RIM sent me an e-mail today inviting me to upgrade my Sprint Curve 8330 to Device Software 5.0. In the past, this wasn't available on Sprint devices. My computer is a Mac, so I connected to Blackberry Desktop Manager and it said that there are no upgrades available. Am I able to upgrade my device software?
View 7 RepliesI had a Curve 8330 and had a problem with it sync-ing to my computer. Verizon sent me a new phone and it works fine. The only problem is that all of my old emails/texts are on the old device and I need them in my new device.Is there any way to download/sync the new device so that I get access to my old messages? Even if I could download/sync directly from hotmail.I would love to have my old BBMs too but that is definitely secondary.

I was playing around with it and liked the view and some of the features that the new software has available (mainly the new clock that has 'bedside' options for use as an alarm clock and the look of the icons.). Does anyone know if the 8530 software can be run on the 8330 without issues?

Also, when I try to upload 5.0OS from my mobile or through the internet and the desktop software I keep getting a message saying there are no uploads available. Is 5.0 NOT supported for the Curve 8330 despite website claims??? What's the deal? Again, why can't I upload 5.0 (or even 4.7) for smartphone which is only running 4.5?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've had my 8330 Curve with Verizon since November 2008. Very happy with it. I also happen to still be using OS 4.3.0.127 (202), which is what the unit came loaded with. I never bothered upgrading because I would always hear of people having issues or DM only backing up your contacts and not your apps, lower music volume, etc. I don't really need Docs To Go, but HTML e-mail would be nice and the biggest thing is trying to improve these BBM delays I constantly get when trying to send a message. I'm thinking an upgrade to the latest BBM might help change that.
Of course, in order to do that, I need to upgrade to 4.5. So I've decided to do it, but not before I ask for feedback here. I've scanned dozens of other threads here, all with varying opinions. It's been long enough. Is it wise to do this and, if so, what is the latest OS for VZW (is it .138)? What risks am I really running here? Need a reality check on this.
My data port on my 3 month old 8330 died and Sprint gave me a new one today. The contacts were transferred at the store - but after I restored from my DM backup done one week ago - none of my other settings were restored. What did I do wrong or what have I missed? Sprint rep told me the backup restore would get my new 8330 back to being just like the old one - but it's not.I want to get my email settings, apps, ring tones, wallpapers etc, back. I don't want to have to create everything over again when I have a good backup.

I have two Blackberry 8330's here. One is a 8330 and the other is a 8330m. The 8330m receives MMS pictures embedded and the 8330 receives an SMS with a link to look at the picture online.I know this isn't new but I haven't been able to find any solution to this if there even is one.
One thing I found is that somewhere it was said that the two phones receive different types of Service books depending on the model.Now, maybe this is a stupid question but I am asking it anyways .Can I somehow copy the MMS service book from the 8330m and put in on my older 8330 ? If it's possible, will this fix the MMS as an SMS link problem ?
I cannot upgrade my phone to v5 software. Everytime, i try to use the application loader it tells me that I already have the most current software, my phone is running v5.5.0.175.

Abnormal reset detected during update. Press any key to return to pre-update configuration
I have tried everything, pulling the battery, the sim card, the memory card but its still on the loop. I found a similar post from 2010 below which is the same problem but no resolution was made.[URL]...
I've being trying to update my device software but it's impossible, not even downloading the archive from the web.
Everytime I plug in my phone and open the blackberry manager to do whaterver it gives me the message that I haven't installed the Blackberry Device Manager . I updated my desktop manager to version 5.0, and I tried to update my device software and it says that I don't have any updates, after that I have deleted the files device.xml and vendor.xml but again when I plugged in my phone it comes the message that the Blackberry Device Manager is not installed. I've uninstalled the desktop manager and it let me use once but again no update for my phone software and then again the same message that i haven't installed the Blackberry Device Manager
My carrier company here in Ecuador wont help me cause I bought the phone in the USA, but anyways I have friends that have the same problem as and they have bought in Ecuador to Movistar (my carrier) the same phone and the update to 5.0 doesn't work.
I have the error 507 in my device BB 8320. I have run the Java Loader to uninstall the OS because I had problems with my carrier. Now I tried to update the soft from the new DTM (6.0) but this one does not give me the option "Update device". What can I do? I am located in the Philippines and my Service provider is Globe Telecom. My problem is I am unable to update my Device to 5.0. I tried first using the desktop software and I am getting a message That my device has the latest software. View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm a BB newbie but recently received one for work. My problem is trying to transfer the contacts from my old cell phone (Sanyo SCP-7050) to my new Curve 8330. I took it to my local Sprint store and they said the contacts can't be transferred because the BB is registered on a BES. The Bluetooth connection won't work either, I assume for the same reason.Am I out of luck or is there some other way I can get the contacts into my BB? I have the contacts stored as individual business card files (.vcf) and was hoping there is a way to use the micro SD card to load them on somehow.

I used the BlackBerry Desktop Software and clicked the "Update my device" button in updating my BlackBerry Curve device software version. The process was started last Monday, November 15, 2010 but until now is not yet finish (Thursday, November 18, 2010). Is this normal?
