I have a N82 that have a problem with Ovi Maps. Once I try to access the menu:
Options -> Tools -> Settings -> Navigation then Ovi Maps crash and exits.
I had this problem with earlier versions of Maps aswell, and I am really interested to fix this.
I noticed many times that with one web page open if I minimize the browser and use other apps and the home screen and use the browser shorcut to get back the browser appears to have closed/crashed the page I had open and it opens up a fresh browser.

View 9 Replies View Relatedi've tried installing the updated ovi maps 3.04 several times now and each time i launch the app it will cause the screen to fade, then i get red, blue and green lines, then the phone reboots. i initially did the upgrade from 3.03, that version worked great, and as soon as it finished and i launched the app is crashed the phone. rebooted a few times and same thing, did a soft reset and same thing. then i completely wiped the phone, formatted the storage, hard reset, installed my must have apps like mfe, joikuspot premium, opera mobile, nimbuzz, facebook and Internet, then installed ovi maps............same thing. so now i'm going to do it all over again and install the maps first, then start installing apps one by one. i'm sure it's an incompatibility between ovi maps 3.04 and one of my apps. i'm not sure why though because 3.03 worked just fine with even more apps installed, and it's not like any of the apps i installed were betas. well after some additional testing i've narrowed the problem down to an incompatibility between ovi maps 3.04 and the current version of joikuspot premium downloaded from their website. i wiped the phone, installed the new version of ovi maps, and the app functioned as expected. i then downloaded and installed the current version of joikuspot premium directly from their website, registered it, launched it, then shut it down. then i tried launching ovi maps again. the application came up but after 5 to 10 seconds i got color streaks across the screen then the phone rebooted. i continued to do this each time i tried to launch the app. then i uninstalled joikuspot, rebooted, and launched ovi maps and it worked just fine. i then tried installing some of my other apps i use like opera mobile, mfe, nimbuzz. all those functioned just fine and ovi maps continued to work. i then reinstalled joikuspot, rebooted, registered, etc.... and ovi maps started crashing again. then again i uninstalled joikuspot, rebooted, and ovi maps started working again.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSince Ovi updated the maps I've had trouble using it. I have version 40 firmware which was installed by Vodafone when my device expired. Despite the update, Ovi maps just crashes the phone when I try to use it. The screen goes blank and I get all coloured lines flashing down one side and the phone reluctantly restarts.
View 5 Replies View RelatedEarlier I was using a licensed version of Nokia Mpas but never faced this problem. Since the free navigation has become available for E71, I've started facing this problem. I did a hard reset, deleted "Cities" folder and just installed Maps, but error persists.
When I go to OVI Mpas tio download it, the file that I get is "Nokia maps." I know that Nokia and Ovi Maps are one and the same thing, but soem posts on this forum sugegst that they might be different.
After upgrading to 3.03, the Map app closes after 10 seconds. It might work but. Tried installing again via PC download, no change.

Open Ovi Maps, see the main page, click on My Location the map appears a message about connecting might cost you something and the Ovi Maps disappears. View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been using Ovi Maps 3.03 since it came out on my E55 and I generally prefer it over my TomTom. There are however a couple of problems with it - one major, the other minor.The big problem is that it occasionally crashes; the application exits and I'm left with the menu screen. This is more than a nuisance when driving, as it takes a lot of button pressing to get back to the route. The problem seems to have started (hard to tell, as it only happens occasionally) when I used Map Loader for the first time and followed the instructions to reinstall the application, apparently with the same version. I have since uninstalled that copy and returned to the version I originally downloaded, but it hasn't made a difference.Is this a common problem? I don't suppose voice commands work with Maps, do they?The other problem is that the screensaver kicks in after 30-90 seconds - the screen goes dark - except when a route is set. Is there any way to disable this?

Each time I start Ovi Maps it crashes after around 0.5-5 minutes. No other applications are launched in parallel. I have tried to play switching on and off different positioning methods All the same, it crashes with any combination I have tried. Even if I switch off all the methods except built-in GPS, it crashes. I have restored the factory settings and reinstalled the OS. Before installing some applications, I have tried to start Ovi Maps - it crashes all the same.It crashes in a strange way. It first freezes. Then in around 10 seconds the screen goes dark, then fully white and then the phone restarts. But it does not restart from the very beginning, as it does when you switch the phone off and switch it again (it shakes, then it asks SIM pin, then lock code). Instead, after Ovi Maps crash and the white screen, it shows the white screen with "nokia" on it (no pin codes are asked), then comes the desktop screen, no applications are running at this point yet, it does not react on the touch screen, no connection to the cell network. Then it starts to revive, connects to the GSM network, starts to react on the toch screen, on the button, refreshes the desktop, etc.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMaps 3.01 crashes for me whenever I select the "Synchronise with Ovi" option. I recently upgraded the firmware in my Nokia 6220c from 3.23 to 5.15. At first I could not install Maps 3.01 through maps updater on my PC but user OviKovi kindly posted the sis file and maps, in another thread, which I installed manually on my phone. That allowed me to run Maps 3.01. The only issue I have now is that I cannot synchronise with online Ovi Maps because the phone application crashes.
When I had firmware 3.23 installed with Maps 3.01 I could synchronise. Now I can't.
I'm having problems with my X6. When I start the ovi maps app, the phone just crashes! The screen goes black en the phone starts up again.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy husband got his Tour yesterday and it was technically used for a day but is esentially considered new. He was playing with his phone last night and he notices when he goes to a certain menu the trackball messes up but if he exits out it's fine it's just the one menu. I told him to take it back to the store and let them know but the blackberry guy wasn't in so we have to wait. We have a 30 day in-store warranty but they said trackball issues they'll just repair and send it back to him themselves.

I thought that downloading a map of a country would enable one to see 3D buildings and such, if that is the case then how does one view the map? Is there a way to "load" it up from your phone? View 7 Replies View RelatedI can't think of a good reason why Ovi Maps has to be installed on the phone memory. In fact I don't see any reason why any application other than the firmware would need to install on the phone memory. I keep running into memory low issues because I only have 5 MG free on my phone memory, without Ovi Maps I can have up to 27 MG. Am not sure what Nokia is thinking but why can't I install Ovi Maps on the extended memory? I delete the browser cache frequently. I have my mails stored on the extended memory, I always delete temprorary installation files, and still the maximum I can get is 5 MG. Also why I can't uninstall quickoffice? I am aware of some of the memory tips which has been discussed in some forum but it didn't really help me. I am guessing my ultimate solution is to just uninstall Ovi Maps. I like to know anyone here have the same problem.

Overall very happy. Does Drive have turn by turn navigation wih specific names and exits? Right now it only says stuff like "turn now".
I have had my 5230 since Dec and have tried to use the maps but with no success. I have followed numerous instructions fron these forums again with no success.My prob is that when i attempt to use the Ovimap, I get to the main menu and press Position the map shows for a couple of minutes, yellow bar at bottom blinks then phone restarts.Any help would be great.

I know we can't remove the maps v3.08 from our phone(mine nokia c7) itself because it is not showing in apps manager.But i found out an alternate way.I have not yet tried it ,but u can see if it works and tell us about it.For this use the "Nokia PC Suite v 7.1.62.1" and not nokia ovi suite on ur pc.If u go to application manager in the pc suite it shows all the apps installed including the nokia maps 3.08 and its other files also.

My VZW Galaxy Note 5 and VZW LG G4 have identical Google Maps version: 9.17.1 (#917101224)
However, the Note 5 was able to start using true offline maps/navigation/search while in airplane mode since yesterday.(provided that I downloaded the offline for the city first)
1- I have installed PC SUIT suitable for nokia N900
2- Also installed nokia map loader version 3.0
Now all is fine. Isn't it? So they said first start nokia map application till it load completely then close it. I did. Then connect ur phone on PC SUIT MODE and also I did that. Then all I get on nokia map loader app is "Waiting for the phone" thats it and phone already connected I tried in both modes pc suit and mass storage but still the same "Waiting for the phone" and I am waiting too.
I've got a 5800. Does anyone know how to delete collections that have been added in Ovi Maps?(Without using Ovi on the PC).
