Why Does FaceTime Not Work On IPhone But Works On Mac
Jun 27, 2014
I've been having troubles with using facetime with my iphone. I never had this problem before getting a mac. Whenever I receive a facetime call or try to facetime someone, it says it's connecting but after a while, it says it's unable to connect because whenever I receive a call, my mac also receives it and when I pick up the call from the iphone, the mac somehow ends the call. However, for some reason, facetime works on macs.
My friend has just changed from a gmail email account to an iCloud email address to use on FaceTime. I use my macbook (purchased last november) to sync all my address between my devices when things change, and when call her via my macbook or iPad it connects perfectly, yet when I try to connect using my iPhone I get the message "xxxxx is not available for FaceTime". All my setting are identical on each device, so what could be going wrong?
Having had issues with my SIM card (I was getting invalid SIM daily) my provider swapped the SIM and ported the number to a new card. Since doing this however Facetime no longer works or the find iphone ability through iCloud - just says that its not available. Phone is working fine on everything else. Is there some sort of registration I need to go through with the new SIM card?
If you are unaware, AT&T offers data only plans to those who are hearing impaired (deaf).Since you have to CALL someone to do facetime, how does that work when you dont have voice plan at all. I know that after your call connects and you can move to facetime and your call will drop. But if you dont have any voice plan at all, how does that work ?They were not very clear about this.
I have an iPhone5 (16GB - 5 GB free space available) and iOS 7.1.1. A couple of days back my apps stopped connecting to Internet. Both 3G network and WiFi connections work as google app and chrome browser connect to internet. Everything else doesn't including safari, mail, whatsapp. Notifications for almost every app work.Â
I tried the following:
1. I Restarted almost everything: router, iphone, iphone with both Home and Power switches held together.
2. I tried upgrading to 7.1.2 but I kept getting s/w is unavailable at this time error. I tried removing the downloaded software. Now I get unable to check for update (not connected to internet) error.
3. I connected to PC and upgraded iTunes to latest version, but can't figure out how to make anything, that's not working, work
4. Also, I tried removing apps that I sparingly use.
So from my understanding you'll be in a phone call then you hit the facetime button and facetime will start. So will it use your minutes with att or will it end the phone call before starting facetime?
I just bought 2 Iphone 4's for me and my husband but we cant seem to facetime each other what are we doing wrong??? can we even facetime? Do we need Wifi?
I have been having a great deal of trouble using Siri. She only works consistently on WiFi (with times when she doesn't work at all). Siri rarely works when I'm on 3G or 4G even with full bars. What can I do?
Will give it a week. I mean, let's face it. The front camera was one of the biggest new features that drew people in. I cant use it with ichat or any app so face time is my only route. Have tried in 5 different location with 3 other iphone 4 users. gets stuck on "connecting" and eventually fails. So Apple - you can either approve an App that lest me chat with an ichat user or give me money for the iphone 4 + another phone since I sold my old phone.
I am using a JB iPhone with an iPad SIM (data only). I also have My3G enabled. Tested it this morning on the streets of San Francisco that you CAN do FaceTime with an iPad SIM.
Just got a new iPhone 4S from etisalat last week, however, i cannot get facetime to work. I see no reference to facetime in the settings? Is there anyway to activate it?
I upgraded my phone last night to 5.1.1. and this morning i noticed that i couldnt text anyone unless it was through imessage. calling works and my apps work but just regular texting does not work. will restoring fix this?
I had a Bluetooth earpiece (Plantronics 925) and was in a voice call with my wife on her iPhone 4. When I initiated FaceTime and it transitioned over, it dropped the Bluetooth audio and reverted to the onboard speaker and microphone. With FaceTime's simplified GUI, there's nothing to switch the audio back to the headset, and tapping my button on my earpiece did nothing.
FYI, I also tried this with wired headphones and the audio continued on the headphones properly (didn't go into speakerphone mode).Looks like Apple doesn't really like, care, or know Bluetooth much or enough to implement AVRCP for controlling playback, or using Bluetooth audio for non telephony purposes.
Yesterday, I lost my phone at the mall. I used iCloud's "Find My iPhone" to locate it but in case I didn't get it back, I deleted all the data in it and called my carrier to deactivate my line. I was able to get it back so I got my line reactivated and restored it from a back up. But now, my iMessage and FaceTime won't work. I've restored it multiple times but it won't activate. What should I do?
As I was having my iphone 4 activated, the "genius" informed me that Facetime will not work unless you have a message plan with AT&T. Funny how those "free" Facetime chats now cost $5 per month. Again, AT&T and Apple do a bait and switch. Or did they assume everyone had a message plan. I didn't and I still don't. Text messaging is the biggest scam these wireless companies have going. I can send an email with attachments, photos, videos, War & Peace if I want to and it doesn't cost me a nickel. Sent a two letter text message and it will cost me $0.20. If I really want to send a text, there are dozens of free text apps out there. Apparently, when you initiate a facetime call, it sends a text message to the recipient which doesn't count as a text message. So why the hell do you need a plan? Charge me $.20, not $5.00 per month. Blatant false advertising!!!!!
Recently I switched from a CDMA service to GSM iPhone 4s using my same phone number. Facetime and iMessage will not activate. However, under Facetime settings where there is usually a phone number my email address is there (which is also my apple ID). So even though this is not activated someone can Facetime me using my email address. My phone was reset to factory settings twice and it didn't help. Apple Store tried to fix it to no avail and gave me a new phone. Once they loaded it back up, same issue. So we decided it was the carrier of the service. I checked with them and they are puzzled as well. We are thinking it has something to do with taking my existing phone number from CDMA to GSM and something happened.
The sound on my iphone wont work with text messages and music but works with calls and headphones. Didn't do anything to it was just sitting there and it happened so i dont think a setting changed. and the volume bar wont show up when i press side buttons or in the music?
