Within the music player on a 5800XM, how can I control the ordering of podcasts when using the Podcasts->By Title search option with the music player...? What this currently does is orders these is the newest first order, where as if you a listening to a radio drama (like me, who listens to the Archers approx twice a week)
you want these to be in the oldest first order!
I have just installed the Media Go s/w for my new Experia phone (as I want to use it to play podcasts to replace my aging Zune) Trouble is when I ran the set up of Media Go, it found all my music and podcasts but sees them ALL as music (and has put nothing into the Podcasts menu (LHS panel) and found a way to make them go to the right place?
Also, when I almost gave up and tried to just set them all up again by subscribing to them insode Media Go, the choice is REALLY limited, so is no use either.
I used to download several podcasts directly to my iPhone 4S each morning through iTunes and play them using the iPhone music player later in the day. Last week I noticed the download icons in iTunes changed (software update maybe?). The podcasts still download in iTunes but they no longer appear in the music player app (the old episodes are still there in the podcast menu). I can still play the new podcasts in iTunes but it does not automatically go to the next file when one ends like the music player does. This is annoying when listening to multiple shorter files. Also, I am concerned iTunes will not play the episodes if it can't connect to the server. Tested this out in airplane mode and it would not even let me access the iTunes podcasts despite supposedly being "downloaded". My mobile reception is poor in the office and there are times accessing iTunes is very slow or impossible.There are also times when I listen to them while in the car on trips through areas with little or no mobile data service.
TL;DR: iTunes podcast downloads used to show up in iPhone music player. Now they don't.

There isn't a specific forum for this in the iOS Apps category so I am putting it here.I just downloaded the new Apple Podcasts app to my iPhone 4S.[URL]I have figured out how to find and subscribe to the podcasts I normally listen to but I am not sure how to get the podcasts to download over wifi so I can listen to them later.Don't want to burn up my data plan streaming podcasts when I'm on the road.The description says that you can do this, "Stream episodes or download to listen while offline" but I am not sure if it is happening.There is no visual clue to let me know that the casts are downloading or not.Do I just need to be patient? Or am I doing something wrong.

I subscribe to six podcasts in iTunes.
When I sync to my iPhone, four of these appear in iTunes>Podcasts and the other two appear in Videos>Podcasts.
(a) Why don't they all appear in the same place?
(b) How can I make them all appear in the same place?

I got a new, shiny Nokia 5730 XM two days ago and there have been no other problems with it other than the Music Player. Everytime i go on the music player, it automatically searches for Music and Podcasts. It searches for so long (10 mins) that I go and hit the red 'end call' button to end the app with it still in the background. And when I go back to the music player, it freezes.

The HTC Music app has a dropdown for 'Podcasts' but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get any on there and showing in this section. I CAN get podasts using DoubleTwist or other software, but not the HTC Music app itself. But why would they have a Podcast drop-down section if you cannot add them?

Noticed short pauses or gaps in sound when playing back any sort of sound file? I'm using Bluetooth headsets of various types like jaybirds, Jabra solemate or jawbone jambox.
I'm using PocketCasts and the media is on the phone for that. Also using doubletwist and it's media is on SD.
Took me a long time to notice it because some podcasts aren't the greatest quality. Thing is if I rewind and replay that section it usually plays fine meaning the phone did something wrong.
After iOS 5 update, the Music app on iphone no longer displays the time remaining for podcasts. Is there a setting to restore this feature?

It isn't 100% consistent, it's about 50% consistent, but, if I plug my Atrix HD into a computer with the USB cable (which I have to do quite often since the battery isn't long-lasting), playing audio stutters about every 15 to 30 seconds. Sometimes the pause/stutter can be for 2 or 3 seconds. However, mostly it's probably only 1/2 second. Regardless, it's disconcerting to listen to music or a podcast and have it pause every few seconds.

View 20 Replies View RelatedThe other day I was listening to a partically downloaded podcast (poor service) on my 4S when suddenly the sound stopped (external speakers). I assumed it had come to the end of what had downloaded so far but now any music and podcasts I listen to are muffled (like they have too much bass) and they stop and start when I use the external speakers. The sound quality before was so good! Playback is fine when I use the headphone jack. I installed all updates and restored the phone, but to no avail.

I would like to download podcasts onto my phone when at home (set time) and then listen to them later when away from a data connection. There seams to be a number of possible ways of doing this on the N97 and I don't know which is the correct way. I have only managed it successfully once. My main problem is finding where the file has been saved. I would like to download the BBC Chris Moyles weekly round up. There is an enhanced version (with pictures) which I have not managed to get working on my phone. Does anyone have that working on an N97? Can I download the radio show from iPlayer to my phone and play later?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have upgraded the firmware from v31.0.101 to v50.0.005 and I had the unpleasent surprise to find that the music player is no longer working. It plays only the files stored in the phone memory and is unable to update the library. It shows music files on the memory card that were deleted longtime ago and refresh library does not change anything: always shows refresh complete 0 files added. When I connect the phone to the PC, the Ovi Player doesn't see the phone and even the device manager shows that there is a problem with the portable device (conneced in PC Suite or Media Transfer modes). Done even a hard reset but nothing has changed except that it has lost the applications it had in the phone memory.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 5800 and recently wanted to play a song. When I started the player, I got an error - something to do with the music library being corrupted. I left it to try and sort the problem for a while and then pressed STOP. When I tried later, the library was empty.I have upgraded the Music player but that also did not help. I removed the memory card where the MUSIC diretory is located and re-installed it. I have also re-booted the phone several times.From my PC I can see the directroy with all my music. All attempts to REFRESH the library on the phone fail with a message saying that 0 songs have been added. I have left it for long periods of time but still have no songs.If I locate a song with the file manager I can play it.Is there some way to delete/reset the library database and force it to re-create it?

I can use the phone by pressing the Red button but still the player doesn't work. This was not happening when handset was new. What is wrong with my cell? View 4 Replies View RelatedI had many reasons to buy the 5800 but one of them was the music player. I listen to it in the gym using BT headphones. Frankly I'm amazed I never see anyone else with BT headphones but that's a different topic. Best music technology ever
The problem is that despite this being an Xpressmusic device the music player is a bit marginal, IMO. The thing I miss most compared to regular mp3 players is the capability to remember where it was stopped the last time. You're listening to a playlist and you turn of the player when you go home. Next time you turn on the player you want it to pick up where it was and continue with the same song in the same location in the same playlist. You could say you could remember where you stopped but that's silly. What if you had a long podcast or audio book? Wouldn't it make sense to continue where you stopped?
I realize I can pause the player and keep it running in the background but that means I can't power of my phone, right? I've looked at two alternative players and they don't seem to support this most basic feature either. Why? Doesn't anyone take phones seriously as mp3 replacements? I hope Nokia reads this and considers sneaking in this minor feature in the next 5800 update or as an Ovi download.
