Xperia X10 :: SE PC Companion - MS Outlook Is Not Default Email Client
Nov 2, 2010
Whenever I turn on my laptop I get a message that Microsoft Outlook is not my default mail client and I have to close this before I can continue. My question is this, I do not have Microsoft Outlook set up and as I am still running Office 2000 I have no intentions of using it, is there anyway I can stop this message other than uninstalling PC Companion?
I can't get the default email client to behave like a pop3 client. Apart from some small bugs, like if inbox is empty you can't get to your sent folder, I can send and receive emails properly. However, I can't find a normal pop3 setting Leave mail on server. Which means it will download all new messages from the server, and nothing else. Now it more or less behaves like a mapi client and syncs against the server and removes all messages from the inbox that I have deleted from the server. But I want to have the messages on the phone until I delete them.Any email program out there that I can use on the Nokia E7 that can be used as a normal pop3 client? Apart from this email problem I would say that Nokia E7 is the best phone I have had so far. If I only could get the Nokia E7 hardware and use N900 software it would be perfect
I'm not sure how to describe this annoyance, but hopefully someone knows how to resolve the issue.About a month ago I received a spam Email (AOL) which I have linked to the default Email client.I deleted the Email without opening the Email but ever since the header appears everytime I receive a new Email notification in the systray.Fortunately it wasn't anything of a comprmising nature just a sales pitch for the "Original Orgreenic Pan".I've tried removing the account as well as deleting the email cache to no avail.
Im not happy with the default email client. I was wondering if theres another email client for bb that synchronizes as good as the default one. Ive tried the gmail application but i have to manually check for new emails. Looking forward to responses!
When I receive a meeting invite via my Google mail client on my D3 it comes in formatted differently than my Google mail client on my laptop. I do not get the option to accept the meeting invite to my calendar, specifically Yes, No, Maybe. Is there anything I can do to get this functionality back in the mail client for the D3?
Second if I download the .ICS file that accompanies the meeting invite, and try to apply it to my calendar, it defaults to the phone's calendar rather than my Google calendar. Is there anyway to change this so that the Google calendar is always the default?
I am using the xperia X10 for a while now and have just set up my emails using the supplied email client. I am using an IMAP account. Howeverever since i have set up my emails i have not been able to receive any text messages through the stock messaging client or hancent sms.Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this issues.
I've seen a few post that sort-of answer my question, but none seem exactly right. I have a Bold 9700 and use a BIS to retrieve my personal email from my ISP's POP server. I don't use BES. When I'm at home or at work and have direct access to email, I'd like to turn off my bb email client. How can I do that?
In one post I saw the recommendation Messages > Options > Email Reconciliation > Wireless Reconcile -> set of Off. Is this enough? (I have my BB set up for wi-fi connection when I'm home, in case that makes a difference.)
I have big problems with the default e-mail app on X10. It keeps loading every e-mail that I ever received, one by one, meaning that the app is slower and slower as time passes. At ~500 e-mails, it is not usable any more. It is veeery slow, it does not manage to download new e-mails, etc.The only solution I have found is to delete the entire e-mail account when it gets too slow. Once I have gone through all the steps of adding my account from scratch, e-mails download without problem. That is, for a few weeks, until I need to delete the account again...Of course, I found a great e-mail app on the Market. But of course, TimeScape only loads e-mails from the default app...... Is the e-mail app default Android, or is it specific to SE?
my X10 Mini Pro. I have configured 2 Yahoo! accounts in my Default Email App. One works perfectly, but the other, whenever I select the Inbox, it just force closes all the time giving the below message: The application Email (process com.android.email) has stopped unexpectedly. try again.
Why is this happening, as one account is perfectly working while the other is not? I have tried everything, from factory reset to repair.
I am using yahoo e-mail accounts with the default e-mail application that came with my phone. I've set it to check the e-mail hourly, but it does not work. It only checks it if I push the refresh button.
What can I do to make it check the e-mail automatically?
Besides the fact that IMAP idle is not working and that the "sent items" folder is not synchronized with Nokia messaging, I now have another showstopper: While the email client has an active connection, I cannot call anymore! I get - no matter which number I am dialing - a busy signal. First, I thought it would be the network. But then I disconnected the email client and the calls worked perfectly.
I'm experiencing a problem with the built-in e-mail client (NOT nokia e-mail) on my Nokia X6. When I try to Connect to my Gmail-Inbox (IMAP), it begins to trigger a connection. But just when it is connected the phone disconnects and the two arrows on the tab disappear.Does any one have the same problem? Nokia E-Mail isn't a suitable alternative for me.
Sometimes I notice that I dont get any new e-mail notifications and I have to restart the Xoom to kick it off again. When I open email, also... the indicator for synching just pinwheels forever.
A friend and I got the Galaxy S6 on the same day, and soon after we noticed that you can't open URLs from the mail client - ie someone sends you an email with a link in it, when you try and tap the link, you get this:
Just an empty white box with the link URL at top.
I spoke to Samsung on their live chat thing, and they were able to reproduce it on their test phone, and have escalated it (apparently).
I have recently downloaded the new version of Nokia Messaging for the E71. My principal problem: It successfully installs, although when I setup an email - it gets placed in the messaging folder. It does not look anything like the image attached. Rather, I access my email through the messaging / SMS folder directory. The version of Nokia Messaging is 9.07 from the messaging.nokia.com website. Has anyone had success in setting up the email client?
I have tried several setting, and changed my default email setting to "Nokia Messaging". Furthermore, when I select the "@" icon for Nokia Messaging (Not the Install Icon) - I am asked for a password? What password would that be? I am slightly lost? Any pointers. Right Now, we are ready to just uninstall the Messaging Client completely.
Anyone got problem with emails not being updated correctly?Have 3 POP3 accounts in my E6 and tested sync "soonest" and "15min" and never updates it for new emails, not even when i hit "z" it seems to sync correctly.Even sometimes it does, the overview screen/Home screen is stuck with preview from old emails.Hate this because if the email does not work properly it is completely useless for me. This works perfect on my E71 and E72.
I have recently purchased myself and another of my colleagues an HTC One M8. We also have another colleague who has had an M8 for some time.
The two new devices I setup as ExchangeActiveSync accounts on the stock mail client. The other user has set his up as IMAP/SMTP. As a company we use office365 for our email solution.
Here is an example of the issues I am having:
This morning I received 11 emails, they all came into the inbox fine, I then received a 12th email. At this point the previous 11 emails were removed from the inbox. However all these email still remained on the server. It doesn't seem to have any pattern, it could be the first or the 20th email I receive and it doesn't always remove all the previous emails. It could just be the last 4 or 5. The Sync period was set to 30 days.
The other user who has the IMAP setting says he experiences the same issue and always has done.
I have tried other mail clients on the phone and they seemed to work, I also have the same account on a Google Nexus which works without issue.
I want to setup the e-mail client to connect to the access points according to their priority, the same way Web browser does. E.g. when set to connect to Internet category, it should first try to connect to WiFi, and if it's not available, connect to a packet data account. Can I do that with E72?
I recently bought myself a brand new Zodium Black Nokia E72. I had one when the phone released 2 years back in 2009 and got it in the Metal Grey but sold it for an Htc Inspire.Back on topic, I had no problems with the E72's email client back then on my old device but noticed a difference in my recent E72. I have a Yahoo email account set up on my device. Syncing is great, but the problem is that i'm unable to view my created folders for sorting of mailI have no problems viewing this on my Htc Inspire, but I want to be able to see them on my E72.
When i first got my bb9700 i added my hotmail account and everything was working fine but i deleted my mistake and now when i tryed adding it again i get this msg sent to my phone. If you use an email client (e.g. Microsoft(R) Outlook(R), Mozilla(R) Thunderbird(TM), etc.) to access your avibassi91@hotmail.com messages, change your email client settings to leave your email messages on the server. If the email client does not leave email messages on the server, the BlackBerry(R) Internet Service may not be able to deliver them to your BlackBerry(R) device. To leave email messages on your email server you may need to complete the following steps:
1. In your email client (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.) on your computer, under Tools or Mail > Preferences. 2. Select your email account. 3. Locate advanced, server settings or options. 4. Select the option to leave email messages on the server.
Refer to your email client help for more information. Sent from my BlackBerry device on the Rogers Wireless Network I cant find my own email icon on my blackberry screen but some of my msgs still get sent to my blackberry msg icon. im not that good with blackberrys and computers
I am having K550i model of Sony Ericsson. I want to used it internal email client for my Gmail account or my yahoo account. I have GPRS connection. So can one help me to configure it. I don't know how to configure internal email client.
I am new to this community and I am here because of the problems I experienced with my W580i today and yesterday. Yesterday I finished setting up the phone's email client and got it working but then the trouble began. I went to my 'Inbox' and chose 'Send & receive' to download emails from the server and after few minutes I got the result -- 300 (if I recall) unread emails. 50 of them were displayed on the first page and all had yellow closed envelope tags. Now the problem was that actually all those emails had already been read using my laptop's email client but that's just the beginning. So, I read all those messages again (yes, I know I can mark them read one by one), which took some time.
But after that I still had 250 or so "unread" emails, so I chose 'View older' to get rid of all unread emails and obviously had to download all those messages, which takes about 5 minutes alone. Here's where it got really bad. I had noticed that it was possible to mark messages but when I hoped to mark all 50 messages together and 'Mark as read' I found out for my sadness that it is not possible to mark more than one message read. Thing is that group of marked marked messages can be marked for deletion but not marked as read. That meant I had to mark all 50 messages on the page as read one by one and that takes about 4 minutes when you do it fast. Now that's bad but it got much worse.
(Also a note that messages that were on 2nd and other pages weren't tagged with yellow envelope but grey one and I think they had to be downloaded again to open after clicking them, which different them from the yellow ones, which can be opened straight away. At least it seemed to be so.) So, I went on to next page (, which obviously meant I had to download all those messages) and marked those as read but soon I realised that messages marked as read on previous pages will automatically be unread again when you go to next pages (select 'View older'), which is obviously very annoying! Well, I am not the type who would give up, so I tried all kind of things like choosing 'Send & receive' again and starting from the last page of "unread" emails, which meant 6th page.
I had some luck with the latter as when I had marked last (page 6) 50 messages all read one by one and went on to 'View newer' (page 5), those messages had still remained read and number of unread messages had decreased by 50. So, I was quite hopeful and went on to next page ('View newer' again) and number of unread messages was 200 (wow) ! But after managing to deal with all those messages on the page and going on to next page number of unread messages had automatically gone up again. I was obviously rather sad now as my plan didn't work but still didn't give up. But fortunately/unfortunately my suffering was finished as I ran out of credit (I'm using pay as you go service), which is probably quite obvious after downloading pages with 50 emails many times.
Anyway, that's the worst thing that could happen to me as I had just topped up my mobile 2 days ago and I normally manage at least 2-3 months with one topping up! As I am poor at the moment I can't afford topping up again so soon either. Plus I have spent many hours on this annoying thing yesterday and today (because I had to repeat the steps I mentioned above, battery ran low etc.). Now, my first question is whether there is any way to avoid that kind of trouble and somehow get all messages read? My experience shows that it doesn't seem to be possible. Secondly, maybe just maybe only way would be to delete all those so-called unread emails? But then I would get them again when choosing 'Send & receive' to get new emails? Thirdly, I am so disappointed that I would like to get re-imbursed by Sony Ericsson but that's probably unthinkable as you didn't make me use the email client.
All this time iPhone was out on the market, i needed a way to make the Mail.app to scan into my email folders. i have a Yahoo! account set up and it's only for the Inbox. i have filters/rules that redirect emails to certain folders in the yahoo email account, but the iOS Mail.app doesn't scan in there. is there an alternative? other than entering - step by step - in all the folders?
I have a question, as above. I like to look back and check sometimes when I responded to an email but can find no way of checking sent mail. I have checked lots of forums, the settings on my phone, etc, without success.
After the last software update I installed on my Blackberry torch, I have lost the option to set Outlook as my default calendar - apparently Facebook is now my default. how I can change it? My syncing is showing as Outlook.
I have just finished configuring the email client on E75 (this may or may not have relevance)(Fw:211.12.01). Since then an unknown data connection keeps coming up. No application is running, but there is an active connection, shown by the icon and by the connection manager. If I disconnect it from the manager, it comes back again in a couple of minutes. The data rate is 5-10 kB/hour, so no large data traffic is made.
However, I do not like at all that the phone initiates 3G connection without my permission, or without being able to figure out exactly what application is doing it. Automatic updates, mail check, agps, etc. are all set to off.) Has anyone experienced this? Is there any utility to find what exactly is using the data connection? I will try a backup, reset, restore, but this won't make me any satisfied with this product.
