Xperia PLAY :: PC Companion Won't Recognize Verzion R800X
Sep 8, 2012
I downloaded PC Companion onto my computer so I could update my Xperia Play from 2.3.2 to 2.3.4. But the problem is when I connect my phone to my computer PC Companion says searching and then says no phone connected. When I try going to support center and go to how to connect to USB (which is an option that's suppose to get PC companion to notice my phone.). When the process is finished it still won't recognize the phone. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling PC companion but the same thing still happens. I also tried disconnecting and connecting my phone but the the same thing still happens.
it looks like the sony play R800x wll get a android update starting monday but will it be android 4.0? likey not but it looks like it may be geting at lest android 2.3.6 or 2.3.7 on 4-30-2012 but still this is the 1st update in a long time [URL]
what you guys think will it be ICS can wait too find out
note how the update is olny 67mb but all so not that the 67mb is all so the biges update on there why the rest is 925kb up too 66mb so it makes you kind of wounder what this update is going too be about is it going to be ICS likey not the 67mb is likey too small for ICS so too me it looks like it be geting android 2.3.6 or 2.3.7
So I am on my third r800x in about 6 weeks. The first one refused to download the update no matter what was tried so it was replaced under warrenty. And the second was replaced because it was rebooting about 3 times a day. I finally got one that works for everything but connecting it to PC Companion. No matter what mix of modes I use it refuses to connect to PC companion. I cant figure out what is going on. (PC Companion ver:2.10.053 Prod:22.1) I downloaded PC Companion from the SEMC site because it was not on the SD card in the phone like the instructions said on the Website.
I actually have a huge problem updating. 2 days ago I updated my wife's Xperia r800x. Now I try to update my Xperia r800x and at first it just says update failed and I try to use pc companion and update service and they both say there is no available update for your phone (Over the air update also fails). Now when I try to connect to an over the air update it says that there was an error try back again later and about 8 hours later i try again and still no luck! Pc companion and Sony update service are still saying the same thing (no available update for your phone). I have already tried the repair phone option also and this is really frustrating! I am guessing this might be a verizon problem for the over the air option but as far as sony's side i feel like i shouldn't be having this problem. Did they pull the update?
i plugged my phone up last night before i went to bed and it was working fine. when i got up it was turned off, when i try to turn it on the led on the power button blinks red. i tried plugging it up and it showed sony ericcson on the screen then nothing. its not registering the charger, and ive tried removing the battery and checking it out and it the battery dosent appear damaged and my sd card is fine.
i decided to root my XPeria play and i didn't know what would be the outcome of it. Since im use to iOS i though it would install something similiar to Cydia. Well, it didn't and i checked if it had any updates and there was. So it did all of its download process and installing but it told me in the end ''Error: Update Failed''. and so i tried PC Companion and that didn't work either. So im in need of removing the ROOT out of my phone and installing a new software update on it. Currently, im on version 2.3.3.
Today I noticed a tiny x over my signal bars. I went to settings phone about and the settings give me a popup stating it crashed and I had one option [force close]. After a reboot a tiny display at the top right appeared " (No Service) "
I rebooted the phone several times, checked every setting the phone would allow (couldn't go to airplane mode -just info here) and still had the same problems.
Decided to go ahead and reset the phone (w/o wiping the SDcard). The inital screen came up to choose your language - no problem I clicked English The next screen was the cute green android wanting me to touch his tummy.... sigh No matter how many times I touch his tummy he just stays there. I have reset this phone previously with no issues at all.
Things I have tried:
Multiple reboots (20+) Removed the battery for 30 minutes and tried again Removed the SDcard and tried again Held down various combinations of buttons while rebooting Always it comes up with the droid wanting his tummy touched..
I have the CDMA version of the xperia play but bootloader unlocking is IMEI based. I have fastboot ready to go I just need the correct key. I can provide MEID number or anything else needed.
During the firmware update process on PC Companion, I deliberately unplugged the phone and my PC now no longer recognizes the phone for performing an update again. Tried installing the firmware, holding the Back key while plugging into the computer etc but still it does not appear as connected. All I can see again and again is a block of color appeared at the bottom of the screen as shown in the photo attached. Have tried a hard reset by holding the left, right and power button at the same time but did not help too.
i have downgraded my neo v from officially updated ICS to gingerbread 2.3.4 build .62(flashing via flashtool)..after that rooted with unlocked bootloader..but my phone only connects in mass storage mode..even if i change to MTP mode,,pc companion says no phone connected....
i installed pc companion from the web, then i click en any function, a windows go out, and said: this aplication can be installed, try later; i installed from the cell phone too, whit the same result.
So, am i the only person who connect get PC Companion to work with my phone? i try connecting and it says i need to be in MTP. Then it tells me how to get into MTP, which would be awesome, if it were correct!!! My notification bar does not have the option to switch between MTP and USB (MCP) or whatever its called. Im on the Xperia Play from verizon, R800x, running stock ROM 2.3.3
I tried connectiong my xperia play R800i to pc companion via wifi, followed the steps and everything but when it tells me to tap my pc name under connectivity settings/ trusted devices for wireless media transfer it's greyed out? Im running windows 7 x64 by the way and my phone has v2.3.4
The software on my SD card got accidentally deleted. MY phone does nor prompt to install PC Companion when I connect it to New PC /Notebook. How do I get it back to to my SD card ?
I want to update my Xperia Play to version 3.0.1.A.0.146, but PC Companion 2.0 wont let me. I change my phone to 'mediaoverdracht modus' ( it's in dutch, i don't know the english word ). It's the modus that is required for updating your phone, and it's step 3. But it fails every single time. PC Companion keeps saying it is unable to connect to my PLAY. No errorcode or nothing, it just gives the advice to reconnect my phone to the PC.
Sony Creative Software's "Media Go" program is able to "see" my Xperia PLAY (as is my operating system), but not Sony Ericsson's PC Companion... Furthermore, other Sony Ericsson handsets work fine with Media Go.In an effort to resolve this, I have tried both of the Xperia PLAY's connectivity modes (Media Transfer Protocol and Mass Storage Mode), un-installed the drivers and PC Companion, re-installing PC Companion and the drivers... All to no avail.
I'm trying to move my music files from my laptop to my phone. No Problem. I can find the files but the standard music player does not support WMA. More importantly how can I fix it.
i just bought a used xperia play and a new 32gb sd card class 4 (adata). the memory works fine in my laptop but when i put it in the phone it wont do anything, it wont let me mount or anything, its like there isn't anything insde. i already read that the back cover has to be placed proporly so it is pressing the little white switch, the cover is properly placed. okay just now i used the update service program and it says it has modified content, okay i know its a used phone so it is totaly possible but how to i get it back to original firmware or software or whatever, im new to andriod so what am i suppose to do (already have PC companion and update service), sorry for my bad grammer but right now im fricking out! this is the phone of my dreams and i can't enjoy it because of the sd card!! right now im going to restore to factory but i fear it will brick my phone since i got that "modified content" message.
in the worst case senario, say the sd reader is broken, how much does sony charge to fix it? do they even fix it? if they do, do thay have it in mexico?details: i formated the micro sd card on my laptop on FAT 32
I really like the visualization with the standard player but it won't recognize Google play music files even when stored on my device. Is there a way to get it to "see" them?
I cannot install PC companion from either of two laptops - am just getting "404 - not found". Might this be a security/firewall problem? I am running Kaspersky anti-virus plus Tune-up Utilities.
When I connect my phone with my pc via pc software "PC Companion", it did not recognise my device, driver MTP didnt install in pc.how can i connect with pc companion.
I can't install PC companion 2.10.027 on my Windows 7 Ultimate / 64bit system.Until this version was released I was using version 2.02.002 and it was OK. Recently, the update to the new versin was requested and it failed. After this, I have uninstalled the old version, so now I can't use any version of PC companion .I was trying many times to install the new version using Startme.exe on my phone and the downloaded PC Companion_2.10.027_Web.exe. The result was always the same - the installation was starting by displaying the title page of the new version and then was dying after a few seconds. When I reinstall version 2.02.002, it installs successfully, but before allowing to be used, it demands the update to the latest version, which, of course fails.I was trying to switch off all my firewall before the installation (without any change ).After each installation failure, the system log shows some error in NewUI.dll.
I am using 2.3.4 and I have no plans of using ICS on my xperia neo (SI :1246-9893). My query is if I continue use GB 2.3.4 and some time if I need to reinstall same GB 2.3.4 then can I able to update with update service or PC Companion???As per my knowledge it will always point to latest update. But I want to keep GB 2.3.4 as along as I am happy with it
I decided to update my software on my xperia x10... so i tried to open my pc companion and remembered why i hadnt updated it before ... because the pc companion will not work! so i downloaded the pc companion again and guess what, it doesnt work.It downloads fine and then when i try to run it, it says "you must close all programs and restart your computer before running this program". so i do this and try again and it still says "you must close all programs and restart your computer before running this program".I have spent the last three hours resarting my computer making sure all my programs were shut.
Would anyone be able to assist, since it doesn't seem like you can open a support call directly with SE. I am simply trying to update my Experia X10 software and even though I am connected to the internet (and can browse and download anything from anywhere) I can't use the PC Companion software to update my phone. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled it (ver 2.0) and still it fails. It simply says 'unable to install or start phone software update components.'
I've used PC companion to update my X10 to Android 2.1. I've gone through all the steps and phases and the software is telling me it's up to date yet there are no changes to my phone at all except the wiping of all my files that I've backed up. The phone is still on 1.6, I still have only 3 home screens and everything else is the same. I've gone through the update twice now and nothing has changed.
