Jun 27, 2012I have an Sii gt-i9100g running ICS 4.03 (non-rooted). Recently I've been getting an error when applications try to update: "Application cannot be installed in the default install location".
So I checked my phone storage.
phone memory: 1.97Gb
Applications: 647mb
Free: 247mb
USB storage has about 10.5Gb available.
I uninstalled a few applications I didn't need on a regular basis and then the phone was able to update the installed applications successfully. I went in to application management and there's no option to move the installed applications to USB storage (I don't have an external SD card). So this raises a few concerns:
1: How come there's a mystery 1.1 gigabytes that isn't accounted for in the phone storage? I thought all of Android ICS was stored in that missing 4GB of USB storage memory...
2: If the phone doesn't allow further installations to phone memory when there's only about 200mb available, and if the phone has reserved 1.1 gigabytes for some hidden purpose, then is it true that without buying an SD card, we only really have about 700MB available for applications?!
3: Why isn't the option to move applications to USB storage available under ICS? I believe this was available in Gingerbread.
I'm new to the SII, but if its the case that this supposedly 16GB device only truly has 700MB available for apps without an External SD card, then I'm gonna be pretty angry.
Motorola Electrify :: Errors After Removing Pre-installed Apps?
Dec 5, 2011My phone is shutting itself off or rebooting itself unreasonably often, and the camera/camcorder "fail to initialize" or exit when pressing the record button incredibly frequently. Tried uninstalling random apps with no improvement.I hope that, in the future, that Motorola will stop wasting resources trying to customize the OS and focus only on making sure things work properly.I also hope to see the ICS update as vanilla, untouched as possible.On a side note, is there any way to see debugging/error info or whatnot with these phones? I've saved myself a lot of headaches with such information on the PC - one would think a phone essentially running linux would also have some info like that.
Edit:Uninstalled the bloatware I'll never use when I first got phone - alogcat is showing a lot of warnings relating to the apps which are now "missing" on top of quite a few other errors/warnings etc. Disappointed - why can't US cell have untouched Android OS on its best phone

Dec 1, 2011I am running windows 7 starter. I update my device so installed kies and update, got interrupted somehow and soft bricked. Sent it off to samsung who told me to just be careful when using kies. Tried then to install software using odin and it is bricked again!rom numerous conversations with a fellow giffgaffer have determined that it is a driver problem. Apparently I should have 'samsung composite device (abd) listed and I don't. I plug it in my netbook and some times I get 'samsung composite device' (no abd) and when I go into device manager it always has a yellow triangle next to it.
Most of the time I get 'unknown device' or 'gadget serial' in manager and when I try and update drivers it says they are up to date, manually I can find samsung composite usb driver and then I get one of two things 'software found but could not install' (error 10) or 'windows stopped the device working' (error 43.) have tried installing kies, uninstalling kies, installing samsung device driver for mobile phones. Nothing has worked. I have exactly the same results on my desktop pc, running 7 home premium so I don't think it is a usb port problem.

May 8, 2010I have accidentally installed too many games on the phone, after I've reached it's 40 applications limit I cannot access it's games section anymore. When I try to do that the phone freezes for one minute then it "restarts" (as you would turn it on). I've tried so far to clear it's memory (I don't have an memory card in it), that erased everything else besides the games, tried to access them from "Memory Status" in Settings (does the same thing as accessing them by the normal way), even tried to connect the phone to the PC through bluetooth and use My Mobile Explorer and float's mobile agent but both fail to connect with the phone even though the link is working (even though I managed to do so with Samsung's software)Does anybody know what to do to fix this annoyance?

The sticky says to remove it but on mine there's a hole in the centre right over the middle of the lens, a few mm in diameter. I assumed it was there was there for protection so have left it in place especially in view of the hole over the centre of the lens. So is it still obscuring something or can I leave it there?

Jul 27, 2010I received my Vibrant on last week. I've installed less than 10 apps.Which is not heavy,(emails, weather, three games.) After this, all of the reponse has been slow.Especially, when the phone is screen locked, and I try to use the phone I press unlock button on the side. Screen come up slower than the first time. And also, when I talking on the phone through the ear, and I try to hang up(the phone is getting away from the ear, it supposed to show the menus, like add call, dial pad, end call.)This screen comes up little slow now.I went on to check the apps running and nother were really heavy software running. Should I try to reset the factory reset? Any recommendation? I know, this is not a major problem.(maybe I should not say these are the problem) but it was fast response but, why it does response little slow?

By using the function somewhere in the "Emergency software recovery and initialization" tab, it will opt the user to upgrade/reinstall the existing software therefore unrooting your device.
My question is - how about using this method to remove the custom recovery (i.e. CWM or TWRP), thus reverting back to stock recovery?

Jul 22, 2015i have a s6 demo unit G920x.i want to install custom recovery twrp but when i do (twrp-2.8.7.1-zeroflte.img.tar) via odin the phone doesnt go any futher than the samsung boot screen (even when i hold the volume up, power and home button)
i managed to go back to the original recover with CF auto root (CF-Auto-Root-zeroflte-zerofltedv-smg920i.tar.md5), but when i boot the recovery up, i cant wipe the phone because it is a demo unit (mdm does not allow factory reset).on the end of the recovery there are also two yellow lines saying '''dm-verity verification failed...'' and ''Need to check DRK first...)
So, how to get the custom recovery working so i can install a new rom through the recovery, or official firmware for the demo unit.

Oct 23, 2015I am wondering why my youtube app wont update for the last 2 weeks ... it keeps giving me error 501 and saying youtube cant be installed. Tried disabling , clearing all android stuff , and uninstalling , and nothing seem to work. Also one more problem with the camera video sound.
Every video i make , will only give output through one earbud when i plug them in. Its only with the video recording. Rest works perfectly fine , even the voice recorder.

Nov 26, 2015I have a new phone S6. While downloading a new app, the new icon settled at the place where my Gmail icon was. Now my Gmail icon seems lost.
It is not in the app drawer. I created no folder accidentally. When I go to Widgets and drag the 1x1 Gmail icon to the desktop, Gmail opens instead of dropping the icon on my desktop. When I close Gmail, there is still no icon.
I can't find how to uninstall Gmail. Playstore only gives option Open or Update.
I have touchwizard TouchWiz Start selected.
I read about hidden Icons but I don't understand.
I did a restart.
I did not yet Factory Reset.
How to proceed?
