How do I stop my custom ringtones from not working when I turn the phone back on? They still show up as being on the phone in iTunes, but with a broken circle next to their listing.

I get my ringtones from myxer.com and mytinyphone and sites such as that. When I set any of these ringtones i download as my sms alert or phone call ringtone, it just uses the default ringtone. So I checked to see if I saved my ringtone settings. Sure enough I did. So I tried turning my phone off and back on, and my ringtone settings just get reset back to default. When I had my 2 gig microsd in it was doing the same thing, but after a couple days it was using the ringtones I set for it. I just put an 8 gig microsd in and there's no hope.

Then today, I received a text message from one of my contacts and noticed the tone was the from the default profile. I checked the contact setting and the custom ringtone was the same, but whenever messages from the contacts came in, it was using the default profile. Whenever I get calls from the contact, the custom ringtone works, but all of a sudden it just stopped working for messages. Then I realized this situation is the same for ALL contacts that I had a custom ringtone for. I am completely baffled. I've probably done about 100 battery pulls.

How to make custom ringtones in iOS 5.1. I was on iOS 4.3 before and i used to create the AAC version and then change the file extension & that file would come up in the Rimtones in iTunes, After the iOS 5.1 i m unable to add the custom ringtones to my iPhone from iTunes.

I am attempting to create a custom tone, and have succeded in every step except for being able to find it on my phone. I understand it should be under settings/sounds/ringtones... but its not there, nor is there a section entitled custom tones as everyone i have spoken to says there should be?

Is there anything like custom ringtones for different email addresses? Some email accounts I've got set up on my phone (3GS, 3.1.2) get emails that there is no real urgency about; I'll look at the when I have time. Others I'd like to look at as soon as they arrive. A different sound for each account would help with this.

I have got the iphone 5 - 7.1.2 software update and I managed to go as far as making a custom made ringtone that shows in itunes as an m4r.
When I try to sync my phone it doesn't pick up the ringtones tho. I tried unchecking and syncing and then checking and syncing again but its not working.
I also can not choose to manually sync my phone. Whenever I click the button for it it disappears.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAround a week ago I used a friends 'selfie stick'. The same day I was walking around Windsor and noted that the phone had powered down. I tried pressing the power key, but the phone did not turn on. I took the battery out, replaced it and then the phone came back on.
The problem now seems to reoccur when I have put my phone in my back pocket and either walk some distance, or keep it in my back pocket in the car (for some reason).
I remember before the 3gs came out the only way to get custom sms tones is to make it the same name as an original sms tone but they had to be short because you cant stop them no matter what buttons you press.my question today is has anyone found a way to make longer sms tones that can be longer than a couple seconds...i guess im just used to hearing my favorite songs play when i get a text so if there is away please feel free to let me know.

Except for one of my contacts, I can not seem to set either mp3's or aac's as a custom ringtone for a contact. Though I have gone through the process multiple times, only my custom default ringtone plays when I receive a call.
I would appreciate any and all help that will assist me in getting this resolved. To say I am slightly frustrated would be an understatement.
there is a plug-in for custom ringtones per contact! it is in the Extras repository open xterm apt-get install per-contact-ringtones you will notice that it is integrated with the contacts manager.after you open a contact, tap the menu and you will now have an option "custom ring tone"

In the ringtone selection menu, there is a folder called "Music files", but the phone says it is empty, and if I try to access it, it says "Folder contents unavailable for selection". (currently only see wav files) i am sure there will be some updates to make it better, but it is a great start. i have had no issues with it so far, so even the noob should be ok trying it.
