Apr 7, 2010I have a 8520 T-Mobile and everytime I get a new email and or text it rads it automatically. I want it to stop .How do i do it ?It is disturbing i managed to turn off the text but the mail keeps on doing it .

Aug 26, 2010I set a text message to custom sound now when i change all my text message sounds the custom one wont change to new sound i have to manually change it. Is there a default sound for text messages for the curve 8530 so i could change it back to default sound then when i change text sounds all contacts will change and i wont have to change some maually

Jun 29, 2010I have custom ringtones for several of my contacts, but when I receive text messages from these same contacts, there are only a small handful of them that the custom ringtone/alert works for, most of them just notify me using my default sms ringtone, does anyone know why this is? and does anyone know how or if it can be corrected?

Mar 29, 2010I just got my first Blackberry, the Curve8350, and everything for the first week went great. Then, I updated the software.Like many people here I was frustrated with the lock feature being changed/removed/unnecessary, and not being able to use the left key to lock it (I don't want the hassles of entering a password, I've already found that "solution" to the problem). Also, the green aol mail icon that represented my email changed to just the normal default icon. This may seem minor, but I am very particular with my phone and was beyond displeased that things had changed.
Anyway - I downgraded, hoping that everything would be back to normal. Being a new user, I wasn't smart enough to back up my phone, blah-blah-blah, I took it up to Verizon, had them add my contacts from a previous phone, then set out to re-customize the phone AGAIN.
I am now running v5.0.0.337. Wordmole, Sudoku, and a few other games that came with the phone have vanished. I set a downloaded ringtone as my default tone - I did this for all profiles - but all entries in my contacts list still say "Ringer_ClassicPhone" - the OLD default. I have set custom ringers for a few people, and have no problems with anything. However, if anyone else that just has the supposed "default" tone calls, it's the classicphone ringer - NOT the tone I have selected. I am not going to go through 100+ contacts and manually change them to the tone and volume that should ALREADY be set!
BB Curve 8520 - 8530 :: Wont Show Ringtones From Media Card
May 7, 2010When i go into the Media file, go to ringtones and select my ringtones, it wont show the tones that are on my memory card. It did until i set up desktop manager and then i dont know what i did but they dont show. I know they are there because i did a hard reset and pulled the battery, also removed the media card, when it scanned i saw it show all the ringtones then watched em all come off. how can i fix this to be able to view them?

Jul 24, 2010Is there any way to turn off the suggested text box that pops up when im texting on the Curve 8530? This is annoying. This is not the autotext feature that changes preset words like dont to don't. Its the box that pops up for instance when you type yay.

Aug 26, 2010So when I go to search for a certain text within an SMS conversation, it says its "not found", but when I scroll for a really long time to find the text, its there? Does the Find feature in SMS convos not search throughout the whole conversation?
Also, when I use the global search option on the home screen to find text, it also finds it but when I select it, it brings me to the end of the conversation, not where the message was found.

May 27, 2010I just got a Blackberry Curve 8530, and many of my friends have said that when i send them an SMS they get it two or three times. I'm not sure why this is happening, when I only send the text once. Can anyone explain why they get the same text multiple times and how to fix it?

Aug 11, 2010I have an ATT 8520 Curve unlocked to work with a tmobile sim card and have a few questions...Now that's unlocked I cant setup an external email account (hotmail, gmail, etc...) that icon is missing from the setup section. how can I get that feature? can I also use the bbm feature? I added a friend (and vice-versa) but it just stays as pending. is it possible to bbm? for the above 2 do i need to get the bb data plan so they can work? I've read elsewhere that the best way to get the features would be to load the tmobile handheld software. I went to tmobiles site, I enter my ph# - select the 8520 - click on handheld and it takes me to their 'shop for phones' page. I guess they now by the number that i dont currently have a bb. So I tried a friends ph# from tmobile who has a bb and it still took me to the 'shop for phones' page. So I Am hoping it's just a link glitch going on right now. I did download from this forum the 5.0 OS "8520wifiM_PBr5.0.0_rel860_PL5.2.0.47_A5.0.0.509_W ind_Hellas.exe" which obviously is not tmobile. What would loading this different OS allow me to do? Or what features will I have available? and I have lowercase 'edge'.

We now have official word from RIM via press release today that unless you have a 9650, 9700, or Pearl3G you have to buy a new phone to get OS 6:"Subject to carrier certifications in the months ahead, the new OS is expected to be available for the BlackBerry® Bold™ 9700, BlackBerry® Bold™ 9650 and BlackBerry® Pearl™ 3G, as well as future BlackBerry smartphones."
That being said, are you going to be dumping your 8520/30 for something new just to get OS6?

Jul 5, 2010got a 8520 a couple of months ago, and after two weeks the phone speaker would break up when making a call, so you could only hear 1 in 3 words someone was saying, and inbetween was silence.T-mobile sent me a new one out next day, but now after 4 months the new one has started doing it.Can make calls fine with ear piece, speakerphone is working for playing music, haven't tried it for calls, and handset speaker works fine for music too, but breaks up when phoning anyoneThe second time it happened was just after okaying an upgrade. Anyone heard of this before?

Mar 27, 2010I got the Curve 8530 on Verizon... I receive a text message from a person, go to the sms icon on my home screen and click on it. My bb shows the new message with the persons's name and a preview of the text. I click on it to view it but it doesnt open the conversation. Then I'll try an older conversation and it works fine. But what is strange is that it will only continue to happen to that one contact. So ill receive a new text from someone else and i can read it with no problems.

Apr 19, 2010My 8520 was working fine last night but the battery was down to 10% charge.
Charged the battery up and phone worked fine and I turned it off before going to bed.
The phone turned on fine this morning and was showing a full charge. I did turn it off when I got to work and when I went to turn it back on when I went to lunch I got nothing. The LED glows briefly and faintly when I try to power the phone on.
I tried hooking to my car charger but with the same results.

I just got my new Curve 8520 from O2 (UK) and the software version is 4.6.1.314.. this seems to be really old?
Should I try an OTA update or should I force one using the links I can probably find on here?
I'm having a few issues with gmail not notifying me and a few other things, and I figure they have upgraded software for a reason!
