Motorola Xoom :: Request For Information/communication On Updates?
May 2, 2011I understand that your hands are loosely tied as Honeycomb is a Google OS and as such updates need to come from them.However, your competitors appear to have been able to launch with things like SD card suppor and there is still no communication about when this will occur.I am not demmanding an update NOW! Just some level of communication on the progress/eta/time-line on when there will be an update to enable all the hardware to function.I also have a number of things I would like to discuss regarding the OS itself but lets first of all see if you can at least communicate with us on the most basic level?

Apr 25, 2012My Xoom has always had some issues picking up the wifi signal in my house (probably due to the old lathe and plaster walls), so I installed a Hawking HWREN1 Hi-Gain Wireless-300N Range Extender to give me better range.
This has worked marvelously... until my husband's Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 plus entered the picture. Now, whenever he gets online with his G-tab, my Xoom will lose connection. Perhaps, not lose connection per se... if I stand in the room where the router (or range extender) is located, web pages will load. However, if I am anywhere near his G-tab, pages will time out and not load.
I am not educated enough to know if this is a RFI issue, or something I can configure differently so we can both be connected simultaneously. It is almost as if his tab is hogging all of the bandwidth...
Motorola Xoom :: Stops Streaming Videos Online After A Minute?
Aug 18, 2011i just recently got the xoom, it convinced me enough on reviews and looks but now i'm frustrated beyond belief. one of the main reasons i wanted a tablet was to use it to view videos online without having to download them and transfer them over.but that's all gone down hill since i brought home the xoom. i love it, my family loves it but it keeps dropping the connection only when i view videos. be it Internet or anything else, my connection will be dropped at about a minute but before reaching two minutes. basically all i have ever gotten to view is two minutes into videos before i get cut off. i can be standing right next to my router with perfect connection on everything but as soon as a video begins to play the connection gets dropped and i'm stuck with a brick in my hand.
i've tested it out with other devices such as my phone, and my 2 laptops, even the family wii and videos play like a charm. the xoom however likes to give me a small preview and then cut me off. i've looked into the problem all over the internet and haven't found any solution. before i get the whole it's your router spiel it's only happening when i try streaming a video. i've updated all i could think off to the latest versions but to no avail. i even focused on looking at the wifi indicator to see that it will have strong signal and be working perfectly but at around a minute and a half it shoots down the connection and shoots back up. this isn't a problem if i'm just browsing the web but the videos don't seem to resume loading after it gets the connection back.

Dec 12, 2011I can access my NAS drive through my desktop PC using motocast but I want to access the NAS when the desktop is swithced off.I add server using FILES app.I have tried all addresses including router ip and other numerical addresses that are used and recognised by windows.It always asks for a password even though the only password I use on this device is the admin one to access the GUI of the router.Windows XP has no problem accessing this drive without a password or login, in fact it very easily appears in MY NETWORK PLACES.

I'm a user that comes from the Samsung Captivate, so it was never a problem for me because Samsung phones access the external sdcard by means of a symlink from inside the internal sdcard doing something like/sdcard/external_sdBut with the Atrix is completely different since the mount points are/mnt/sdcard and there's a symlink to /sdcardAnd the external sdcard is/mnt/sdcard-ext with a symlink to /sdcard-extIs there a workaround for achieving what I need to do? I believe it's not possible to create a symlink because of the filesystem used in the sdcard, but I might be wrong.

I recently got my photon 4g, and when I went to pair it with my car, I noticed I'm unable to access the phonebook from the car.With my Evo 4g I was able to view call lists and the phone book itself with no problem.When I paired the photon, it successfully paired, then the photon prompted me that the vehicle was requesting access to the phone book access profile. I clicked "always allow" (or always accept, I can't recall at this moment) and let it be.
But anytime I went into the phone via the radio, there are no phone book entries, just the option to enter numbers manually.it's a 2012 chevy with Onstar, so I'm using the bluetooth functions of that radio. Calls still work, but since it isn't reading the phone book, it just gives me a number when someone calls, as opposed to the name. For the time being I'm back to using my evo, since I can't recall everyones phone number off the top of my head. I'd love to figure out whats wrong, since I adore the photon, but need the names (so I don't answer the wrong calls lol)
I tried deleting & re-pairing, I've tried copying my contacts to the SIM in case thats where it was trying to read from, all to no avail, then doing the pair process again, still no luck.

Nov 18, 2011I've installed motocast on my pc and it works great connecting to my Droid RAZR. But when I go to mymotocast.com using a browser on my pc, as it loads the music I get an error.In Chrome the error is "An error has occured which prevents the application from running: cannot call method 'get' of undefined." In Firefox the error is "An error has occured which prevents the application from running: c: is undefined."In Internet Explorer the error is ""An error has occured which prevents the application from running: unable to get the value of the property 'get': object is null or undefined."It's only with the music (although I can see my songs behind the error message). The tabs for Video and Files work fine - in fact, using the Files tab I'm able to get to my music. None of these files are on a C drive, btw.They are all in Windows 7 Libraries for "Documents" "Music" and "Videos" but the actual files are on a D drive. I suspect there is something in the code for the Music tab that's having difficulty with that but obviously I don't know.

Jul 29, 2011Which folder is being accessed for ringtones. I know how to get to the point of changing the tone: Menu > Settings > Sound but the list of available ringtones is super short considering how many I have on my SD card. There are several basic AT&T/Motorola tones and then a couple of random ones of mine, but I'm not even sure how those made the list. I set one of the tones/files on my SD card for my "default" ringtone many months ago, but it's not coming up now on the aforementioned list.
I even created a new folder on my SD card called Ringtones (because I had a bunch of random folders on there... Music, Tones, Audio, Sounds), but there is absolutely no way -- as far as I can see -- that I can use/access ANY of them for setting as a ringtone, default or otherwise. When I go into the Sound Settings, as previously mentioned, the list is not using the Ringtones folder from my SD card. Do I need to move tones from the SD card to the phone in order to use them? If so, then how or to where.
