Sony Ericsson :: C510 Inactive SIM / Insert SIM Error
Aug 20, 2010
I've bought a SE c510 recently. Maybe a month ago. All was working fine until a couple of days ago, it started giving me error message. First, it will say Inactive Sim. Then, it will turn itself on, and give me this error message: "Insert Sim or View Demo Video first" It takes more than a couple of on/off remove battery cycles before it functions again. My Sim is definitely not inactive. Cause At times that I don't get this error, it works. I have also updated to the latest firmware as of 06/27/10. I still get the errors. Is there s aolution to this? I have been using SE Phones for a long time now and I don't usually have issues like this.
I have a C510 Sony Ericsson Phone. I bought is about 7-8 months ago. Recenly it has started behaving a little weird. I couldn't figure out if it is a software problem or hardware problem. Some of the problems it is showing are:It is very slow. Actions take place after 5-10 seconds after pressing the keys. For example: To look for a name in PhoneBook, if I type 'R' after 5-10 seconds it will show names starting with 'R'. If I press the Dial button on some contact, the phone hangs (the screen also goes blank) until the other party picks up the phone.Sometimes the screen splits up in two identical sub-screens. Restarting the phone is the only options in this case. This is what I did to fix it:Formatted the memory card after backing up the essensital data (contacts and notes)When the above didn't work I did a Master Reset The phone got a little (very little) faster, But No significant improvement. This tells me that the problem is not software related. There is some problem in the hardware. Let me know what to do. today It showed a new problem: "While searching in the phone book If I have to look for a name say "Prashant", and to start with I press key '7' to type 'P', it types direclty the third letter on key '7' that is 'R'. And the name starting with 'R' show up. The same thing happened with every key (1 to 9). " I restarted the phone and it got back to normal. This is getting irritating. Tell me what can I do.
I recently got a SE C905 on orange. The phone is on contract and contained all the orange branding like "orange maps" etc. and a distinct lack of all the things I was hoping to find on the default SE like "google maps, wayfinder, tennis" etc. Also the shortcut button no longer has shortcuts like previous SE phones its just for Applications in use!
I decided that debranding the phone was the way to go to restore this phone to its beautiful self! So using davinci I installed the Generic SE Firmware, which of course had Wayfinder, Google Maps and the rest of it! It was awesome, the phone worked smoothly, the menus looked better and even vibrated when u moved the cursor around and the GPS seemed to have a better signal!
Anyway an hour or so later I looked at my phone to see it read "Inactive Sim" rather than orange! You can imagine my disappointment! I have now rebranded my phone back to orange and is working fine no "Inactive Sims" as of yet! I am desperate to get off this orange firmware and back to the generic firmware as it is a million times better! I cannot remove orange maps or any of the rubbish they put on there, so no chance of trying to do that!
i live in aus and i have SE T715. im with 3. on prepaid. when i woke up today it said where the "3" symbol is meant to be "Inactive SIM". called 3 and they said your account isnt barred or anything and everything seems fine on our end. so i turned the phone off and turned it back on and wala it was back to normal again! the sim is only 1 month old! it hasnt said "inactive sim" since! weird.another thing is i couldnt make phone calls a couple of hours afterwards. the signal bar was on full but the "G" symbol in the top left hand corner disappeared and wasnt replaced with anything. so i turned my phone off and turned it back on and guess what? back to normal. it only did it that one time and same with the usim message only once. hasnt played up since! it just seems turning the phone off and turning it back on fixes it.there are three things that can be causing this 1:the sim card 2:the phone or 3: the network. what do you guys think.
I am thinking of debranding my c510 which is Orange branded. I have never done it before and a bit scared i will ruin my phone. Can anyone give me advice or a link to a guide on how to do it. A guide simple to follow guide. Wish i could have someone do it for me and pay them cos i am nervous. I have updated software via SEUS before on my old K800i which was easy. Just wonder if debranding is as easy?
Currently i am using a D750i, and have done so for since oct '05'since i bought it. but her days are numbered.. nearly bought the C510, then i saw the C901 (online). so, is the 901 worth the extra cash? here in hk, the 510 is about euro98 and the C901 (grey import) euro192.
i'm in a bit of a predicament. i've been a p series user since it came out and i had a problem with my p990 back in march and i wanted to buy my dad a new phone. well it just so happened that my dad had to go to the hospital a day before i got the c510 for him, so i ended up using it until he got out. well i fell in love with the c510 while he was in the hospital and was planning to keep it until the satio came out. now i keep seeing a lot of people bitching about the satio, and some saying to wait for the android version of it. i'm a bit out of the loop right now and was wondering if i should get the satio or wait for a different phone. whatever phone i get, i want it to be the top end se phone on the market as i have a habit of not buying a new phone until 2-3 years down the road. like i said the c510 is an amazing phone and i don't mind keeping it until the next best thing from se comes out. i honestly thought that having the c510 was gonna be a downgrade for me, but i couldn't believe how amazing it is!! so is it the satio or is there something coming after it that has been announced already?also in one of the videos on Internet the se guy says that satio is now q1 2010....i thought it was q3 2009?
If you want to download it, just click here. I think this is only for phones that support Capuchin.
Capuchin Water Level makes extensive use of the accelerometer feature of the phone which is only made available to the Java ME platform. The accelerometer is exposed to Flash Lite using Project Capuchin.
I'm looking at replacing my creaky old K800i with a C510, but wondered if the C510 has a kind of joystick or if it's a D-pad "clicky button" arrangement? It's hard to tell from the videos and written reviews. I play a lot of games on my mobile and I like the feel of the joystick, so I was really hoping I could upgrade to another SE phone with joystick, but I guess they're falling out of favour (especially since many people had problems with the K800 joystick).
I bought a Sony Ericsson C510 before 7 months ago and now I confused with such a problem which always gave the message "Insert Sim or view demo" and "Inactive SIM" always. And it is already damaged to my SIM also (SIM was worked perfectly when I have this problem). So I bought a new SIM and insert it and again my phone gave me same error. But my new SIM is work properly in other phones now also. I already updated the firmware of the phone. But still it not detecting the SIM.
I had purchased Mobile Model # C510 on 13 June 2010. However, soon my mobile went dead and I submitted (Work order # SE310RT317708) this to Sony Ericsson Service Center (RT Outsourcing Services Ltd, Pune) on 7 Aug 2010. They informed me that there is some problem with the motherboard of the mobile and it need to be sent to the factory for replacement, for which they said it would take 15-20 days of time. However, now it is close to two months and till date I have not received my mobile. Upon repeated calling they just say it would be done in weeks time, dont know when that week would come. I also, called up your call center for the same (Ref # 88390486 and 88429925) and they said it would be done in a couple of days time, however, I have not received my mobile till date. My concern:Is Sony Erricsson so irresponsible towards its customers?

Troubled by your gadget update? Should I get a new phone or a new camera? If you are tight on budget (like anyone else, actually), there is a way to satisfy both needs *cheaply*. The new Sony Ericsson C510 packs a great camera into a miniature, yet functional phone. Let’s see how good it is!
The package includes the phone, a battery, charger, a handsfree, and a data cable.
The new installment to the Cybershot family is not like any of its “big” brother at 12.5mm thick only. I can’t imagine how difficult it was to fit so many things inside this miniature body.
Texters beware: the keys are small and are very tightly packed, so big-thumb people (like me!) will have some troubles in adapting to this keyboard. I was able to type with one hand, but the phone doesn’t feel secure in my hand due to its small body.
On the side of the phone you can find the M2 slot. You can swap the card without turning off the phone - a handy feature if you have bought more than 1 (unreasonably expensive) M2 cards.
The lens cover is a bit tricky. To open it, you have to push it from the side (i.e. the side that is pointing to the top of the phone). Dragging the big arrow with your thumb won’t work. The backcover is softer than I thought, perhaps due to the fact that lens cover has to curl (a bit) in order to jump onto the battery cover.
Here is where the Sony Ericsson C510 truly shines - a Cybershot camera. Forget about all other 3.2MP auto-focus cameras out there, the one inside the Sony Ericsson C510 is here to rule. Featuring Smile Shutter and a host of camera settings, you will immediately feel “at home” with this phone if you are using/have owned a Cybershot camera.
Ah, Face Detection, who can live without that? Being a common feature on almost all digital cameras today, Face Detection finds its place on the Sony Ericsson C510 to provide a true camera-like experience.
The sample picture below is taken with the Sony Ericsson C510 under indoor fluorescent lightning. While it is still no match to the 8MP camera phones, the superb quality is one of the best I have seen for a 3.2MP sensor. Excellent work, Sony Ericsson!
It’s auto or closed flash - strangely there is no way you can force the powerful flash to provide the much needed illumination. Here is another sample without flash.
What do you think of my photos, I'm pretty shocked?! I've gone over the settings carefully and checked with Sony and the shop. In these I've used portrait as Auto is worse. These two were taken early evening in low light.
Then after a few more attempts I get a "better" photo
Daytime photos seem ok
I've taken loads of photos and the low light ones I get maybe 1 in 6 turn out, not brilliant, but at least not totally black! Very strange. I'm being careful to take the photo when both lights are green too.
I like the look of both but perhaps the T700 a little more, I am more of a texter but don't mind key size and I like my phones to feel sturdy and not too plasticy. I do like to receive/take a fair few photos also. My partner is picking me 1 up tonight so I have a few hours to decide which and you all seem to know what you are on about.
im ever so new to this, i may even be asking a daf question.is it possible to save and load a wikimapia on the C510 and view it as a map, to zoom in and out? the one i have in mind is of a satelite image.or is it (or how does one do it) possible to save and load other maps? or do you always have to us the data transfer?
Just a quick question really, I wanna put some new flash menus and generally pimp up my C510 like I did with my w580i. I know the C510 had new software so it wasn't possible months ago, but has anyone actually cracked it yet or are we still waiting? I am so bored of the standard stuff on there now.
I have a C510 R1HA035. Since the last firmware update I have been experiencing a reduction in coverage i.e.the signal strength has reduced a lot. Also I found another bug.In the stand-by the alarm time with the symbol is shown on the bottom left. However, after calls, the call time is shown on bottom left and the alarm time goes above the date, and the logo overlaps the time.
