Nokia PC/Mac Software :: Migrating From Windows Mobile?
Aug 25, 2010
I recently bought a Nokia 6700 and need to transfer all my data (especially messages and contacts) from my old Windows Mobile Smartphone to the new device. So my question has two parts:
1. How do I export my data from the Win Mobile Device to my PC?
So i'm trying to upload my email via imap from my Gmail account to Ovi (imap). I want to close my gmail account, and have all my email in one place (Ovi).
I get the following error in Windows Live Mail:
LIMIT] APPEND failed - Unusual Activity Detected. To protect you, your account has been suspended from sending, saving, and receiving for up to 48 hours.Configuration: Account: Ovi (mpayne.nzl) Server: imap.mail.ovi.com User name: mpayne.nzl@ovi.com Protocol: IMAP Port: 993 Secure(SSL): 1 Code: 800cccd2
Should I just give up on Ovi and head back to Gmail?
I've received a .caf file, which is playable in QuickTime. Is there a QuickTime app available for windows phones? I can't find any evidence of one. Is there anything else I can use to play this file?
So got the Tmobile 810. Have been using unlocked Nokia phones (Symbian) till now and use JoikuSpot to share internet on as needed basis. Not very often, but good to know it is there when needed.
Now when select Internet Sharing to ON, asks if want to activate that feature in my plan. Is there anyway to bypass this or to get another app to do this .. like JoikuSpot ?
I need some serious help i have a lg incite love the phone hate the windows mobile can it be takin off and just have a regular phone like the view? if so please tell me in simple instructions.
Currently I'm not able to use a more advanced device than this Willcom WS011SH from 2007; it runs Win Mobile 6 Classic, lists below that CE OS 5.2.1433 (Build 17936.0.3.0) on 108Mb of memory.I devised a webpage for my ex- that translates often-used phrases into Japanese (since her bosses are Jpns), and IE was amazingly stunted in performance (e.g. can't drag/scroll), javacript, and css ... I read somewhere that IE Mobile 6 and 6.1 are just IE4 built into the hardware and called 6/6.1, and it's turned out to be nearly useless. Fortunately Opera 8.7 came with the phone, and that has saved this utility. However IE is the only program that will allow me to click an .mp3 link and launch a media player file; Opera can't keep up, and initiates downloading the file only, so while the utility works well in Opera, when the user wants to hear a phrase played back, it's tedious: she has to note the file name, press a few buttons to launch WMP, and find that clip in a list.
It seems IE mobile 7 and 8 weren't issued, and 9 ought to be advanced enough to run this utility, yet all the pages that claim to offer a download are vague and only point to other search sites, while news about IE mobile 9's performance are so vague and unspecific they remind of the machine-generated nonsense that I see now and then pretending to be tech articles.Any hint on if ie9 is real, and where it's available without charge? I found one site that offered it for payment, but we're pulling out of the Thailand flood of last year, and money won't be around for a while. Even though there are equivalent/better browsers out there, it seems IE is the only one that will launch the WMP, and I suspect any media player.
I got an application that needs to be installed on a phone that runs Windows Mobile 5 or 6. However, as far as i'm aware the Nokia X6 is running Symbian as it's OS.
Is there anyway the X6 can be made to run Windows Mobile?
I got an order status e-mail from AT&T yesterday that my order is moving forward. So far, that is. I am now contemplating all the fun things I can do to my old WinMo phone once the iPhone 4 arrives. Sorry to even say that word, winmo, here in the forums. I'm open to suggestion!
I have a blog post running on the topic as well.
http://addingapple.com/iphone-4-pre-order-with-att.html Screen shot of the order status is here too.
Prolly useless to be asking here, but does anyone have it?Yes it does exist. So don't go on that you know more then I.If you have it, and wish to make arrangements I am a private message away.
when i was searching the internet and i seen numerous people with these phones that were sprint Pro 2 phones unlocked to boost. Is there a guide where i can flash my phone so it can be used with my boost sim?
To be honest, one of the most important factors I've held on to Nokia all these years was because of offline maps, GPS and awesome voice navigation. And I've assumed this would carry on into the new Lumia 950 - while all the Samsung and iPhone folks in my car whine and wonder how I navigate without an internet connection.
However, I can not find a way to migrate my map favorites from my L920 to L950.
Btw, even the voice navigation on the L950 is done by a strange robotic female voice. How can I download a new voice/language like the good old days?
Just got my Lumia 950 XL. But I fail to restore my chat history of WhatsApp. In my old phone (930, WP 8.1), I chose Settings in Whatsapp > chats and call > BackupIn my new phone (950, Win10 Mobile), uninstalled and installed Whatsapp. Launched the app, verified my phone number with SMS and the app detected I had a backup and I chose "restore".I found that none of my previous messages was restored
how to migrate WhatsApp chat history (from WP 8.1 to Win10 Mobile)? I would like to know the procedure in details. Seems that Windows Phone native backup does not backup/restore WhatsApp chat history, and the backup/restore function of WhatsApp seems not working at all.
I like having the Facebook integration throughout the Lumia 950 xl, except for the birthdays in my calendar which, with hundreds of Facebook birthdays, clutters up my calendar. It looks like the interaction is only on or off for the phone without any individual settings, any way to keep the Outlook calendar from including Facebook birthdays without having to delete them individually or shutting off the Facebook integration entirely?
Im using the 1520 and 1-2 times a day I have to restart my phone and "scan" my SD card because I get the message that I removed the card. It actually quite frustrating because it takes about 15 minutes to actually scan the SD card not to mention that I have to wait to reboot the phone.
I basically put all my movies, apps, and pictures on the card...using a 64GB Transcend PRO. I dont think the card is corrupt because I literally got it about 2 months ago.
I've done everything. Reinstalled it, uninstall with Revo, Followed the direction from microsoft using the device manage and deleting stuff -- Nada! It comes up but when I plug in the Omnia II it does not connect. I can get it to connect at home and my home machine is Windows7 64 bit, the one it won't connect to is also a Windows 7 64 bit but a different model of Gateway/ Is there a 3rd party product or does someone know what might be the problem.?
I got a Lumia 800 about two months ago. I did have a problem getting the Internet to work. It took me a day and some intense googling but I got it to work. It has worked fine.Day before yesterday, the Zune software(music player of the phone) stopped updating. I was instructed to reset my phone. Since then I have not been able to figure out to get the data working on my phone.I've tried several things. I've been in the apn settings many many times. I've tried it with apn:simple and everything else blank. I've tried it with apn:simple, proxy:216.155.165.050, port:8080I've tried it with apn:simple, proxy:216.155.165.50, port: 8080 (cust serv said use .50 over .050)I've tried it with apn:simple, proxy:216.155.165.50:8080 (auto populated port with 80 I've tried it with apn:simple, proxy:216.155.165.50:80, port:80 When I open the browser I get a 503 error code and androidapi.t-mobile.com/apppack.mvno.html.Twice it worked for 5 minutes.I know it is possible, I don't remember what I did two months ago. I want to say there was settings other than APN that made it work.
I'm trying to download my music but WP8 uses the Windows Phone App client in Windows 8. Wll, when I tried connecting my phone, it says "Your phone is having troubles" error message. The instruction says to power off the phone. But no luck. Tried searching MS community but nothing there (but I won't rule out I didn't search well. Also, I posted the same question there and waiting for a response.)
I have just purchased a Nokia 5130 XpressMusic mobile phone which came with music. I have previously had a similar phone which came with music which for the last year I have been using. That unlimited downloads has now expired. So I have plugged in my new phone, which I have not used to purcahse any music with through my old unlimited downloads, and it is saying:You can't use this mobile for Nokia Music Unlimited edition mobile. The phone is capable of playing music (it is an XpressMusic mobile). I have specifically gone and purchased this phone for the unlimited downloads and will not be very happy if I am unable to activate it.
The browser on my Nokia 701 is great -certainly much better than past versions- but websites 'see' it as a full size browser and so deliver it full size web pages. I have found this leads to much dragging and zooming. If the site also has pop-ups (which can fully obscure the screen!) this can lead to misclicks, impossible to navigate sites etc. Also full size webpages are slow to load and more expensive on data.
This issue has led me to either manually navigating to the mobile versions of the websites I like (bit of a pain) or to simply use the Opera Mini browser instead. The Opera browser is free and websites 'recognise' it as a mobile browser. This means without any work when I surf I instantly get the mobile version of the website I want (assuming one exists), easy to navigate and fast (and so cheaper) to load. In many cases this works much better for me.
So I think Nokia have missed a trick here. Maybe they should offer a feature whereby the user can tell their browser to find either mobile-friendly pages or normal ones. They could even add in a second browser shortcut, one which launches the Nokia browser in a 'mobile' mode.
Now running a 701, beautiful phone to handle and use...now that it has stopped sending my personal information to Nokia via 360Panel [rolls eyes]
I have BB Desktop Manager 5.0.1 and I am un able to syncronize my Contacts with Windows Live Mail from Windows 7. The only options the Desktop Manager offers are: Outlook Express, Importad./Exportad. ASCII adn Yahoo.
I tried to update my Nokia X3 with Nokia Software Updater. And after installing from 4.01 to V8.40, I lost "Windows Live Messenger" and "Ovi Contacts" . Can some one please tell me as how I can get these applications back. I love these applications and I was using them a lot.
