BB Curve 8350i :: Trackball Quit Working - Got Replacement With Good Deal
Jan 30, 2010
To begin i have a 8350i on boost with the necessary service books i purchased said handset used off of craigslist 7months ago for around 200 hundred bucks worked great a little beat up from use but im a mechanic so it didnt matter, well yesterday the trackball quit working on me no movement and it felt really wierd, tried cleaning it with compressed air no luck, i went to the sprint store where i pay my bill it just happens to be a repair center they told me they couldnt work on it because it was on boost but that they could provide with a new one for only 100 dlls i jumped on it,, tell me what u guys think was it too much or was it a good deal?
I took my Tour to my local Sprint store (Corp.). They swapped my trackball with a white one after notifying CSR about its inability to scroll down; I was not informed about the trackball being swapped out for a white one, and the disassemble of my phone for this to be performed. Now, I have an aesthetically changed phone, including a small crack/ dent on the ear piece (did not notice till halfway home), this is assuming they did a sloppy job opening up my phone. Is there any chance I can get a full refurb. replacement? I am still under manufacturer's warranty. I addressed my frustration with chat CSR - unless its another manufacturer defect, they won't replace the phone.
As there are many online places to buy replacement trackballs for the BB Tour, I was wondering if anyone here has a place in particular they'll recommend to buy from? I just got a Tour (used one) and the trackball is just BAD! I noticed the shop.crackberry store has some yet under the supported models the tour isnt listed.
I have a new 8350i and downloaded the new 5.0.0.807 (?) version software. For some reason, after doing this, the ability of my Plantronics Voyager 815 headset to perform remote controls (answer, hang up, volume, etc) has quit working. Has anyone else had this happen to them?
My trackball and keypad are frozen if there is no SIM in the device. However, they start working when I put a SIM into my 8900. I run os 822 and don't have any problems otherwise. Though this isn't a show stopper, I was wondering as to why this happens.
My track ball won't wrok on my 9300 does it need replacing or would a factory reset maybe cure it??? If so Is there anyway I can reset my phone without having to us the track ball?
I have a BlackBerry 8900, which has been working perfectly for almost two years now. About a week ago, my trackball stopped working and my keyboard went haywire! I took the phone in and the Trackball as well as the Dome switch were replaced. When I got it back, it worked perfectly... until I put the Sim card in, and it's back to square one! If I put some pressure on the sim card, it works. When I remove the sim, it works perfectly again.
I have a bb curve 8330 and the trackball is not working properly, it will not allow me to scroll down only up and side to side I cannot answer emails or turn my alarm off
so here's my problem. i went over to a friends house today for a barbecue, and when i got there i sent a text so i know everything was working fine. a few hours later i get home and notice that the screen on my Curve is black, and i knew something was up because i know it was fully charged before i left the house earlier. hit the buttons and nothing. so i do a battery pull and it reboots fine, then the screen goes black after 30 seconds and then hit the buttons and nothing. when i hook a mini usb cable up to the port, the screen comes back on for the usual 30 seconds, then goes black like the other times. when i connected it via the cable and the screen lit up, i noticed that the trackball scrolls fine left and right, but pushing the trackball does nothing.the phone is about a year and a half old, through Verizon. i have no problem with getting a new phone, but i don't want to loose the 150 or so contacts i have on the phone. i don't have Google Sync installed on the phone, and i'm guessing that it's too late to back anything up now on my end. when i connect it to my PC, i can access the usually Media folders and Slacker, but nothing else. if i take it into a local VZW store, would they be able to back up my address book the exact way it is now, since the phone powers on and the USB port works fine?i'm going to remove the shell tonight and see if i notice anything.
I upgraded my Verizon Curve 8330 to a Tour and now my trackball is acting up. I'm thinking of changing the trackballs since I never had a problem with the Curve. Are they all the same size or has anyone had problems trying this. I'm not worried about taking it apart or the warranty, but would like to see if this was successful for anyone else first.
I'm using BB Curve 8320.My keyboard keys and trackball do not light up. Not at night, not ever. When I go to screen/keyboard options the only type of light I can edit or adjust is the screen backlight.I've read about how to cover the sensor near the led but I don't even see the sensor. And what would that matter since its already dark and its not working? To note, I just got this BB from my mom a few days ago and the keyboard light hasn't worked since I've had it and I haven't asked her about it. Although, there was one time randomly during the day the keys lit up and the trackball, so I know the light works...
i have a blackberry 9300 and my trackball has stopped working does anyone know what to do as we got it from tesco on an o2 contract but i cant find the receipt so trying to fix it myself.
I have a Curve 8900 which I love but recently the trackball has stopped working. I can't get to my email, bbm, text, browser, etc needless to say it's extremely frustrating, I have cleaned the trackball with alcohol and it seemed to work in the beginning but it doesn't work now. Is there a way to use the keyboard to get to the icons such as email without using the trackball.
My Track pad isn't working even after replacement?I have my BB for a over a year. A month back the trackpad started giving me problems (for e.g. freezing, not scrolling to the right or left side) than suddenly after few days my Keypad also konked off and magically my trackpad started working absolutely fine.. I went to the shop where i purchased my BB from and got my KeyPad replaced but as soon as i got back home my Trackpad started giving me problems... I went back to the shop again and got my Trackpad replaced... Still the problem Presits however my keypad is working fine.
I fell in love with my 8310 when I first got it about 2 years ago. It has everything I could need. I am not a internet person but it has the memo pad for my fireman stuff, the right size buttons for texting since I have pretty large hands, and I liked the applications I had. Well my phone has taken the falls and the other day it fell face first into a rain puddle. I grabbed it up fast. The cell has dried and it still works except for the trackball and the menu button. Basically the 2 most important buttons. I took it to the store and the phones strip was still white and never turned red. They told me I am do for a upgrade. I love the 8310, its been great to me. So the question: is there a fix of the keypad I can just get off ebay or the other options were 2 cells I found. Not wanting to do the whole data plan deal and not all stoked about a 3g. The guy was trying to press the torch on me and I told him no thanks.
The cells that interest me are. 1) The 8520. I like this one cause it seems like its not far from what I had maybe a few new bells and whistles. I see it has wifi. 2) HTC Tilt 2
I'm using BB Curve 8320. My keyboard keys and trackball do not light up. Not at night, not ever. Its frustrating typing this out at night and same with texts.
Im having an issue with my curve 8330 with verizon. I just upgraded my phone to the 5.0hybrid os and everything works fine except opera mini. I can no longer use the trackball to click my selection. opera 4.2 seems completely different in os 5.0 compared to 4.5. anyone else come across this and with a fix?
i have an 8350i and so does my friend. MOST of my icons are white and work fine. his are colored and also work fine. how can i get my icons to be colored?
Now that Boost will be legitimately offering a BB, the 8330, is it worth getting rid of the 8350i? I NEVER use DC, and is gaining the 3g speeds worth losing wifi over? Are there any other details I left out that would be a dividing factor?
I purchased a particular app and have used w/o issues for a long time. However, it stopped letting me sign in, when I click on the app, this particular APP flickers and then reverts back to the main screen of the phone. how do contact the APP PERSON INORDER to get it going again?
I finally bought a N8 and receved it yesterday after wanting to get one for a year now. I had always held back as I was hoping they would sort the purple screen issue out. I specifically wanted to buy a phone from a proper Australian dealer as I wanted it to be A tick and have 24months warrenty. First thing I did when I got the phone was charge it, turn it on to the analogue clock screen saver, lock the screen and then press the menu/home key. There it was, half the clock was purple! So I was sure I had the fault I was hoping not to get. I was gutted/disappointed. I really thought it could not happen to me. I have not even put my sim card in, used the phone or removed the protective shipping stickers yet
I do not know how to tell the age/build date of my N8 but when I ordered it last week, the dealer was out of stock and had to get new stock In from Nokia in Brisbane I believe. The box/packing looked the same as what I had seen 12 months ago. The phone did not have Anna on it. I do know that the latest N8 from Hong Kong are shipping in newer packaging that show the pink coloured N8 on the box.
I spoke to the shop today and they said this was the first time they had heard of this purple screen issue and that they have had no one else mention it to them. I could not believe it as this is a world wide spread issue. They rang Nokia in Brisbane and Nokia supposedly knew nothing about the 'faulty purple screen' issue. So they are either denying it and there is this huge cover up or they have honestly never heard of it.
Since the shop said it was news to them, maybe that's a good thing and I got 1 in 100 faulty one or something. I know this shop has sold about 37 on ebay plus more from their online shop and retail shop too, so if what they are saying is right, then all those buyers must be happy. I actually bought it from their online store and not on ebay. It gives me hope that mine may have been a one off, but i doubt it.
So I am trying to work out what to do. I think I have every right to get the phone swapped for a new one. Its definitely faulty but what do I do if they send it to Nokia in Brisbane and they say its fine?
-What I want to know is how have other Australian buyers delt with the faulty screen issue here? Has Nokia Australia officially acknowelged the problem? has anyone made them aware of it? Are there any known online shops in Australia selling good nokia N8's with known good screens? Has anyone had a screen replaced with a good one recently? I believe there is a new one with part number MP40 that fixes the purple tint screen, but i have only hear of people in europe getting this screen.
I specifically want to know information and experiences and opinions from Australian N8 buyers and owners who have bought a N8 with pruple screen fault in Australia.
Yesterday my cell service dropped has it has been doing every once in a while lately except that this time around I had to reboot the my iphone unlocked 3gs (3.1.3) for it to come back. Today it did it again, I rebooted, the service never came back and my wifi went away.
I used to have the wifi problem before so I uninstalled blacksn0w and it came back. How ever, even after several attempts at reinstalling blacksn0w and several reboots in between, my cell service is gone for good.
Any advice? This has never happened to me before, I am ready to unjailbreak and start all over again, but I would rather not.
Also, every time I install blacksn0w now the phone says " Searching..." and my wifi stops working. It is also worth noting that I have not installed anything new at all on my phone lately.
When I turn my phone sideways, the view mode doesn't change. Is there a setting or something that needs to be reset? Is this a physical problem? I did drop my phone last week.
Just got my first Android phone a few months ago; LG G3. Still learning... stumbled onto a web site of things you could use "OK Google" for. One of the sections was about funny things to do with OK Google. One was 'Make me a sandwich'.
So I tried it... "OK Google" I got the response (pulsing mic) and said "Make me a sandwich"; I got a voice response - 'poof, you're a sandwich'.
When I went to show my wife later that day, all that happens is I get a white bar at the top of the screen that displays 'make me a sandwich'.
Now, no matter what I try, "OK Google" will not respond audibly. This is unique to the OK Google functionality. Voice Command, Personal Assistant, Map Quest and other apps provide audible feedback.
