I've had my 8520 for quite a while now and only just started trying to use BBM although people don't recieve my requests and I don;t receive theres. I have internet, both WiFi and pay monthly. So I was wondering if I have to set it up somehow?
View 3 RepliesOkay, so my brother got the new BlackBerry Storm and gave me his old BlackBerry Curve 8520 and I can't get the BlackBerry Messenger to work. I can't add contacts on it, and when people try to add me I don't get a notification. My web browser also doesn't work, even though I'm connected to a wireless internet.
Off topic, but how do I send stuff from my computer to my BB, by bluetooth, or is there a wire?
I am also not able to check in on facebook places. This is a work phone and my colleague who has exactly the same Curve 8520 IS able to check in on facebook places with no problem at all. I do not believe that this is a "GPS" issue. I paired my husbands Torch 9800 to my curve via bluetooth and it now allows me to set location setting to the ON position but still am not able to check in.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have read some of the other posts related to this issue and I seem to be running into a wall. I just bought a "new" unlocked curve from amazon. I get it and the track pad doesn't scroll. I can still use it to click on an icon but I just can move it. I work in Afghanistan and I can't mail stuff outta the base i work at. Oh and i put "new" in quotes for the fact that when i started it up I got a Tmobile message.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy wife has a curve 8520. when she tries to use the browser to sign in to yahoo email she fills in her userid and password but the sign in button dosn't work, nothing happens when she clicks it does she have to enable something in the browser configuration? she doesn't have a Blackberry data plan as yet so we realise she can't use BBM or facebook app etc but I would have thought the browser should work as she has an internet plan.

My Blackberry messenger either didn't work or sent & received messages hours after they were actually sent.The internet was painfully slow if it loaded at all.
If I tried to make calls it would rarely work either taking forever to connect or when it did try to connect, I would hear a triple beep repeatedly as though there was a problem.When people tried to call me, they would go straight to my voicemail even though I was not on a call and had full signal.
My network provider immediately agreed to replace the handset and get me a new one out the next day and today I received the new handset. I've come home, tried to make a few calls on the handset before setting it up and all I am getting is an SOS symbol where the signal symbol should be and I am not able to make calls or do anything else.
I tried to restore the backed up file from my last handset and although it restored my numbers & text messages as well as my background image & alarms, it has not restored my programmes that I had installed and it has not restored my email and facebook settings. Am I doing something wrong or do I have another faulty handset?

I cannot connect to any servers and error code (65), whatever it means, pops up every time I try to log into Windows Live Messenger. I have re-sent registration messages, as instructed by the troubleshooting manual, which have been successful each time.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm not onto my second BB8520 and this on T-mobile UK contract. Everything is fab, however, BB Messenger constantly displays 1 new message icon...There definitely isn't. Tried hard reset 4 times with no luck. Been like this for 4 days and it really irritating plus with the red notification light flashing all the time it can't be doing my battery much good either!
Is anyone else having the same problem? And how can I solve this? I really don't want to have to either wipe my phone or remove BBM!
I have recently brought a blackberry Curve 8520, one of the main reasons I brought it was because of bbm most of my friends have it and have requested me to add them, only when I click onto their pending request it does not have an accept button - but all my friends said it should. I have rebooted my phone a lot and I have reinstalled bbm at least twice. How I can sort this out?

Regardless of whether I add someone else's pin or they try adding mine, the contact is always under pending. Also if I try sending a message to a pin on BBM it does not send, I just get the red cross. So yeah basically I can't add or recieve requests for contacts and I can't send messages either.

I can see the wifi networks when i use the setup wizard, but after it trie to connect, i get this " - " symbol against my wifi ( in the wifi options). The wifi SSID is recognized and i face this same issue across all the wifi networks i tried to connect. I am currently using the T-mobile prepaid card. I cannot browse the internet and i feel really bad that blackberry has this wonderful device which cannot perform a basic function like wifi connectivity easily.

I have a curve 8520 and i'm trying to connect it to my computer using an usb cable. But everytime i connect it nothing happens but my phone charges. I've tried re-installing desktop manager several times and i've changed the options in the 'memory' menu but nothing works. I know there is some connection between my phone and my computer because it charges, but no message pops up (I've read somewhere that a message should pop up about mass storage).
