Nokia :: 2730 Does Not Allow To Use Socket Connection
Jul 11, 2010
I recently bought a Nokia 2730 Classic, but I am not able to browse internet on this phone through the Socket connection, like how the other Nokia 2330 Classic can do.For the Nokia 2330 Classic, I need just put the SIM into it and start the phone, then go to the configuration and just select Internet APN as the Access Point and the phone will work fine with Opera Mini and other Java applications like Ebuddy, Bolt Browser etc through "socket" connection", without the need to request the internet settings from my operator through SMS.
But in the Nokia 2730 Classic when I put the same SIM into this phone and Select the same Internet APN as the Access point, I am not able to browse the internet on Opera Mini and I have to send SMS to my operator to get the settings.
The main problem here is that even after saving the internet Settings of my operator on the Nokia 2730 Classic, the internet does not work on in the Socket Connection, hence Opera Mini 4.2 and 5.1 (and other java applications which need the socket connection) will not install or work. (although the internet will work on the default browser of the phone)I am also able to connect the Nokia 2730 Classic to the computer and browse the internet through Data Cable / Bluetooth normally.I tried with another operator using an internet data plan, but got the same results.
Can someone please tell me how to adjust the settings correctly so that the Nokia 2730 will work on the Socket connection so that I can browse on Opera Mini 5.1 and 4.2 and other Java browsers and applications which work only on the Socket connection?Another strange issue is that after trying to use the internet on the Nokia 2730 (without any positive results), when I put the same SIM back into the Nokia 2330, the internet does not work for some hours on the socket connection and I have to use the http connection till then. Quite strange.
I have a nokia 2730c and it shows 1 unread msg icon yet there is no new message in my inbox..i have tried looking for sim messages but there are also none..there are no incoming sms and my inbox is still not full. Just bought a Nokia 5030. It's new and there isn't much information about it on the internet. I have seen a socket situated between the headset connector and the charger connector. It looks like a tiny small USB or something alike. I'd like to connect to it and see what comes out, and if I can input anything (music etc. I know there's only 8MB but still). Where can I get the cable? I'm curious about electronic in general, and would be happy to dig into the device.
I can charge my C5-03 with the Nokia AC-8 charger (included in the package. I can charge my C5-03 via USB form my PC desktop using the provided Nokia CA-101D data cable.I wasn't able, though, to charge my C5-03 using this Nokia CA-101D data cable plugged directly to a wall USB power adapter or to a car USB power adapter. I was able to get power using the same cable configuration to a wide list of devices that do support power via USB.
I've got a brain new 2730 and I can't setup the emai. My provider is using self signed CA certificate, so I can't connect to the IMAP server, because the certificate. Do you have any suggestions how to import the certificate ?

I want to know whether the Nokia 2730 will work abroad? Because I'm going to Corsica (South France) in about a month and I will need to be able to use the internet as well as text and make phone calls. Also does it depend on the Network Provider?
I'm in the market for a new phone, and I like the looks of the 2730. I know its basic but right now I don't need a smartphone. It reminds me of the 6700 Classic, but I'm sure the quality can't be as good. (I haven't tried either one, only read some reviews online). How is the reception quality of the 2730? Also curious about the build quality, too.Does it feel cheap?

Have just purchased a Nokia 2730 Classic, and using my T-Mobile contract sim in it.When sending texts I can not find how to access the smileys? Graphical Smileys are on cos it says Yes in, Messaging, Message Settings, General Settings, Graphical Smileys.I thought you just had to go to the *+ key and hold that down to get to the punctuations, and then press it again to get to the smileys, like on other nokias, but they are not there? Do I need to press something else, or switch something else on somewhere on the phone? The smileys worked with this sim until this morning in my old phone, so it cant be a network or sim problem. I have read through the user manual but it didnt solve this.
I am a Brit based in Germany, and I would like to listen to Radio 5, Talksport, etc, on my 2730 whilst at work. Doing so on my work PC is not allowed.
Although I can access the radio station websites, I obviously now need to load some sort of basic windows media player to get streaming and sound. I tried loading Windows Media 9, for example, but get a "file format" not supported/not recognised.
So, please may I ask, how do I play Radio 5, Talksport, etc?
My aunt who lives in Costa Rica wants me to find her a Nokia phone to replace her old one that doesn't work anymore. I researched the internet and found that the Nokia 2730 Classic will work in Costa Rica. She asked for GSM / Quad band and it seems like this phone has both GSM and CDMA and is a quad band phone. Can someone please confirm that this phone will work in CR?
I recently purchased a Nokia 2730 in the UK. It was fitted with a pre-paid "3" network SIM card at the time of purchase. When our holiday was over I brought the phone back with me to Australia. I was told in the UK that this phone would work in Australia provided I fitted an Australian "3" network SIM card. Today, the new SIM card was fitted here in Australia but the phone still doesn't work. Any ideas would be very welcome - before I throw the phone in the garbage.

I am using the Nokia 2730 Classic G3 phone. When some one calls me at my phone, my phone will ring according to the setting of ringtone. While my phone is ringint, the caller will hear a specific ring sound for this phone. What determines this caller ringing sound? Can I change this caller ringing sound?
Since then I've had some problems with the messaging. Every time I go claim the warranty, however, the error disappears This is what happens.I'm messaging on my mobile and sending and receiving messages normally.I open a message and go to reply. While in the editor, a message is received.I finish off my reply and send it.When I return to my inbox, however to check the new message, it's not there and the icon for message is adamant. Moreover, there is some old message at the start of the inbox (as 1st message) which is some deleted message of a long time ago. (This message is constant. It's some kind of a picture message I received from a friend and it was of a format my mobile did not recognise, so I deleted it. I can't understand how it keeps coming back. There are two such messages.)I turn off the power and turn it back on in a few seconds.I go back to inbox and there is the new message. This has been going on for a long time and now even the warranty is at an end.
My phone is Nokia 2730 classic and I have this software: PC Connectivity Solution: Version 9.44.0.3 Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver: Version 7.1.23.0 Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP 32-bit Edition, Service Pack 3 Language: eesti Language for non-Unicode programs: Eesti Detected Internet browsers: - Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.0 (Default browser) - Mozilla Firefox 3.5 Detected Bluetooth stacks: - Microsoft (Version: 5.1.2600, Build: 5512)
The problem is that I cant use my phone as an internet modem via bluetooth with Microsoft bluetooth stack (everything else works). I tried the BlueSoleil 6.4.299.0 driver and it works fine but I do not want to pay extra 19.95 euros for the driver.
We are using Nokia 2730 Classic (runing on S40?).We seek ringtone video file with very loud telephone ringing and bright flashing lights. Can you please tell us where to download this?
In my Nokia 2730 classic phone > Configuration > Personal configuration settings > Add new > My web. In this, when I disable "Use preferred access point", I get to manually adjust the access point settings. There are some confusing options here : 1. Data Bearer > GSM Data or Packet Data 2. Bearer settings > Dial up number Data call type > ISDN or analogue Data call Speed : 9600, 14400, 19200, 28800, 38400, 43200
