IPhone 5c :: In Recovery Mode Will Not Restore Or Update
Dec 9, 2014
My phone lately has been searching for service constantly, I would say that 80%of my day my phone is searching for service. There was a software update for I think 8.1.2, my phone didn't have enough storage, so I tried to do it through iTunes, when I did that, I got the connect to iTunes screen and couldn't get past it. So now I have put my phone into recovery mode and have run into nothing but issues. One iTunes will not let me update the software, secondly I can't restore it, I get a pop up saying something that my device isn't recognized.
It just gets to the end of the process and comes up with an error "The iPhone cannot be restored. An unknown error occured (1015)" what do i do about this ?
I just recieved my iphone today and was able to use it with a wi-fi connection. Suddenly it turned off and would only operate while plugged into a charger. A tech support specialist from verizon then had me put my iphone into recovery mode, that it will not come out of. i tried to put it into DFU mode, but i get nothing. i tried to restore on Itunes from my PC, but i keep getting an error (21) message. I have also already turned off all firewall and security, but still have no luck.
I plugged my Iphone 3gs into computer to update and it went into recovery mode and now cannot restore which is the next prompted step. Computer and Itunes says they are fully updated as well. Tried restarting computer and Iphone. Still no luck.
When I was going to update my software on my iphone 5s something went wrong and now i'm stucked in something called recovery mode. The screen on my iphone is black and tells me i have to connect my iphone to itunes, and when i did that itunes told me i have to restore my iphone. How do i get out of this recovery mode without restore anything? Â
"iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used in iTunes" It restores the phone to factory settings and after I do the restore I connect my phone back to iTunes to try and restore my phone to the back up I made just before I did the 4.1 update but then iTunes gives me the same error message as above so I have to restore my phone to factory settings again which I've had to do 3 times now. Then it says “The iPhone “iPhone” could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (9)” Then the phone displays the connect to itunes logo again and wants me to do the whole restore to factory settings procedure again.
Yesterday my sister told me she had a problem with her iPhone. She was on 5.1.0 and updated OTA to 5.1.1. When the update was done, her iPhone rebooted and displayed the 'connect to iTunes' screen. She gives it to me, I do what I can and after several restores the only thing that shows up after a restore is the 'connect to iTunes' screen. In iTunes, it says it's in recovery mode and needs restoring....again.
I started to upgrade my ios today. Next time I pulled my phone out it wouldn't respond. After holding the home screen the connect to iTunes image popped up and wouldn't go away. When I got home and connected, I was told to restore. I did so, and after the thirty-minute software update, it was now returned to the connect to iTunes screen and is giving me the same message upon connecting to iTunes.
This morning I connected my iPhone 3GS to my computer and itunes told me it couldn't recognize my phone and needed to restore. This had never happened before but I clicked restore anyways but recieved an error message. After about an hour of trial and error going through Apple's diagnostics I fixed the problem by enabling Itunes in Norton Security, which had just updated recently so I thought that was the issue. Itunes began letting me begin the restore process (without showing an error/failure message) but simply freezes every time halfway through the update. Each time the bar at the top will will up about halfway and then stop forever. If anyone can help me with this issue I would really appreciate it! Obviously I use my phone everyday and it is completely unusable in it's current state.
Earlier this evening I finally decided to update my iPhone to the 5.1.1 software. However after it freezing slightly it appeared to update normally and requested to plug into iTunes. On doing this the "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery" message appeared and asked me to restore. However I have recently been on holidays and hadn't had chance to back them up to my laptop yet and I understand that by restoring you lose all data that isn't backed up.
I recently purchased an iPhone 4s and I set it up via iCloud and it worked later when I arrived home after going with my dad for a party my iPhone would not start it was in recovery mode so I tried putting it in iTunes and starting restoring it then after it was 75% done it rebooted and iTunes says "the iPhone 'iPhone' could not be restored an unknown error occurred (1) so I tried again but still no luck and I also tried putting it in dfu mode but still no luck. I don't think it has been jail broken because I don't know anything about jail breaking .
Last night my iPhone randomly went into recovery mode on me. Just before I went to sleep a bunch of static lines appeared across the screen. The screen went dark and a few seconds later the Apple logo appeared. A few seconds later is disappeared. A few seconds later it came back. So on and so forth. I thought I had turned it off and was going to deal with it in the morning, but when I woke up the iPhone still just had the Apple logo going on and off again.Â
I've tried everything today. All the different button hold methods out there. I've tried to sync it to iTunes but the same **** keeps happening over and over again.Â
A message pops up saying "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes." So I press OK. Then I press the "Restore iPhone..." button on iTunes. It asks me if I'm sure I want to "restore it to the factory settings" and I click "Restore and Update". It then says that its "extracting software", "preparing the iphone to restore", "waiting for the iphone", then "verifying iphone restore with Apple". As this is going on the "connect to iTunes" sign is shown on the screen of the iPhone. When the "waiting for the iPhone" part starts, my screen goes black, then the apple logo pops up. The "verifying iphone restore with apple" comes on the iTunes and the status bar appears underneath the Apple logo on my phone's screen. It sits there for a couple of seconds with no progress and then the screen goes black. Then iTunes has the same **** message saying "The iPhone 'iPhone' could not be resotred. An unknown error occured (9)."Â
I've gone through this process countless times in the past few hours and have done everything that apple support has told me. The windows system is fully updated. So is the iTunes. I've restarted the computer..Â
A couple of notes about the phone:
It's over a year old. It's never had water damage. It was nearing the max capacity of its internal storage. This has never happened before. I keep it in an Otter Box. I had very little problems with the phone. Lately a couple of apps like snapchat and the barstool sports app were taking a little longer to open up or would randomly close out and sometimes my camera would take a while to get going. But this problem is just ridiculous and completely rendered the phone useless.
I was unable to make factory restore or recovery mode. Before i was using gevey sim, incidentally i didnt follow procedure then,my iphone 4 not recognising sim.
I recently downloaded IOS 8 from my developer account, and i got tired of all the crashes so i decided to restore back to IOS 7.1.1 , and so i downloaded the latest IOS 7 IPSW , entered DFU Mode and i held down option on my mac and clicked "Restore" , chose my IPSW, but halfway through iTunes froze. I waited for about 40 minutes but then i needed to go, so i took it out without a choice.
I came back and it was in Recovery mode,i tried the same steps, but it keeps freezing at the exact same moment.
I tried both of my mac's USB ports, two lightning bolt cables, another Windows PC, nothing seems to work.
The strange thing is, when i try to restore it on my Mac it just freezes in the middle, but when i try to restore it on my PC it just gives me an error.
The error is:" The iPhone "iPhone" cannot be restored. An unknown error occurred. Error number 14".
I have everything updated,i tried to restore when it is in recovery mode, after i downloaded the IPSW from iTunes, tried downloading from multiple sources, nothing seems to work.
I've been trying to reset my phone using the recovery mode method, but once i hit restore it asks me whether i want to restore and update or cancel, once i hit restore and update it begins updating until the phone exits recovery mode and cancels the process, how can i restore my phone succesfully without updating or exiting recovery mode?
Now my phone is stuck in recovery mode after an update. I get unknown error 1403 after itunes tries to restore the phone for more than 10 minutes. Any way to fix? The help article for error 1403 just tells me to connect to itunes. Connecting to itunes tells me to restore, when I hit the restore button, it updates for a loooooong time then says "unable to restore, unknown error (1403).
So basically i was on iOS 7.0.0 and when my phone was below 10% and i tried to charge it, it would keep turning on and off every 2 minutes. Somebody had told me to update to the latest version of iOS, so I did. While downloading the new version onto my phone an error code popped up (error 29) and the update bar was only half full. Ever since then my phone has been stuck in Recovery Mode.
I tried to update my iPhone software (after successfully backing up to iCloud, and then successfully updating iTunes software) but got a 1604 error message. The phone is stuck in recovery mode, and all attempts to restore the phone have resulted in failure. I keep getting the same error message. Basically, the phone never gets past "preparing to restore." I am linking my iPhone 4 to a PC Windows XP Professional, with up-to-date software. This is the third time I've tried (and failed) to update the iPhone software, though the other two times I was able to restore. This time nothing seems to be working.
I launch the 8.1.2 updating process in OTA mode today and my iPhone 6 get stuck in recovery mode after the restart (iTunes icon with the cable on the screen).Â
So I try to restore from iTunes but I've got a unknown "error 56" at 75% of internal firmware upgrading process. The updating seems stuck, I've wait several minutes with no change. As soon as I unplug the cable my iPhone get back to recovery mode (iTunes icon with the cable on the screen).I've try several times, with another cable, with the old 8.1.1 firmware image (using Alt key when selecting the restore button). I try to launch the restore from my iMac and from my MacBook Pro (both with latest Yosemite and iTunes versions) but my iPhone is still stuck in recovery mode.Â
Bring it back to an Apple Store? Unfortunatly I'm living overseas and I've bought this iPhone 6 a few weeks ago when traveling. I'll be in Melbourne in a few weeks but I would like to use my iPhone again before. Â
So I was doing the Andriod 5.0 Lollipop update, and I thought it froze, so I rebooted my phone, it started the update again, and then went into a screen with the phone on it with a red triangle which I now learned is recovery mode, I have tried everything, I factory reset (erased all user data) And everything like that, and it still comes back to this screen, can I get off of it?
