the 'a' button has mysteriously stopped working on my keyboard which is a real hindrance. In case it was a software issue I tried to restore factory settings, but I have to enter the word 'blackberry' to do so, and I obviously can't type that!
View 1 RepliesMy Curve 8520 's e button just stopped working, doesnt work no matter how hard you press. Sometimes will get assign speed dial to e or if i'm texting a capital E but it is completely random. Also at the same time when the screen times out it is unresponsive, the screen wont come up until you press any button many many times, found out that holding any button down will also make the screen reappear after a few seconds, also if you turn it off, the power button wont turn it back on, you have to take the battery out to get it on again, otherwise it works fine.

As off yesterday my iPhone 4 home button stopped working. I could not reset (obviously) because to reset you need to hold home and power which doesn't work if home is broken. I tried turning the phone on and off several times and that had no effect. Out of nowhere it just started working again after a few hours. I upgradedd to 5.1.1 last night. It worked fine for about 24 hours. A few minutes ago it just stopped working again. I plugged it into itunes to backup and restore but it started working again. It worked for 5 minutes or so, then it worked only intermittantly for another 5 minutes and now it's broken again.

That's basically it. I've tried charging it, plugging it into the computer, etc. and nothing has worked. I've heard about putting it into DFU and recovery modes but I can't do either since the home button stopped working. Is my phone dead or is there anything else I can try?

I tried fixing it myself with the paper solution that I saw on Youtube. this last time I tried fixing it. the button started to work and when I started putting the phone back together. the phone shut off and I cant seem to get it back on. is there any way besides sending it somewhere to get the button fixed to get it to turn back on? or do I need to get it replaced with a new one.

The E5 has a home button and a message button that you can configure. Normally if you press the message button for a short time, it goes to messages. If you press it for a long time, it opens the create message menu. Mine worked yesterday but doesn't do anything anymore.

I accidently dropped my 5530XM, which was in an ipod sock, from about 1 metre high onto my wooden floorboards. I found that the volume button suddenly stopped working. I am referring to the method of tapping the power button on the top left to add and remove the lock.The power button still works to turn the phone on etc, but just wont lock the screen. I have a Blackberry Bold 9700 which was replaced under warranty in January this year. T mobile told me that they could not repair the old one and therefore it was replaced with a new one - the keyboard and lock button has now stopped working on this some of the time meaning it can't be used as I cannot unlock it. Despite the fact that it was only brand new in January as the contract is over 2 years now they say there is no warranty on it but speak to Blackberry can't find any other way of doing this?

Had to turn off then turned back on and nothing was different. Did this a few times as I spend a lot of time on my phone and once I was in an app then I could not get back out so I had to keep turning on and off. After a few hours of this the phone crashed and made me reset on iTunes. Did this and it still doesn't work. Phone is a a couple months old as I used my insurance after the last one went swimming.

When I upgraded to DP 8.1, I developed a couple of problems that I had hoped Denim would resolve. For example, my camera button stopped working. Also, I lost the function to hold my finger on the screen to move the cursor around in text. So I can't edit messages very easily. I was hoping these were issues with the DP version and Denim would resolve the problems. But I loaded the upgrade this morning, and none of these issues are resolved. I still can't use the camera button. And I still get hold my finger on the screen to get a cursor.
