is not loud enough for him to hear and no matter how I try to change the default ringer it does not change the ring for the contact list.I've done a battery pull, no change.Updated it to newest OS.Contact list was imported from a Storm 2(he likes having actual buttons to push).
Am I missing something or 1) shouldn't all those people show up in the Set Contact Alert Menu, if there is a custom tone set up or 2) shouldn't their default change if I change the default for the phone.I haven't checked all of them, but did check at least 10 and regardless of what I do they're still the same. Ringer shows Classic all other options say active profile.Is there any way I can change their default ringer without having to give each one a custom ring--too time consuming?
I had a 8330 (for 2 months) that would reboot itself constantly. Does not do it anymore 'cause I returned it for a 8530. The 8530 that I've had since Jan 01 is better, it only does it now and then when it is tethered to my pc.. Rendering it just about useless for my business activities. US Cellular is at a loss. Should I accept this defect as part of the BB experience?

But when i check my email for yahoo on my laptop, it still shows up on my BB and doesnt delete unless I personally delete it. Is there an option that when i check my email from my laptop that it will delete on my BB??

The only apps that I have opened that possibly check the internet are facebook & my weather network app. I have the weather app set to check every hour. So how could it drop so fast? I also have wifi turned on but does that kill it that quickly?

I haven't noticed a pattern as to when it does this, and it doesn't seem to be a regular interval. I'll have it sitting next to me on the table, and suddenly it lights up, shuts down, and starts back up, and carries on as if nothing happened.
