Motorola Motoactv :: How To Create An (golf) Anchor Point
Jun 22, 2012
I play the same courses quite often. And, I have certain things that I would like to manually map as spots that I like to be at on the course on any given hole.Is there a way to hit a button on a location on the course and manually mark that spot? Like a custom targets per hole?
Don't know why I can't find this anywhere on teh MOTOACTV site...looking for the list of golf courses that are available for the MOTOACTV Golf Edition-
how to add on golf courses ... I'm not referring to the courses that is in the MOTOACTV database.I'm trying to add courses which are not in MOTOACTV data base.
Can I download the Golf software on the normal 16GB MotoActv? I don't need 20,000 golf courses, I golf at like 10. However, I don't want to go without score tracking or course downloading.
I have previously been syncing my golf workouts automatically with success. Recently, the rounds (workouts) will not sync. I have tried manually initiating sync from the device (runs forever) and syncing USB (times out) without success then tried reseting the device to factory. I reconnected USB and had to choose replace my devictill no success. I was able to re-download courses and my previous rounds were still on the device (this confuses me as I performed factory reset
I've played a few golf rounds and synced them to the website, but they arent showing up on the Android app. Has anyone here been able to sync a golf round and have it show up in the app? When I do a manual sync it says it has updated successfully.
I just bought this Golf Edition GPS and all 18 holes on the Golf Course are listed as being PAR 4. This is wrong, is there any way to change these PAR SETTINGS? Some are Par 3 and some are Par 5.
Response from the customer service Europe Motorola:"....We inform you that the program of golf, since the Beta, will not be upgraded to the metric system and will remain with the yard...."
I used my watch this weekend to play a round of golf. The round took about 4:15 to play and when I was done my battery went from 100% to 10%. My watch is on "marathon" mode and I left the screen on the whole time. This barely seems like enough to get through a full round of golf, is this the battery time everyone else is seeing?
2 weeks ago I ran a marathon which took me a little under 4 hours and I'm pretty sure my battery was at 50 or 60% when done. I also left the screen on the whole time. The only thing that has changed between then and now is that I upgraded to the latest version of the software.
As a test I set a goal to walk 200 miles. Since then I have logged 2 rounds of golf (10 miles) but the miles do not count towards my walking goal. But they do count towards my second goal of working out 3 times a week. How do i fix this since golf is my primary walking sport. I want credit for the miles to show in my goal.
Is there a way to edit a workout after it has been synced? This includes my golf scorecard. Not that I am trying to cheat, but I didn't enter my scores in during the round.
I know that when you press "start" to mark your next shot the distance of the last shot flashes on the screeen.
Is there a way for me to see the distance from the last shot without locking in the position with the "start" button? This is a feature I would use all of the time with my other GPS unit to know how far away I was so I would know approximatly where to start looking for my ball if it wasn't sitting out in the open. Also very useful for letting your playing partners know how far their drives went.
Problem: When I attempt to do a course update or add new course it will run for hours (circle keeps spinning) and drain the battery. I reboot the device and it shows the last update was done that day (no time statement to confirm last attempt successful) but I'm not sure if it completed properly. The mulitple segment course update works great (hence my attempt to update my courses) at Flanders Valley, NJ.Has the update feature been fixed so changes to skydroid can be updated to the MotoActv?
I bought my Golf Edition a few days ago. Ran into some issues but eventually resolved it myself (as I ended up in a circle trying to reach someone that could support me from Motorola but without any luck). Just want to share my experience so that if someone ran into the same issue, they probably can try it.I live in Ontario, Canada. My Motoactv came with US maps and I needed to download Canadian course packs.I have my device connected by USB. I followed the instruction on screen to download the Canadian Ontario packs. It gave it a five seconds trial and gave me an error of "Insufficient Memory, remove some music". I have no music stored and i had over 12 Gb of space left. I reset eveything to factory condition and still didn't work.
I went to a Wi-Fi hotspot at my golf club, got it connected and retried again over Wi-Fi. It didn't work and gave me the same incorrect error message.Getting quite frustrated, I was trying one last time at home before makting the decision to return it, placing the device close to my Wi-Fi router at home. This time it works very well, and downloaded everything. So, it looks like that the "Insufficient Memory" message could mean that the connection between the device and the server is not strong or fast enough and have nothing to do with memory. The work around is to retry in a place when the Wi-Fi connection is very strong and fast.
using SW v. 6.6 Setup->Workout->Golf->Clubs Profile..Distance ranges are limited, the upper limit should be increased, 20 yards per club. I need about 10-15. Can this be done in an upcoming firmware update?
Does Motoactv have the ability to save locations or find your way back to the starting point similar to the Garmin 305? The Garmin has a compass to help guide you back to a marked location. The Motoactv user manual does not say whether it has this ability. I have gotten lost and find the gps navigation to be important to me
I have a motoactv. The installation was ok. Everything was going fine, until I tryed to create my MOTOCAST ID. I am connected to the internet, but I always get this kind of message: "the device was not able to connect to the server. Try again in a few minutes."
Is it a possible to create a workout without scheduling it?I have a list of workouts I typically do. I would like to create a list of them and, when I decide to workout, I could pick a workout from the list and do it.Right now, the MotoACTV portal requires that I schedule any workout I create. That's not flexible enough for people who are not on a strict schedule.
Is there a way to start a competition that is something other than running, walking, cycling, elliptical or step machine? For example, if I'd like to create a competition for spinning, is there a way to do that?
Until I can create and populate a playlist via a native Android app, I wanted to see how feesible it is to create a playlist manally in Linux and put it on the MA.Its amazingly easy.ere is what I did:1 - I mounted the motoactv and browsed to the <mountpoint>/mobile/mml folder2. I created a new subdirectory - (I used "local" but I dont thing the name matters"3. Using a playlist created in the Itunes subdirectory as a template, I created a playlist (which is just plain ascii text) and put the list in my "local" subdirectory. The name of the playlist file is what will be used as a playlist name. I called mine - "libtest.pls". All I did is change the path to my Music folder, change tne NumberOfEntries entry, and change the directory slashes to match the windows style.he contents of my "libtest.pls" playlist look like this - Playlist]File1=mediaMOTOACTVMusicBluesAynsley ListerTower Sessions1 Soundman.mp3File2=mediaMOTOACTVMusicBluesDelta MoonHell Bound Train9 - Ghost in My Guitar.mp3NumberOfEntries=2Version=2
I am trying to create a route to go for running, there are no streets just small paths in a park, so I need to know how can I create a route without having streets (maybe using the map in terrain mode?) I would like to see how can I use the device for trail running, and how to follow the trace on the Motoacv's screen. I have created a route using the webpage and then created a workout using that route, but I couldn't found a way to follow the route.
I see people posting workarounds on how to create pace zones (as an example) so settings will stick....I can't figure out how to create them in the first place....where would I input the data? The drop down only has "my zone templates" - and is not selectable. Am I in the wrong place?
On the Motoactv Software Upgrade 7.2 release notes it shows a "create workout" screen with options I am not seeing (such as warm-up and cooldown). If I add a new workout, these do not show up as options. Why? Has this update fixed the issue where the unit does not cycle through the stages automatically?
Motorola has not released Route Creation, so you can't create a Route to follow when you run or ride. Motorola please release products only when all the features work and are can be used!
