I've gotten texts from several different people over the past couple days and I can open all of them but one...my friend is texting me from a Verizon phone and she is the only one from Verizon who's texts I can't open. Is there something wrong with my phone/sms? Or is my USCellular BB just boycotting Verizon?
View 10 RepliesI got the Curve 8530 on Verizon... I receive a text message from a person, go to the sms icon on my home screen and click on it. My bb shows the new message with the persons's name and a preview of the text. I click on it to view it but it doesnt open the conversation. Then I'll try an older conversation and it works fine. But what is strange is that it will only continue to happen to that one contact. So ill receive a new text from someone else and i can read it with no problems.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi have the curve 8530 and there is a new gmail thing, where it ask's you if you want to sync your contacts to gmail account. DON'T DO IT. i did it and two things happened:
1.contact name duplicates
2.numbers re-arranged (other people's number's under the wrong people etc.)
what i did was put all my 'un-messed up' contacts in Microsoft outlook and went to the Verizon store, they told me about the gmail problem, and they are sending me a new phone. when i get it i will use desktop manager to put all those contacts from Microsoft outlook and put them on my new phone.i suggest everyone with this problem, do it.
My wife has the 8530 with Verizon. Her contact names have the wrong numbers and vice versa. Some of them have duplicate contacts with different numbers. Verizon has no idea what to do....Any suggestions? Why does this happen??
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got my first Blackberry, the Curve8350, and everything for the first week went great. Then, I updated the software.Like many people here I was frustrated with the lock feature being changed/removed/unnecessary, and not being able to use the left key to lock it (I don't want the hassles of entering a password, I've already found that "solution" to the problem). Also, the green aol mail icon that represented my email changed to just the normal default icon. This may seem minor, but I am very particular with my phone and was beyond displeased that things had changed.
Anyway - I downgraded, hoping that everything would be back to normal. Being a new user, I wasn't smart enough to back up my phone, blah-blah-blah, I took it up to Verizon, had them add my contacts from a previous phone, then set out to re-customize the phone AGAIN.
I am now running v5.0.0.337. Wordmole, Sudoku, and a few other games that came with the phone have vanished. I set a downloaded ringtone as my default tone - I did this for all profiles - but all entries in my contacts list still say "Ringer_ClassicPhone" - the OLD default. I have set custom ringers for a few people, and have no problems with anything. However, if anyone else that just has the supposed "default" tone calls, it's the classicphone ringer - NOT the tone I have selected. I am not going to go through 100+ contacts and manually change them to the tone and volume that should ALREADY be set!
I have two questions:
1) I can't seem to figure out how to set text message tones for each individual contact for my 8520? Is this possible? (I have the T-mobile 8520 Curve if that makes a difference?)
2) How do I update my operating system for my 8520, from the T-mobile network?
Well i noticed when i got a call from my gf the picture came up using her fb profile pic which was always so blurred! So I remember changing it to another picture and selecting it to show up as the caller id picture and to overwrite anything that would change it.
However now , it also changes her bbm picture and it would not change even if she changes it herself now her bbm picture is stuck as well.I forgot where i went to change this overwrite picture setting...
I have had the Curve 8530 for about a week, and I noticed today that the majority of my contact list has disappeared. I started with almost 250 names, now I have about 25. Everything from A-D is gone, and about 75% of everything after that, just random names deleted. Also, when I pull up the contact list, I have to scroll down through a bunch of empty lines before I can see the numbers that are left, like all the deleted contacts are still there, just hidden. But if I search for names that aren't showing up, it doesn't find anything. I've tried a battery pull, and all that happened was the empty spaces in the list disappeared. I really don't want to have to reload my contacts every few days.

I have tried the desktop software about a million times, it keeps saying no updates available. I've tried using the app loader. Nothing. I've tried downloading the specific 5.0 software for AT&T BB Curve 8520. App loader says it is incompatible with the device.
I have tried following this: How to Install or Upgrade to a New RIM BlackBerry Operating System (OS) with AppLoader | CrackBerry.com .Still did not help.
I have also tried doing it OTA style. The damn thing says there's no updates available on this either.I've been reading through just about every OS 5 thread I could get my hands on and nothing has made this process work.
I have a 8530 and I have some pictures that I want to get off my phone. But i ran into a problem. The "picture folder" I was able to delete these pictures out of it. But when i went to "All Pictures" i was unable to delete the pictures in there , it said this is a "Read Only File".

I can save it, but not send it. Forwarding works just fine, though. I have re-registered, and I have re-activated, but the problem still exists.

It messed up my contacts birthdays on the calendar again (just like every update ive downloaded since i got my phone), but besides that I thought everything was fine. But then, After using it for a few days, I've occassionally been unable to hear anything during calls. It works most of the time, but occassionally, when someone calls me and i pick up; it says "Connected", I don't hear anything. Same with vice versa, when I call them, it says "Connected" and I dont hear anything.

It gives me another installing progress bar that reaches half way through then says "Unable to connect to the Internet, check your settings" although I have a BB internet connection that's always on. I tried the remove battery trick but that didn't help.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a theme OTA and I can't find it anywhere. It said it was for the 8520 OS 4.6, my phone said it was downloaded successfully but it's missing. It shows up on my applications list but not with my themes. I've checked every folder and nook and cranny. I've even restarted my phone. I wouldn't say I'm a BB pro or anything, but I'm fairly experienced so I've tried the obvious things.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have bought a new BB Curve 8520. On my desktop I have Windows 7, with Microsoft Outlook 2007. My e-mail is a Windows Live account through Office Live, which I believe is a web-based e-mail account. This means, in order for me to get e-mail in Outlook, I have to use the Microsoft OutlooIk Connector. When I go to sync using Desktop Manager, I first try and install ntellisync through the Wizard and I get a “successfully installed message, but when I click “OK” the error: "Folder is no longer part of system data source or the folder could not be found” appears and I am never able to sync successfully, either through the USB or wirelessly. I have uninstalled and re-installed the Desktop Manager many times. However, I am receiving the e-mails through to my BB. But if I'm unable to sync Calendar, Tasks or Contacts etc. with my Desktop, the BB is not a lot of help or benefit to me.

I have found out that the Attachment Service is no longer installed on my handset & when connected to the Desktop Manager it is not in the application list so there is no option to install it. They use to but now when I go to like you tube, or nothingtoxic.com, or even my video recordings it won't play it says an error has occurred media attempt failed. I use to restart my BB and that would help for a lil while now it doesn't work at all. How do I fix this?

All of the people in his address book have "classic ringer" as their custom ring tone along with the volume set about midway like its some kind of default setting. I have tried changing the profiles/ringtones and creating new ones (with different tones) this does not change the ringer for those 80+ people. In the Set Contact Alert menu there are only 3 people with a custom tone showing.The Classic Ring is not loud enough for him to hear and no matter how I try to change the default ringer it does not change the ring for the contact list.I've done a battery pull, no change.Updated it to newest OS.Contact list was imported from a Storm 2(he likes having actual buttons to push).
Am I missing something or 1) shouldn't all those people show up in the Set Contact Alert Menu, if there is a custom tone set up or 2) shouldn't their default change if I change the default for the phone.I haven't checked all of them, but did check at least 10 and regardless of what I do they're still the same. Ringer shows Classic all other options say active profile.Is there any way I can change their default ringer without having to give each one a custom ring--too time consuming?
I had a 8330 (for 2 months) that would reboot itself constantly. Does not do it anymore 'cause I returned it for a 8530. The 8530 that I've had since Jan 01 is better, it only does it now and then when it is tethered to my pc.. Rendering it just about useless for my business activities. US Cellular is at a loss. Should I accept this defect as part of the BB experience?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded the new OS when I plugged my phone to the computer... it sounded like a good idea to upgrade everything but I do not like how the UNlock function is only through the mute button now. I mean, if I wanted to just lock/unlock my phone that way with the push of only one button, I could use the standby (mute) button and press on it again to unlock it before. I really liked the previous version where you had to take the extra step of pushing two buttons (A and Send) to unlock it. Because I unlock my phone by accident a lot when it's in my purse and I reach for something and accidentally press the top button (mute button). Any ideas if Blackberry is planning on a new OS version soon that would restore the old locking/unlocking system? I do not necessarily want to downgrade to a previous OS version but I might have to as the "easy" one-button only unlocking option is not working for me.
