since I updated to 2.1 any long press on home screen or corner icons goes directly to edit either widgets or icons depending wich screen I have up. This is anoying because many times I press just a little too long and for example end up in the edit icons mode instead of opening messages like I wanted to.
Is there anyway to get this as it was on 1.6? Long press didnt open edit, the only way to open edit was trough menu key.

I initially thought it was better after changing the long press from short to long but it really doesn't seem to have any direct affect on the random ones that are occuring.

Jul 2, 2011Given that the Droid Pro has a physical keyboard, I'd like to be able to type out long emails. However, it seems that Droid thinks I hold the buttons to long and launches the search browser anytime I hold a key down for longer than a nano second (which I guess happens a lot when I type). How do I disable all Long press application launches - especially Google Search? I did disable all other applicatins thru the Settings menu but can't seem to get rid of Goolgle search launching ever minute as I type on the keyboard.

1) Cannot seem to update/install Apps - It just sits there acting like it is updating, the status bar scrolls, but nothing gets updated (or installed). As an example, I tried updating Facebook through the Google Play Store - My Apps option, sat for 10 minutes, and it never updated (but it still says I need an update). This is true for a large number of Apps that I have. I tried to install Helium so I could back up before a factory reset, and the same thing happened. It never installed.
2) Network vs. Wifi - At home, I use my Wifi connection, and I noticed that both the Wifi signal indicator and the Network Signal indicator display. I know this did not occur on the S4 (with Android. 4.4.4). Is this normal behavior for Lollipop to display both Wifi and Network connectivity?
3) Can't find a microphone for Speech-to-Text messaging on either the LG or Google keyboards. I saw one article that shows it is in the predictive text field area, but it isn't appearing on mine. - Actually - I just resolved this - it is hidden under the settings icon on the LG keyboard. I had to long press the icon for it to display.
4) No Silent Mode from the Long Press of the Power Button.

Dec 30, 2015My wife would like to be able to skip to the previous/next track using the volume + and - buttons of her S6 headset (the original headset that came in the box). The phone is running the latest stock firmware, unrooted, still locked. Is it possible to make it happen through an app, whether it's an app that is dedicated to that function or a music player app that has the option built-in ? I have the feeling this has to be activated in the rom itself.

Nov 16, 2014On the Galaxy S5, whenever you long-press the Home button, it brings up what appears to be a Google search page or something. Apparently I’m really bad at pressing buttons quickly (either that or the button is malfunctioning) because I keep accidentally bringing up this damn Google search page instead of the home screen.
Is there any possible way to disable the long-press or even just change what it does??? I’ve searched through the phone’s settings and all over the internet and haven’t found anything useful yet.

Jul 3, 2011My trackpad can still move right, left, up and down. However, the press function is no longer working as well as the entire keypad. The phone is working normally, I can receive text, calls, bbms, etc. However, I cannot just view and answer. I tried to update my OS, put a paper over the battery to tighten, I have removed the battery pack and replace a million times, tried to re-charge, removed sim and memory card and re-place but none of these tricks seem to work. I am hesitant to open it up because it will void the warranty.

Nov 3, 2011My recently bought Xoom is randomly performing interruptions of the long press. While interruptions are going on, it doesn't prevent me from pressing, but it stops any long press just as if I had moved out the finger, with wicked effects:
- Any slow scroll gets interrupted;
- Selection with long press gets cut into a regular tap;
- Use of secondary characters on keyboard (via long press) becomes impossible;
- Swype turns into a regular keyboard, since the drag line gets constantly cut.
It's like the press had a variable timeout that comes really low, to a second or milliseconds. That happens frequently (but not always) right after boot/unlock. After that random period (from seconds to about a minute), everything works fine. It's not a lag or delay, it is an interruption, like a timeout.

Jul 14, 2015I install an app on the playstore for remote control of kodi on my htpc computer , after uninstalling it , noticed when I long press and hold my home button It no longer opens up voice search, it opens google now cards page I then have to click on the mic button at the top to perform a voice search.
Is there a way to reset this ? , I uninstalled updates on google app cleared data ect , now when I press and hold my home button I only get these 2 options.
If I select "google" it opens google now page (same way as above)
Looking for a way tog et pack the long press home button and you can instantly start talking to the google voice .
I am stock rooted...

Aug 12, 2010I jailbroke my phone using jailbreakme.com. Come to find out you are unable to change the homescreen wallpaper. Between this forum and a website I found I was able to do a work around. But the website I found had told me to add a source which I did. Now when I go into Cydia it gives me an error saying something about along the lines of it is unable to fetch it. So assuming it is unable to fetch it I guess it's doing no good to have the source but when I go to manage and sources it is not listed. How can I get rid of this error?

Jan 15, 2010After upgrading to v40, I've compared the new homescreen to the old homescreen and to the old homescreen with v21-31, these are my findings.
- The old homescreen on v40 does not have the email notification that Nokia introduced a short while ago and which was obviously VERY well recieved globally.
- The new homescreen on v40 has kinetic scrolling contacts which is, um, cute. It has the ability to control the music player (What I found to be very buggy, crashing it by simply pressing 'forward' when it's playing a folder with 1 song).
- The new homescreen on v40 does not have calendar and tasks, probably for the space the new music player-thing takes. This was my FAVORITE thing on the homescreen and I am sure I'm not alone.
I truly hope Nokia addresses these issues by either returning the email notifications to the old homescreen or somehow allowing to see the calendar and tasks on the new homescreen. Or both.

Jul 23, 2015I've had my LG G3 6 months now, and overall I like it - but I *loathe* the swipe to answer calls function! 9 times out of 10 it doesn't work and so I keep missing calls whilst furiously swiping & jabbing my finger over the screen. Is there any way I can change it to something more simple, like pressing the home key? I've looked through all of the settings and googled, but can't seem to find a way around it.
