Nokia :: 5230 De-installation Of Maps Or Ovi Maps
Mar 2, 2010I recently bought my Nokia 5230 and it came with the programm Nokia Maps (Version 3.03 (246)) installed on "C Telephone memory" using 9MB there.Then Nokia gladly announced "free world voice guided car navigation". In order to get this free car navigation I followed the Nokia instructions on the internetpage and installed Ovi maps (Version 3.03 (246)) which is now in "D Telephone memory" using 7 MB there.(That is the information shown when I look into the details of my installed programms.I then loaded the necessary maps and the voice file with Nokia Map Loader from my computer into my micro SD card (E) . Navigation is working extremely well! But: What is "D Telephone Memory"? According to the filemanager of my phone no D exists! More important: May I safely deinstall the preinstalled Nokia maps now that I have Ovi maps installed? phone is set to german and the designations above are translations into english and may not correspond exactly to the english designations of Nokia phones set to english.

After installation, in my Menu - Maps - I have just 6 icons - My position, Search, Share, Favorites, Car, and Go, but I don't have Weather and others application. I have already tried to reinstall but no chance. It's the same thing. Help please. What I have to do to have all applications Maps.

Jun 9, 2010I got the Nokia e63 in April 2010. One of the things I did first was:
1. Update Ovi Store app on the phone
2. Ran Nokia Maps on the phone (applicaiton already on the phone) or downloaded Ovi Maps from the Ovi Store - cant remember.
3. Regardless of how I did (2) I managed to install country maps for specific areas (US New York, UK etc) by using Ovi PC Suite
So all ok so far. Now I started putting more applications and games on the phone but it kept getting slower and slower - to a point it would not render the screen properly or mix two screens into one. I have a 2 gig memory card in it with only less than 20% in use - the phone memory had over 80Meg free. So really could not understand why it performed so badly. Anyway I spent several hours resetting the phoning and doing all the above again - but OVi Maps does not install any more (I get Installation Failed message).
To add more headache - the internet was very slow and I had to attempt several times to update Ovi Store after each reset - finally gave up and had to use a WLAN connection. When I go to the Ovi Store web site on my pc and find Ovi Maps - there is now a message saying its not available for e63. Yet that was not what I recall because I have installed Ovi Maps on the phone before and installed the additional country maps on several occassions (the last one being as recent as May 2010 - last month) All of a sudden Ovi Maps is not compatible with the Nokia E63? The Ovi Store app on the phone gives no indication of compatibilty issue with the phone - so you can keep downloading it and using up your internet allowance and it keeps failing to install without giving any useful message.

Jun 30, 2010Missing from the list is the problem where we install 3.04 from the automatic update, start it, and after 2 seconds Maps suddenly exits and returns to the home screen.I am using a C5 in the USA, and according to the box the phone is an asia version.

Jan 12, 2012I have nokia 700 i have a different problem with nokia maps, by mistake i uninstalled the nokia maps and now when im trying to install again OTA, it says something went wrong and closes from ovi store. i tried opening the same in OVI suite and it says that the files / folders are broken. i tried to format the mass storage and also did a hard reset, but nothing seems to work.

Jan 4, 2010So I installed an Invisible Shield on my 8900 yesterday and I turned it on a few minutes ago to find that the trackball isn't working well anymore.The phone works fine, it didn't have any water damage.
However to be able to use the trackball I have to press down while spinning it.Also it feels kinda smooth, like it offers no resistance when spinning.Any solutions? What can I do? If i take in to T-Mobile can they give me a new trackball? (Phone was purchased March 08.)

Having said this: Today I wanted to install another browser (Opera for BB), since I don't have (and need) a BIS/BES account I installed the program through the Desktop Manager (6.1). It worked ok, but the installation seemed to be hanging. The DM was waiting for the divice to reboot I guess? My phone at that point wasn't doing anything. Only a red LED was blinking?
Now, I did something stupid may be. The DM and my phone were already for quite some time in this state. But I HAD TO leave, so I disconnected. In the assumption that my phone could be turned on...I pressed the button to get it on...nothing (of course), removing the battery and putting it back....nothing. Only the red LED light blinking four times in intervals.
After some searching on different forums, I understand that my phone cannot reboot, probably because the OS is now messed up.I've tried to install an update. When connecting my phone to the computer by USB cable, both the Device Manager and the Desktop Manager recognize my phone. The DM detects a connection problem and offers to update the software of my phone. My hapiness (this might actually work!!) was diminished when the installationprocess was canceled, because (SURPRISE!) it couldn't connect to my phone to install the update properly.
Update: I also tried this: www.blackberryvsiphone.com/blackberry-troubleshooting/how-to-restore-a-dead-blackberry . But no luck there, It didn't produce a working BB.
Update2: Tried it second time, left the phone for a whole night...nothing! I'm seriously considering throwing the BB out of the window...
More constructively: what to do? Turn to BB website and the support forum for help. I really don't know where to begin..

As e have investigated in the forums and come to the conclusion q is installed and everything is fine but there are some things that I can not do. Once I connect to the wifi icon that comes next is yellow with a black stripe in green asiq ved if not working, if so when I navigate to the browser and try connecting to me no x x orange wifi, and not to do! q me the instructions and nothing comes down. Nor is it like installing any program, I'm not sure if you have the blackberry desktop and do well for tp is worth having it just that there are q ... In the forums and the instructions say that when you connect the black to the computer you sync with the administrator q No q I have no idea why that is when I connect directly how to open if a hard drive and put my things there. Nor leave me no installation cd as usual come (ie second hand).
