I realized that after upgrading to WP 8.1 on my Lumia 1520, the play time for sms ringtone was shortened. My customized ringtone would start cutting halfway through around 4 to 5 sec and that bothers me. Right now I have an 8-second ringtone set for my texts but obviously it doesn't play the whole thing. Is there something I could do in settings that could fix this problem ?

I can't see any settings on the handset and from what I can gather it looks like it to do with the carrier, in this case Virgin Mobile? ... I also found this info... I previously installed Buzz me from the app store on my phone, and despite having uninstalled buzzme and removing it from 'my world' in the app world, the only ringtone my phone will use is the lame 3 beep tone that came with Buzz me. View 3 Replies View RelatedBefore I take this phone back to the store I want to find out if this maybe the way that RIM is actually making this phone now.When I get a new email or text etc., the led light flashes red like all the blackberries do but it only goes for a short time then stops. It starts again when there is more emails but again stops.
I looked in the settings and cant find what I would adjust for this. Either the phone is defective or this is the way the phone is.Any help would be appreciated as I will need to take it back within the next day or two.
Is there any way to change the calender view from daily with only a week at a time to view an entire month?

It does not update minute by minute as a 'normal' timepiece would. If I go into the settings for alarm or date/time then exit the clock is updated. but it will not update again until I do this again.This morning when I woke up for work it was showing 10.50pm last night.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI've had my Pearl 8120 for about a year or so and for the past 8 months or so it's been unexpectedly crashing, not so much at first, but it has gradually got worse to the point where the phone has become practically unusable, crashing almost every 5-10 mins. The crashing can happen at any time, whilst on a call, texting, emailing, web browsing, menu browsing etc.
Here's what happens:
The screen suddenly goes black, and the red light at the top lights up, then the screen lights up and I get a turning hourglass. This will remain on the screen for anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes, during which I cannot do anything (turn it off, even taking the battery out doesn't fix it, as it returns to doing it when I put the battery back in). When it's done doing this, my home screen appears, giving me a message reading "Verifying Security Software", a loading bar which loads up to 100%. After this, I can use the phone (until it crashes again!), but it doesn't have the memory of the previous call (in other words, it doesn't show up in my recent call list, nor does it remember who the last person I called was in my address book), and I lose whatever txt/email I was typing. I thought it might be a faulty battery so I bought a brand new battery but still the same problem.
This crashing seems to be entirely random and I know I'm not accidentally pressing anything to cause it. There are days where it happens every few hours, but there are some days where its every 5 mins!My phone seems to have moods!
I feel like throwing my phone against a wall and watching as it smashes into a million pieces does that explain how I feel?
I am sure that this issue has been raised before but it is the one aspect of the BB9700 that is driving me to distraction. What profile settings should i use just to get the darn thing to ring for 20 secs - both in and out of its holster? (I have tried the code to extend the time to 30 secs but it does not seem to work with Orange UK).
I just want the phone to ring like a phone without LEDS, vibration etc. At the moment, I need the hearing of a 5 year old and the strength of a 20 year old to get to my phone before it trips over to answerphone.I am on OS593 and I have tried battery pulls etc. I am also using a ringtune rather than Classic Ring.

When typing using the backlight on either Live Messenger, or writing a document on Word or a long message, the device completely freezes and blacks out, with both screens, keypads being unresponsive. I have to take the battery out and put it back in to make it work again.This has only ever happened when I'm typing with the backlight on, and for a prolonged period. Backlight function is pretty much useless right now. Background apps are not the issue, and neither is any other function.The backlight is basically useless right now.

First Orange said there was an option on the answering service - no there isn't. Then they said dial in **61*my mobile number*11*20# then press the call button - no again just an error saying "supplementary service error. Unexpected data value."
I have tried everything I know to find a ring tone which lasts long enough to get the phone out of my pocket with no success - whatever ring tone I select ends in under 3 10 secs and then registers as a missed call. I called O2 and was told to look on the blackberry site - where it seems to indicate that it's down to O2 to adjust this feature.
