Motorola :: Why Xoom Is Not Getting Android 3.2.1 Update
Sep 26, 2011
im wondering why my Xoom is not getting the Android 3.2.1 update. im still at 3.1... an update which i got very late.i went to my local Best Buy store and their display Xoom, has the .2.1 version.what can i do to get the updates????
i have a xoom 32gb wifi only device that i purchased from woot.com and i received the update notice to 3.1 today. i have downloaded and attempted to install three times now, each attempt has failed? see image for error
Trying to install Android update HTK55D via bluetooth connection with Motorola Photon. Update screen comes up and starts - download button is "greyed out" - but nothing else happens. Have let it go all night with no results... Have rebooted and get same results... Am on the road with no other internet connection available.
I have a brand new Xoom with Android 3.2, but the version of Android Market is only 1.0.28. It does not 'automatically update. I would like to update it so I can add a pin to stop my kids from purchasing things! Which is apparently available in the latest version (3 or so).
Have seen posts from folks who received this OTA update for their Xoom Wi-fi tablets. As of 30 October, no update info on my tablet. Is the rollout of this update still underway?
The Flash 10.2 app just updated but says that it requires Android 3.0 to update. I thought that Honeycomb was Android 3.0 so I'm confused. what this update is supposed to actually do when functional?
have a Xoom that is consistently force closing the browser when I visit certain javascript animation sites, including our own web site with animations.(Animations built using jquery 1.4.4 but tested on 1.6.1 as well.) These sites did not cause force closes previous to the Android 3.1 update. The issues are also occuring for our customers with Xoom tablets recently updated to Android 3.1.An example site that crashes:http://css-tricks.com/revealing-photo-slider/Also, we found that if we follow the instructions here for turning off OpenGL (hardware acceleration) support in the browser,http://www.intech-bb.com/how-to-improve-asus-eee-pad-transformer-browser-speed/the force closes do not occur and javascript animations are in fact smoother and better than before!! However, Adobe Flash support is also lost if OpenGL is disabled.
anybody installed the slingbox app for android and is it optimized for a large tablet and does it work ?dont want to spend a lot of money on an app that doesn't work properly?
how to get Android Honeycomb updates installed onto my Xoom (WiFi)? I've had is since April 2011 and i'm stuck on version 3.0.1. No matter how many times I check for updates, I never get any! Getting really frustrated now about it. I'm based in the UK and the device is a UK device.
While there are already a few discussions for note taking apps where OneNote is mentioned, i thought this deserved it's own title. MS finally released a working Android app which syncs with Skydrive and gives you full edit ability of OneNote content. I could not find it on the market but it is available here: [URL]
If that link gets cutout, go to the android market under a web browser and search for onenote. So far, it's working on the Xoom LTE without any issues.
Has anyone else received an OTA to Android 4.1.2 for their Xoom Wifi only? I got the update on Friday but did not receive an invite to a soak test so I believe that this update was an update to all US Xoom WiFi tablets.
I have a 22" TV monitor which by e.g. a USB memory stick loaded with e.g. avi files, can show a film. On my Xoom I can (re)play Swedish TV programs via the Android app SVT Play (https://market.android.com/details?se.svt.svti.android.newstuff.svtplay&feature=search_result#?W251bGwsMSwyLDEsInNlLnN2dC5zdnRpLmFuZHJvaWQubmV3c3R1ZmYuc3Z0cGxheSJd). Is it possible to transfer what I see on my Xoom to my 22" TV monitor. If yes, howto?
I have just updated my xoom to Android 3.2 and installed Flash 11.When I go to Android Market it still does not show me BBC IPlayer - I am guessing that my Market App is not aware of my new found Flash.BTW- I can browse to BBC IPlayer and it works fine.Am I correct in thinking that the Market App has to to be aware of the functionality of the tablet and filters accordingly? Is it possible to uninstall & re-install the Market App - The only options appear to be "Force Stop" & "Clear Data" ; these seem a bit brutal!
I use a Mac (OSX 10.5.8) at work and would like to be able to tranfer some files to my Xoom. I didn't try it until after the ICS update, but whenever I plug in my Xoom, the Android File Transfer program pops up, then crashes. I've tried restarting both the Xoom and my Mac multiple times. Does anybody have any ideas to make it work?
will the xoom be recieving ice cream sandwich (android 4.0)?also can motorola or any other forum users / moderators say what will be implemented into the new operating system.so far all i know is that it will bring all android devices on to the same operating firmware, like Apples ios.
I own a new OTG cable and I'm trying to test it with a pendrive and with a Sony DSC-W200 camera, but both fail. USB storage doesn't appears on Motorola XOOM. Does USB Host mode works with Android 3.1
I have the Wifi only Xoom. I can open the android Market but when I go to my installed applications the Market force closes everytime. I have tried clearing the cache, clearing data, and force stopping the application and still no luck. I went as far as doing a factory reset and I still am unable to view installed applications.
I bought the device few days ago and on very same day updated to Android ver. 3.2. I use internet over my home Wifi and have a Netgear - WGR614 router. The browsing speed is very very slow and most sites dont open. The signal strength shown in xoom is - (-105 dBm 3 asu).Is this a issue with Android 3.2 update or my home wifi is weak? Would i be able to reset the tab to the original version?
On april 16 i bought a new xom wifi from staples. everything seems to work well but when i try to download tablet applications from the android market it gets stuck on "waiting to install" or shows download activity but never downloads. Also why is there no status bar on download?
I am using Motorola xoom with Android 3.1. I am facing a problem with gtalk and that is:
The gtalk remains online while i am using xoom but then after standby time my status goes to idle for the friends in my contact list and if they send me any message in this state I cant receive them and if they try to call me then the caller party hears the bell that as if it should be while someone calls on gtalk but i cant get the notification of call or any ring. Why Gtalk cant get calls on my xoom although it seems online to others in standby mode......is it some bug in android?
With recent changes in the market for Android tablets, it appears there is speculation that Intel may be positioning tablets based on the Atom processor. While Honeycomb has not been fully adapted to the Atom, Intel demoed an Atom driven Android tablet in Bejing this week. Here is some of the article's key content:"So, with tablets based on chips from companies like Nvidia (Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab) and Texas Instruments (PlayBook) not likely flying off the shelf, are Intel's chances any better now? "The door to this market is open. The longer it takes for these other products to get rolling, the more opportunity there is for Intel," said Richard Shim, an analyst at DisplaySearch.
And others see an opening for the world's largest chipmaker. "Though Apple has set the bar, it's not going to be alone in this space. Right now it looks like Android will have the majority of tablet sales(outside of Apple), and Intel has a dedicated team of people to make Android work the best it can on its Atom chips. They have a lot of resources they can apply," said Jack Gold of consulting firm J.Gold Associates, who wrote about this yesterday. And Intel, despite its unimpressive start, has another advantage. Atom is not just another cookie-cutter design from U.K.-based ARM. Intel can bring to bear all of its manufacturing, security, and media processing know-how, according to Gold, who believes it will continue to whittle away successfully at the inherent power-efficiency advantage of ARM chips. "My take is that Intel can capture 20 to 25 percent of that remaining market outside of Apple."
Shim has a few words of caution, however. "It all depends, of course, how well Honeycomb (Android 3.0) runs on Atom," said Shim. "That's a big if." And Shim also warns Intel not to put too many eggs in the MeeGo basket, which is a hard sell to developers in a field crowded with Hewlett-Packard's WebOS and RIM's QNX, in addition to Android." url...What do you think about the possibility of Intel Atom competing with the Tegra 2 processor for Android tablet marketshare? If Google has to support mutliple tablet processors with Honeycomb and eventually Ice cream, will that create more bottlenecks or opportunities and options?
I prefer to hide my wireless SSID but when I do this my android devices don't see the network. Even if I am already connected with my Xoom then switch to hidden SSID mode the Xoom disconnects. Same for my HTC Thunderbolt. My network is shown in the list of remembered networks as out of range. When in hidden mode. This does not affect my laptops.
They stay connected if I switch to hidden mode and they have a setting to connect to hidden networks that have previously been configured. I cannot find a setting for hidden network support on either android device. Hiding the SSID is not a new concept. Is this not supported in the android network stack? I have a strong random PW on my wifi so I am not terribly worried about it but I would be nice to have the option.
