Motorola Xoom :: When Go To Android Market It Still Does Not Show BBC IPlayer
Nov 4, 2011
I have just updated my xoom to Android 3.2 and installed Flash 11.When I go to Android Market it still does not show me BBC IPlayer - I am guessing that my Market App is not aware of my new found Flash.BTW- I can browse to BBC IPlayer and it works fine.Am I correct in thinking that the Market App has to to be aware of the functionality of the tablet and filters accordingly? Is it possible to uninstall & re-install the Market App - The only options appear to be "Force Stop" & "Clear Data" ; these seem a bit brutal!
I have a brand new Xoom with Android 3.2, but the version of Android Market is only 1.0.28. It does not 'automatically update. I would like to update it so I can add a pin to stop my kids from purchasing things! Which is apparently available in the latest version (3 or so).
I have the Wifi only Xoom. I can open the android Market but when I go to my installed applications the Market force closes everytime. I have tried clearing the cache, clearing data, and force stopping the application and still no luck. I went as far as doing a factory reset and I still am unable to view installed applications.
On april 16 i bought a new xom wifi from staples. everything seems to work well but when i try to download tablet applications from the android market it gets stuck on "waiting to install" or shows download activity but never downloads. Also why is there no status bar on download?
With recent changes in the market for Android tablets, it appears there is speculation that Intel may be positioning tablets based on the Atom processor. While Honeycomb has not been fully adapted to the Atom, Intel demoed an Atom driven Android tablet in Bejing this week. Here is some of the article's key content:"So, with tablets based on chips from companies like Nvidia (Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab) and Texas Instruments (PlayBook) not likely flying off the shelf, are Intel's chances any better now? "The door to this market is open. The longer it takes for these other products to get rolling, the more opportunity there is for Intel," said Richard Shim, an analyst at DisplaySearch.
And others see an opening for the world's largest chipmaker. "Though Apple has set the bar, it's not going to be alone in this space. Right now it looks like Android will have the majority of tablet sales(outside of Apple), and Intel has a dedicated team of people to make Android work the best it can on its Atom chips. They have a lot of resources they can apply," said Jack Gold of consulting firm J.Gold Associates, who wrote about this yesterday. And Intel, despite its unimpressive start, has another advantage. Atom is not just another cookie-cutter design from U.K.-based ARM. Intel can bring to bear all of its manufacturing, security, and media processing know-how, according to Gold, who believes it will continue to whittle away successfully at the inherent power-efficiency advantage of ARM chips. "My take is that Intel can capture 20 to 25 percent of that remaining market outside of Apple."
Shim has a few words of caution, however. "It all depends, of course, how well Honeycomb (Android 3.0) runs on Atom," said Shim. "That's a big if." And Shim also warns Intel not to put too many eggs in the MeeGo basket, which is a hard sell to developers in a field crowded with Hewlett-Packard's WebOS and RIM's QNX, in addition to Android." url...What do you think about the possibility of Intel Atom competing with the Tegra 2 processor for Android tablet marketshare? If Google has to support mutliple tablet processors with Honeycomb and eventually Ice cream, will that create more bottlenecks or opportunities and options?
I found my xoom honeycomb market is different than my smartphone motorola milestone (froyo)for exam:on milestone market I cant found app Skype, but on Xoom I can found app Skype on xoom I cant found Yahoo messenger, on milestone I can found Yahoo messenger why or because I live in Indonesia so different market?
This just started today. I can't get into the Market app on my XOOM 3G VZW. It only pops up a dialog saying:"Authentication required. Pleas log into your Google account."with an "ok" button.I've tried everything I can think of:restarted the XOOMTried using both wi-fi and 3G connectionsused the browser to verify my Google account appears on the search headerOpened the Gmail app and done a refreshForce-stopped the Market appcleared it's dataensured I can still access the markt using my Droid 1.tried accessing both from my home screen shortcut and from the Apps pageThe version showing in the Manage Applications page is 1.0.27Oh, while I can't go into the market from it's application icon. I did notice that several applications updated in the background, and from the "Updates Available" notification, I was able to go to the "My Apps" part of the Market app.
Ok after some trial and error i am now able to view content on the bbc iplayer in its correct format but its a bit fidly, here is what you need to do:Firstly in your stock browser type about:debug to enable enhanced menu's. Navigate to settings, debug and UAString and change this to iPad BEFORE launching bbc.Now launch BBC/iPlayer, it will come uo slightly formatted for the ipad screen but looks tons better than the mobile version. You will not be able to play videos fro here... go back into settings, debug and change UACString to Desktop then refresh the screen and voila you have the desktop version of BBC iPlayer. My guess is the initial brower check that the bbc do incorectly identifies the device when in desktop mode and tne android page/mobile is just pants. Too many companies in bed with Apple which is why they sucessfully dominate the tablet market.
I wasnt able to start the market app for 5 days on the phone because the account that was tied to my Milestone was deleted from my Google Apps domain. You have to wait 5 days to reinstate an account with the same name.
So... 5 days later, I can bring up the market app, and search, but when I try to download I get a generic "Download of xxxxxxxx was unsuccessful, try again later". Anyone else having issues? Anyone have any ideas? From what I can tell everything else seems to be ok. I can get mail from my domain account and my gmail account as well as my exchange account.
I get this error with wifi on, wifi off, free apps, paid apps..... I have been able to download them before. If I look in the markets at "downloads", the only thing it shows I have downloaded in Google Maps, but I have download about 8 other apps.
I am currently resident in Beijing and just bought a new Atrix. The major problem I have is that China appears to block the installation of Android Market on phones and it is replaced with some crappy alternative which doesn't have many mainstream apps. So my question is, how can I install Android Market on my Atrix? Also - whilst I changed the language settings to English, many of the installed software is still in Chinese - for example maps, and Moto Navi gives instructions in Chinese too. Is it possible to change these too?Gmail etc is blocked too.
For the past several days for me. I just get "Loading..." and the perpetually rotating gear. Yet my notification bar is letting me know I have updates available. I just can't open the Market to DL them.
Anyone had this problem? The widget is still on my desktop, kind of... but it doesn't have a name or a picture and it doesn't work. If I open the tray with my apps, there's no sign of the Market. It's also nowhere to be found on my AppBrain backups.
I wanted to install Let's Golf 3 via Android Market which requires 2.2 minimum. But I am not able to do so as Android Market still thinks my Defy runs 2.1.
After the reset, I find the Android Market with a different style and layout than before. It used to have an option for "My Apps" when I pressed the menu button. Then from there I could also go to a settings menu where I select various ratings of the apps which would display on the Market.
Ive used android since the original G1 and owned many hand sets, but this XOOM is my first tablet. Now im sure I must be going stupid, but how do you give app feedback within the market app? I just cannot fathom out how to do it!
I have had too many problems with thsi phone and I'm starting to think it wasn't worth the $300. First of all the Android MArket force closes on me every time I go to the Just In game section. Another problem I've had is freezing, it freezes way too often. The biggest problem is the freaking resetting, my phone just resets for no reason, I'm just browsing through the internet or playing a game and suddenly the phone vibrates and turns off for example and then it turns on again and let's be serious the phone takes a long time to turn on, I have had this happen to me 5 times in the last 3 days and it is really annoying. Also wanted to know if this phone will ever be upgraded again to a newer version of android. I just have to know Motorola are you planning on fixing any of these problems, because this product is very, well how can I put it, horrible. I'm hoping you guys do something about all these bugs because most of us payed $300 for a crap phone taht rarely gets any updates. Just truly disappointing. Also forgot to add, will thsi phone ever be able to install apps/ save them on SD because the internal memory is too low and fills up to fast and I can't find any option enabling me to save my apps to my SD card.
I just got the motoblur yesterday and have been trying to download apps from the market ever since. they say "starting download" and then take ages. When i click on it it says it is queued. how do i stop it queueing?
I am having this weird issue where most of the Android Market Apps show up as incompatible with my Defy without MotoBlur. Is this because of the absence of MotoBlur and is there some way to fix this? I'm attaching a couple of screenshots of how it appears on the Android Market webpage.
Just want to know if anyone else is having this problem or is just on my Xoom. I can access Market but when I try to access My Apps I regularly get a FC. What it says is (process.com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly.
I have tried the Vol-Up-On start and cleared the Market cache with the same result. Would uninstalling an reinstalling Market be the next step.
There are times I would like to listen to FM radio - not an internet stream. My android phone has an app called FM Radio but I cannot find a similar app in the Market. Does the Xoom have an FM radio tuner built in? Is there an app to use it?
My android market is not updating to the latest version i.e. 3.xx stuck on 2.xx. How do I get it self updated instead of using an external apk to install?
Since the recent update to Market I lose my data connection every time I go to "My Apps" to check for updates. The H+, up/down arrows and signal bars on the notification bar change color from blue-green to black and the data connection is broken. Other apps say "no network connection." Cycling power corrects. Have not experienced this problem with WiFi (only one attempt to date).
