Apr 12, 2010I just downloaded OS 5.0.0.509 Wind Hellas and cant find a download link for the BB app world while my old one says install successfull but nothing happens.

BB Curve 8520/8530 :: AppWorld - How Do I Start It?
Jul 22, 2010I just got me a BlackBerry Curve 8520 and installed the latest version - 822 that leaked but still no show. My problem is that I can't find the AppWorld - I mean can't find it anywhere in the menu. And the Application list says I have it installed. Anyone has any idea?! Look all over the menu but somehow can't see from where to start it up.

Aug 1, 2010I own a BB for only 3 days now. I was wondering if the device was normally sold with Appworld already install? It was not on mine. I wanted to download it today, here the process:
1- Go to BB.com, send the link on my email...err: I don't have internet explorer 5 or higher on my device (can't download it for the same reason!)
2- Go to BB.com to download it on my desktop....err, I use firefox (mac),
3- open VMWare Fusion, run Internet explorer 5, crash.
4- install internet explorer 7...crash
5- Look in the application loader in the desktop manager, I can uninstall/install Appworld on my device! Do it. I still can't see in in my applications.

When I hit next after selecting english, I see: Error: Invalid manifest or application descriptor. The "MIDlet-Name" attribute is missing. I previously had appworld installed on the device. Aug 6, 2010I downloaded a theme OTA and I can't find it anywhere. It said it was for the 8520 OS 4.6, my phone said it was downloaded successfully but it's missing. It shows up on my applications list but not with my themes. I've checked every folder and nook and cranny. I've even restarted my phone. I wouldn't say I'm a BB pro or anything, but I'm fairly experienced so I've tried the obvious things.

Jun 16, 2010I just had my phone for over a month and I am having problems sending email. I have contacted sprint via telephone, but they have only caused additional aggravation. Someone from sprint performed a hard reset and could not tell me how to restore my contacts. My fiancé helped me restored my contacts. I can get email, select reply but there is no send option available to send email. It worked a few days ago, but it is not working now. I can send email from my contacts, but not reply to an email I already received. Even when I try to download a document it says, “More request cannot be completed. Service book information not found”. I even tried the service book option I learned on crackberry along with turning it off and on, removing the battery, and deleting my email accounts and adding them again.

Jun 15, 2010my wifes 8530 we just did the BB App World upgrade. Now we can't see or find the icon to open and use it. After being on the phone with Verizon for a while they contacted BB and this is what I was told to do.
-Download BB desktop manager on my computer
-Backup all data from the phone
-Do a hard reset which will delete all data from the phone
-Reinstall all data from desktop manager back to phone and then the icon should appear

May 31, 2012I bought my BB Curve 9360 second hand and, despite making sure I was on a BB supported contract with Orange, have never been able to successfully download apps from appworld. I press 'download' and up comes the Agree/ Disagree box, which disappears after I select 'Agree'. And then - nothing. It has returned to the previous screen detailing information about the app and when I check my downloads, there it isn't. I have experienced a similar thing when I go on the payment methods option - I select 'Agree' and the screen doesn't change. I've been on several other forums but can't find any which have the same problem.I don't understand whether it's my BB or Orange or what?!

Feb 16, 2010My husband got a curve 8530 the other day. All of the people in his address book have "classic ringer" as their custom ring tone along with the volume set about midway like its some kind of default setting. I have tried changing the profiles/ringtones and creating new ones (with different tones) this does not change the ringer for those 80+ people. In the Set Contact Alert menu there are only 3 people with a custom tone showing.The Classic Ring is not loud enough for him to hear and no matter how I try to change the default ringer it does not change the ring for the contact list.I've done a battery pull, no change.Updated it to newest OS.Contact list was imported from a Storm 2(he likes having actual buttons to push).
Am I missing something or 1) shouldn't all those people show up in the Set Contact Alert Menu, if there is a custom tone set up or 2) shouldn't their default change if I change the default for the phone.I haven't checked all of them, but did check at least 10 and regardless of what I do they're still the same. Ringer shows Classic all other options say active profile.Is there any way I can change their default ringer without having to give each one a custom ring--too time consuming?

Feb 4, 2010I had a 8330 (for 2 months) that would reboot itself constantly. Does not do it anymore 'cause I returned it for a 8530. The 8530 that I've had since Jan 01 is better, it only does it now and then when it is tethered to my pc.. Rendering it just about useless for my business activities. US Cellular is at a loss. Should I accept this defect as part of the BB experience?

Jul 16, 2010I just downloaded the new OS when I plugged my phone to the computer... it sounded like a good idea to upgrade everything but I do not like how the UNlock function is only through the mute button now. I mean, if I wanted to just lock/unlock my phone that way with the push of only one button, I could use the standby (mute) button and press on it again to unlock it before. I really liked the previous version where you had to take the extra step of pushing two buttons (A and Send) to unlock it. Because I unlock my phone by accident a lot when it's in my purse and I reach for something and accidentally press the top button (mute button). Any ideas if Blackberry is planning on a new OS version soon that would restore the old locking/unlocking system? I do not necessarily want to downgrade to a previous OS version but I might have to as the "easy" one-button only unlocking option is not working for me.
