Recently updated my iPhone 4 to ios 7.1.2. Currently my worst problem: instead of going into sleep mode, the phone turns off completely. I then cannot turn the phone back on with the sleep/wake button. To turn the phone back on, I need to do a hard reboot each time by holding down the home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously. I have tried going into settings/general/reset and selecting "reset all".
It just suddenley stopped working? The button works, its not stuck. But the iphone wont sleep or wake? I mean its not a huge deal, I do not really take screenshots but how will I restart my phone? Can I never let it turn off now?
I have big problem with my iPhone 2G. My power/sleep button is not working so only way I can turn it on is to plug it to computer or charge it, but today it won't start or do anything.
The button will not respond, no matter how long/short I hold it down. It's like it's not "popping" back up, or gives anyresponse. I upgraded it to IOS5 last week, had no problems, until yesterday when it for no reason wouldn't act the way it should..
My iphone 4 will not turn on. When I plug in to Macbook, phone does not appear in iTunes.I have tried holding down sleep wake button and home button for 10 sec but nothing happens.
Ever since I installed the iOS 5.1 update on my iPhone 4, the home button does not work at all! I've tried every trouble shooting solution I could find. I've Restarted, I can't hard reset because the home button doesn't work, I've restored from back up, I've restored as new, I've vacuumed out and gently used a tooth brush in the port below the home button in attempt to remove any dust. I've tried opening a factory installed app such as Maps, Safari, Stocks etc and held the top button until the "Slide to power off" showed and then held down the home button until it went to home screen except it didn't go to the home screen at all the "slide to power off" disappeared after a while. I have extremely intermittent response with the Home Button. If i press it continuously it will work after 27 presses one time or 9 presses another but never when I try to do a hard reset and 9.999 times out of 10 it doesn't work.
If I run my finger over my sleep wake button it makes a clicky type noise. I've seen this in other devices that use metal, just wanted to know if I was alone on this one!?
Not complaining, just wanting to see if this is normal. Thanks in advance!
A couple of months ago I was using my iPhone in my room normally. I locked it and put it on my bedside table, when I went back to it I found that my sleep button was very hard to press. I figured it might be temporary and have waited until now. It is now completely unresponsive and I can no longer press it at all. Both of the water damage indicators are white from what I can see and the actual device has very minimal damage from regular use.
I went to the genius bar and they sais they can't fix it.But they said I could pay $150 to get it replaced.Does this mean they will give me any iPhone I want or it must be the current type I have which is 3GS.
Does anyone else have this "problem"? The power button feels loose and when you shake the phone you can hear it rattling. Is there any way it could be fixed? To make it more firm?
Ok, so this is probably the worst combination of things to occur. If you don't care about reading the story I'm looking for a way to put my phone into DFU mode without the sleep/wake button. If there is a way to do this please let me know - if you want to know why I need to do this, read below... Thanks.
Last week my sleep wake button mysteriously stopped working. For a time it would work with every 5th or 6th press, but now it doesn't work at all. So for the past week I've had to forgo the use of the sleep/wake button, which means that when I'm done using my phone I had to put it into my pocket and hope I didn't hit anything until it shut itself off.
It's been manageable, but I have dreaded the day that my iPhone froze or anything, because I have effectively no way to restart the the device. Turns out that day was this evening - it froze while I was in Gmail, and I was unable to do anything. Home button was non-responsive - basically the whole OS locked up. Now obviously if I had a working sleep/wake button I could have probably held down both that and the home screen and forced the iPhone to restart - clearly I don't have that option in this case...
Worse yet, I decided to try to fix my sleep/wake button, so I took my phone apart. I wasn't able to really figure out what was going on with the sleep/wake button, and while I had the case cracked open it died. Once I got everything plugged in again, the phone turned back on, and sat at the Apple logo screen for a long time, after which it superimposed a spinning wheel over top of the logo. Truth be told, I don't think that disconnecting the screen had anything to do with the spinning wheel, I think it's a result of the OS completely locking up (the likes of which I've never seen the iPhone do before... so something in the OS must have become corrupted... at least that's my theory anyway).
It has been/continues to be stuck in this loop. I'm not sure whether letting the device die and naturally resetting itself will do the trick. I'm leaning towards the idea that it probably won't help the situation. I have not yet tried to do a restore, because I'm worried that it won't work, and then I'll lose my backup as well.
So yah... does anyone know how to force the iPhone into DFU mode without the sleep/wake button?
Is anyone's sleep/wake button a little loose/wiggley? Same with the volume buttons. When I'm handling the phone I can hear it moving, it sounds and feels cheap I just want to know if everyone's is like this?
I am using a bumper as of yesterday, maybe I'm just now noticing it.
Got my iPhone 4 yesterday. Noticing something odd about the sleep/wake button. It wiggles very slightly to the left <-> right. I feels slightly loose. It isn't really bothering me, I just want to make sure the button is not like going to fall off lol
The movement is soo slight, but it also causes a very faint click sound if I rotate my iPhone. Edit: Well apparently the noise if the autofocus in the camera. But the original issue remains to be explained.
Everything else on my phone works just fine! Reception is great, screen is beautiful! Everything works! (Except this slightly loose sleep/wake button)
I dropped my iphone 4 today on concrete today, face down surprisingly though, the screen is still in perfect condition. HOWEVER, the sleep/wake button is no longer responding. What should I do?
My iPhone 4's sleep/lock button is stuck in. (From wear and tear) It's out of warrantee so apple won't fix it, a genius did tell me to replace the button, so i ordered the parts from I-fixit and followed their guide. (http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing-iPhone-4-Power-Lock-Button/4332/1) After reassembly the new button is still stuck in! What am i missing here? is there a part that needs to be fixed other than the actual button?
I am having issue atm with sleep button it just get stuck without any reason I was just holding the phone in my hands and running didn't drop it or anything.
So my lock or sleep button requires a large pressure to work. But now it wont even response to that. The button is now stuck in there so now I can't lock my iPhone 4 or do anything related to that button. Should I go to a Genius? Oh by the way my warranty expired
My camera & sleep button were both working fine one day & the next day the lens on the camera won't open & my sleep/lock button won't work. Can anyone shed any light on
