Oct 20, 2011I won a Nokia N8 at a conference this weekend. The Nokia people said it would work on either AT&T or T-mobile - does this mean the phone is "unlocked"?

Nokia Nseries :: 603 Unlocked Without Security Code?
Apr 28, 2012I've security code set on my 603, but somehow my 7 year son could get through (and he doesn't know the passcode). I had put it on charging on power plug. He somehow managed to get in. When my wife notice him fiddling up with the phone, it showed up message asking whether to initiate an emergency call. She took it away from my son, only to notice that it was reset to factory settings
Not sure how it would have happened. How in the heavens could he get past security code. I've my corporate email account set and it doesn't allow to turn security code off for that reason.
I could recover from 7 day old backup. Some sms are lost and all app need to be reinstalled now. Many standard app that came in bundled didn't come back after recovering from backup.

Mar 4, 2010So, I just bought a JB'en iphone 3g tonight.Went ahead and unlocked it using ultrasn0w.Connected it to my mac/itunes, and it asks "an iphone has been previously synced with this computer. setup as a new iphone -or- restore the backup of ***"So, since I had purchased apps using my *** phone (actually was an ipod touch that i got rid of), I'm thinking that I should restore the backup so that I can get my paid apps back for free.
Questions:
-will restoring this backup to the new unlocked phone restore it to its original locked state (i.e. will i have to re-jailbreak/unlock)? or will it simply restore preferences, etc...?
-otherwise, if i call this phone a new name, is there a way to transfer my purchased apps to the new phone's account?
Nokia :: New To Smartphone / E63 Unlocked
Jul 13, 2010I recently purchased a used E63 unlocked & I am using it with AT&T. I reset it when I got it & all is working in terms of voice/basic text. However, as it relates to checking email via hotmail, yahoo, etc, do I have to have a data plan for this? On my previous non-smart phone, this was included as part of the messaging plan but now I'm thinking it's going to need a data plan. Any thoughts on this? Any issues using data on e63/thoughts on how much it will cost?

Jan 29, 2010Knowing the right way to pose this question is probably harder than answering it.I want to use an ATT Nokia 6750 phone in Mexico with cell provider Telcel. I have to unlock the phone. No problem. Lots of places in town will do that for a fee. I also want to buy Telcel's 3G service and use it on the same phone. A possibly uninformed Telcel agent says it's impossible because the phone has ATT's software not Telcel's. I suspect he is wrong.
Will an unlocked ATT phone with a Telcel SIM successfully connect to a 3G network OR is there some Telcel software gatekeeper to prevent this? Do you suppose he is just talking about the Access Point configuration? Any ideas? Partial answers are often helpful it you don't have the full answer.
Nokia :: Transfering Files On Unlocked
Mar 25, 2010AI have a router, I have a nokia usb cable. and I have ovi suite. However it wont transfer music files unless I have a memory card inserted, I dont know what to do. I installed ovi files and transfered my custom ringtone that way and it worked but I'm looking for something simpler. Like actually navigating the phones folders and transfering it that way, be it any file, txt doc img, jpg mp3 mp4 ect. I tried using connect as "mass storage device" and connect as "media transfer" neither option works for me. I am running windows 7 professional 64 bit. The only way I was able to get my custom ringtone on the phone was installing and signing up for ovi files. I would like to use my usb cable or router exclusively in the future.

Apr 21, 2010This often happens when I unlock the touch screen (either by using the lock/unlock switch, or by slide out the keyboard). After the screen is lit, there pops up a window asking me to select a wifi network. If I press "cancel", it will do a wifi search again and asks me to select network again. This is quite annoying.I have Gmail, Web browser, facebook , and AccuWeather as "application shortcuts" on the main screen. I also have calendar, music player and wifi wizard as "widgets" on the main screen. As there is no widget that needs internet access, there is no option to "go to offline mode". I have also set "Show Wifi availability" to "Never".

Dec 9, 2012I have Lumia 810 from T-Mobile and unlocked it with a code, that was provided to me by T-Mobile/Nokia. Now trying to use this phone with another GSM carrier, makes me wonder, why would T-Mobile/Nokia disable the option to change/add apn settings? So only calls and sms would work on other sim cards! The internet and mms feature is blocked, because T-Mobile settings are hardcoded into the firmware! I have Lumia 710 which is also T-Mobile branded, but there is a button "add apn" under settings>cellular. I don't know t-mobile chose to do it or nokia, but please add the above option via OTA update, it is really needed!

I'm looking at buying the Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition Unlocked Phone and have a couple of questions.
If I don't activate the phone immediately with a service provider,
- will I still be able to have full access to the internet and email whenever a Wi-Fi network is available?
- and, will I also have full access to the GPS navigation facilities of the unit?
Does the 5800 Navigation model lack any features that are available with the 5800 XpressMusic model? The 'compare' function at the Nokia website seems to show the exact same specs for both models.

Apr 9, 2010After 8 months it finally went I'm on Vodafone via a contract and I got this Nokia 5800 as an upgrade I love it great piece of kit Music Player is great. On thursday morning thou it went all pear shaped, as I was in a shop I could feel the phone pulsing via the vibration I recieved no call or text it was doing small pulses from the vibration feature.
I whiped it out and unlocked it but the screen stayed blank for about 1min then it finally came on and went back into key lock by its self???. I unlocked it again and the screen came on/off then finally on it had been doing it a few times in the past but not this bad.
I went to send a text and when I touched the screen to bring up the alpha keys it would not type anything it would show that I was hitting the keys but nothing was writing. I had to reboot the phone and it worked for 10mins, I took it into Vodafone and got it sent off to Nokia for repair I hope they repair it much better than what Sony Ericcson do last 2 phones from them have all failed to be fixed of there problems last 2yrs I had there mobiles. I went back to Nokia after 8yrs away because everyone now has a S.E, Samsung or iPhone.

It does not roam with my UK network (o2), nor will my AT&T sim card work in the phone (sim card registration failed).Any ideas? Feb 18, 2010I'd really be grateful to you if could help me out with this. I have got a locked Nokia N91. I went to a local mobile repair shop which claims to unlock branded phone. While it was being unlocked, the phone got some error for some unknown reason and now whenever I start my phone, all it says is ' phone start-up failed, contact the retailer' the repairer says the phone's IMEI is damaged which I have confirmed from various repair shops and would need some RPL file (which I haven't got any idea about) and since Nokia servers are down its not possible right now, he tells me to wait for a bit before the servers are up on the run again. I have no idea if its even true. All I want to know is Can My Phone really be Repaired? And if Yes whats the Criteria for doing so? And if i take my phone to Nokia repair shop. I am afraid they would not fix it since they haven't got a license to unlock branded phones.

Haven't tested NFC yet) at random times and I can't reconnect. It always says after that it can't connect and the connections are unavailable.After turning the phone off and then on again, everything is back to normal. I can normally connect to the 3G connection, Wi-Fi and USB.It's pretty annoying as I always have to restart my phone in order to connect via USB or to the Internet when it happens.Anyone else who is experiencing the same problem or has any solutions to this?

I've tried the new Headset on another phone and no problems, even my computer pairs with it so it's my N8 for sure.

Nov 14, 2012i'm using a nokia n8 phone and i used to keep a copy of my photos and videos on my pc using nokia suite, i just clicked on the gallery sync. button and it was done.i recently bought a new memory card and i started downloading videos by the (Internet downloader) app. i have now like 7gb of videos on my memory card.the problem is that now every time i try to sync. the gallery, nokia suite makes a copy of all downloaded videos on my computer. is it possible to set nokia suite to sync. only the photos and the videos taken by the camera and ignore the downloaded videos?
